  1. 1994-1997 Served with the British SAS (21 SAS). 1998 Youngest British climber to reach the summit of Mt. Everest . (In aid of SSAFA Forces Help, the Tri-Services Charity.) 2000 Bear leads the first team to circumnavigate the UK on jetskis. (In aid of the RNLI Lifeboats.) 2003 Bear leads the first team to cross unassisted the frozen North Atlantic Ocean (view website) in an open Rigid Inflatable Boat. (In aid of the Prince's Trust.) 2007 Teamed with Gilo Cardozo of Parajet Ltd, Bear became the first man to fly a powered paraglider to a height above Mt Everest in the Himalaya - For those of you claiming Bear is some sort of 'pretender'. You should read his book Facing up, it's about when he climbed Mount Everest. Spose Mears could probably do that too though..
  2. Torsion of the testicles? I had that when I was a lad lol. Good job you got it sorted. Left un-treated you'll become infertile apparently. I remember it being pretty uncomfortable however so I feel your pain. Hope you, and you ball, are feeling better soon.
  3. Nice Joe, punchy but refreshingly amiable at the same time. I really liked the tune aswel. J
  4. Jesus Nick, your videos still knock my socks off, and I dont even ride anymore! Cudos.
  5. Haha, well atleast you've sorted it now.
  6. Hey, I had a scan around the 'reviews' bit on the apple site for some more info about your problem. I'm not sure if any of the info here relates directly, but it's worth a shot; and I quote.. "USED WITH CLASSIC IPOD THIS CABLE IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH DIGITAL TVS. I have a classic ipod and when i purchased this cable I discovered it only works with a digital TV. It will NOT work with a traditional red, white, yellow analogue T.V. The documentation that comes with the Ipod does not state this. The information on the Apple website does not state this. I rang support and they suggested that I try to purchase and additional adaptor to convert from digital to analogue. " You could give this a try, but then there was a bit from a guy saying that he used this on an old 32" CRT tv so I'm confused. Don't mean to sound condescending, but have you made sure your on the right have input on your tv?? J
  7. Well, long story short is that that TM Can't - Create Bootable duplicates, so if your HDD is damaged or corrupted, you'll have to spend hours restoring your data before you can get back to work. It doesn't give you much control when it comes to choosing which files you do and don't want to back up etc.. Time Machine also doesn't compress files so takes up alot of space, and it doesn't use encryption either. It had alot of good points aswell however. Time Machine does default with hourly, daily and weekly back-ups. You can however adjust the back-up schedule with a command line hack or third-party software, such as Stefan Klieme's free TimeMachineScheduler. Available here. J
  8. Theres an interesting article about time machine in the April edition of Macworld Magazine. Some of the points it brought up have dissuaded me from using it. Anyway, worth a read if anyone can get hold of the mag. J
  9. I still think 'Otherside' is yet to be surpassed. Those were the days.
  10. Hopefully you'll be able to find some useful tips, here. James

Sweeeeet. Nice vid btw. Very nicely put together, and wasn't (imo) over-edited at all.
  12. Christ alive, that is such a kerfuffle. Compressor is a million times easier, Ja-bless macintosh.

Haha that was the craziest video I ever did see. Whoever cut that together is nuts! But for some reason I quite enjoyed it so.. well done I guess.
  14. Just wondering to see if I could think of any decent software that would be of interest to you. If web browsing and music is your thing, then check apple > downloads for loads of cool free/share-ware. This is great for safari... ..as is this.. Hope these help!
  15. MacTheRipper for copying dvd's Handbrake for converting vids/dvds to iPod format. I also have something called iLike which is a plug-in for iTunes and suggests loads of music you might like depending on whatevers playing. It also comes up with loads of free mp3 downloads which every now and then un-covers some right gems. What will you be primarily using your macbook for, might I ask?
  16. Forest fields tram stop, or the road adjacent to the high school off the top of Waverley street (runs parallel with the top on the arboritum.)
  17. Ah right. Was just wondering becuase of the weird resolution your vid came out at. I have no idea of the actual specifics on WMM, but have a search around all the various menus and preference boxes etc... and make sure all your capture and export settings (basically, anything that gives you various resolution options) are all set to 16:9, should this be your ratio of choice in future. Happy editing.
  18. Software: SafariSpeed 2 - gets rid of 1 second page delay put on safari by apple. Safari Full screen thing (forgotten name) - makes safari full screen. Roxio Toast titanium Audio Hijack Final Cut Studio 2 (fcp6, compressor, apple color, soundtrack etc) handbrake MacTheRipper Flip4Mac Not great atm, only had the mac a couple of weeks.
  19. What software are you editing on?
  20. I lost interest after 6 minutes of pretty repetitive stuff. The 4 minute lead in, WTF is that all about, that could have been cut down with some faster music to about 20 - 25 seconds at the very most. That begining of that video was quite pretentious if you ask me, I was reminded of when I first got Premiere, and it was all just editing for editings sake. I suppose it's pretty impressive from a riding perspective, I would have however, expected better from Akrigg.
  21. Nice Jonny. You're a human Steadicam!
  22. What's goin on with the resolution mate? Make sure your outputting at the correct aspect ratio of 4:3.
  23. Sorry, but have you atleast attempted to look for yourself?
  24. I fixed the problem. For all Mac users, download something called Flip4Mac which is a plug-in for QT that allows it to play wmv files. It's available here. Suppose I'd better give an opinion on the video. Basically to sum up I thought the riding, and the vid quality was mint, the editing to me seemed really tacky throughout and imo, negated the fact that you shot in HDV as it just made it look crap. Maybe it's just my style of editing, but I definately would have forgone most of effects, the text and the matteing etc and just had it nice and simple. Oh and the music was awful aswell. Nice camera though, what codec are you using to export?
  25. It's coming up on my computer as a 119mb plain text file that won't open in anything, it does however have the .wmv extension, so I'm completely stumped. Was quite looking forward to that aswell.
