Thanks. Well, i live in Israel... i wore a jacket once this winter. I think freezing hoses are the least of my concerns Now, as for the hose- does hs33's have specific hoses? (or can i use Shimano/Avid etc..?) Must i use a new olive, or can i just take out the current one and use it? A simple matter of getting a lever adjust bolt took me 3 months last time, so i really dont feel like dealing with Magura's distributer here again. (when it comes to Mountain bikes, Israel has more shops than we know what to do with. but not a single trials shop...) Ordering from Tarty is a pain - shipping here usually costs 3-5 times more than the product. Anyway, i'd rather not start ordering spare parts. Still not sure about the water thingie, call me old fashioned but i reckon oil will be more reliable in the long run. (correct me if im wrong, of course). I think i once saw a video tutorial here showing how to connect a new hose - anyone got a link?

Well, my hs33 hose snapped right near the lever. I've got the technical skills, but no experience with repairing maggie hoses just yet. So, a couple questions - Could i just a the hose a little, take out the broken piece, and re-attach the same hose? - The hose was quite short to begin with, so in case i wanna replace it - do HS33 have specific hoses? (or can i just use any other hydraulic hose?) Its kinda hard getting magura parts where i live (shi**y distributer), so i rather solve this with the most generic parts possible Oh, and last but not least - DOT or Water? (its the old type lever, pre-2005). Any major disadvantages to using water? If there are any good guides posted showing how to replace those cables, that could be useful. Thanks...

There's this old guy i see biking down my street every so often, with his levers pointing upwards. when he wants to stop he presses down - like brake pedals on a car, i guess (And he's like 500 years old, so he must know what he's doing.)

Hmmm, alrighty... Thought maybe there was something i should pay attention to- like keeping the wrist straight or bent up\down. You start noticing those things once you break your wrist But i guess its like i thought - personal preference. Well, Thanks anyway.

How do you decide at what angle to position your brake levers (for trials obviously)? is there some sort of general guideline? My wrist is rather weak now, since i just recovered from a mtb crash, so im looking for every possible way to ease the pressure on it...

This is probably a repost (i assume, cuz its absolutely priceless) but still- worth a post. Im actually posting this hoping to get a few more crash vids from people here. (Its saves to have to explain people how i broke my wrists...) And while im at it- i might as well add one of my own. I call this painting "one good reason to use bar end plugs".

You've shocked the very core of my existence with this new information. I've spent my whole adult life just assuming half links were tougher (guess because they're so... fat) and now... turns out i've been living a lie I gotta lie down. Makes sense though- guess if they were better, most MTB's would use 'em. Well, i also feel like a dufos cuz i just sold my jackflash with a brand new KMC510 - and the guy who bought them from me was really stoked about the half link chain i now have. Could've killed 2 birds with one stone BTW- speaking of KMC - 2 years ago i used my jackflash mostly for commuting. I've had drivetrain issues with my stupid truvativ crank always coming loose, so i kinda neglected looking at my chain. One ride the entire drivetrain felt strange... so i had to stop and inspect it inside out - only to find out 3 links had one plate completely broken in half, and a 4th link halfway open (i dont do rails or grinds, that was just from pedalling wear). God knows how long that chain has been holding on like that!

Ooooh... Seriously? Snapping a chain is rarely fun I thought they're considered stronger... So whats the advantage of using them? fitting? Would i be better off, in the long run, switching to a thick single-speed chain?

Well, this may be kind of a dumb question, but seeing as i never had a half link chain, i'd rather be safe than sorry- how do you break a half link chain? just noticed two links are inverted (not my fault), with their flat side (rather than the "curved" side) resting on the drivetrain (not my fault!) What are the odds of messing it up and not being able to put the pin back? (i dont have any spare links handy). Or is it better if i just leave these 2 links alone? i've installed and repaired chains by the hundreds, but its the first time with a half-link. (Toxsin half link, by the way) Thanks.

Well, i know its not as pimped as some other bikes around here... but its still by far the sexiest bike i've owned, plus it cost me a fortune to ship it here (So be gentle!) Stem's gonna go soon (to be replaced with Trialtech sports), and im looking for a decent bar. Weighs in at 10.4kg... (about 4 kg lighter than my old Jackflash). Hey, I take it you're from Tarty...? Im from Israel, by the way. As incredible as the mountain biking scene is over here (and its wicked!) - the trials scene is rather small. I've just shipped a bike from the UK (a Toxsin2) - and the shipping cost me more than the bike! This is why many people here order regularly from ChainReaction simply because of the free shipping (for large orders). The shipping prices make it totally impractical. Now, take a £42 bar, add £15 for shipping, then all sorts of stupid mail charges for large packages (as high as £15)... im sure you get the pictures :$ If i were from the UK, i'd order one no questions asked. but.... Seeing as those are my options here, im thinkin the Apache has the highest rise and sweep.
