Went out after i posted this and the squeeking stopped for some reason
Thanks anyway, will do all that if they start doing it again
-
Just had a go on it and when i push down on the drive side pedal theres a squeeking noise, anyone know whats causing this?
thanks
-
Yeah, this is normal cause the splines on the cranks havnt worn as much as 2nd hand cranks.
They will pull on further as you ride them, so for the first few rides, make sure the crak bolts are tight
Thought this might be the problem, but it never happened with my last cranks (trialtech sports) which were new aswell, but that might be because the BB was also new.
Thanks for the help

Hi all,
I bought new cranks and fitted them tonight, but they dont go onto the bb fully. The spacers on the BB can move about 2mm each side and spin freely, so obviously the cranks aren't on properly. I've tightened them as much as i can but they dont seem to budge. Is this normal for new cranks? I've never had this problem before but maybe its the type of crank. They're Try-All cranks (the silver ones) on a Trialtech Sport Lite BB.
Thanks

Yeah it's probably not sub 8 if I've been weighing it wrong. Can't be much more than 8.1-8.2 ish, so it should be sub 8 once I get new cranks, front brake and rear sticky lite tyreBring it to me I will weigh it I just wanna see it really
I like the setup its very similar to my build on the rockman Austin. The weight is quite a suprise but you are running thin tubes front and rear and thosr carbon bar I like s lot. Even then it can't realy be sub 8kg no way

Ah right, that's fine then haha. Yeah the person I've got it off has one that is thicker on one half than the other.there not all made perfectly! it will be fine, ive had 3 and all are different one had a glossy smooth inner, the other had a rough dull inner piece my newest even has one part thicker than the other ad it curves round! it will be perfectly fine im sure.
Could sand that shit down if your jimmies are rustled over it
Nah it's not bothering me too much, was more thinking it might affect the strength of it or something, but if it won't it's all good

Hi, I bought a Procarbon downtube protector off a mate today but there's something weird about it. It's got a line going down the middle on the inside, a small bump, meaning it doesn't go right onto the frame, but it only sticks up ~1mm. Is this normal?
Also the stuff on the inside of it is a smooth material and is glossy black, but on the old protector I had it was rough and a grey colour on the inside.
Just checking if this is normal, or if it will affect the strength of the protector in any way so I don't be a pussy about it and ride my bike properly
Thanks
-
Looks really nice!
What is that you're using as protection for the downtube and chainstay?
-
That's almost definitely not 7.7kg, as Jamie Williams' Speedrace is dual maggie, pretty much all titanium bolts, and super light cranks. Weigh yourself on bathroom scales, then weigh yourself holding the bike, then take your weight away from you and the bike. http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/179983-jamie-williamss-speed-race-fan-evo/
Yeah i was thinking that when i seen his bike haha, ill find some way of measuring it properly soon
-
Sorry I guess I wasn´t clear, what I mean is were you holding the scale while weighting it(If it´s this fishing kind of scales)
Yeah i was holding the scales, thought this may have been where i went wrong
-
Not touching it at all - wasn't easy trying to take a picture and lift the bike without touching it though! Haha.
-
Well Isn't that why people post pics of there bikes on here because they think they look good, and want to show everyone else and impress them and see what random people think of it too......
And Kieran if you want to prove me wrong and can be asrsed to do so a pic would be appreciated
They're just cheap luggage scales i bought, and the reading always seems to change but its always around the 7.7 area
..And before you say it, yes the whole bike is off the ground
This is how I've measure the weight of my bikes but am i doing it right? have a feeling I'm not...
-
I know it's gay but if he really needs proof hahaDon't bother taking a picture, that's just gay
Bike is lovely though man, bet it rides bouncy
Yeah it's sweet, only really done anything on smallish walls, too scared to hit it haha!
Hopefully I'll have a small video out this weekend, got a few clips already

Why would i lie about the weight of my bike? Would be pointless. Im not trying to get people to think my bike is amazing by stating a false weight... Ive weighed it a few times with 2 sets of scales and it always says 7.7. If you really need proof ill take a picture tomorrow night.
-
Weighed it with 2 different scales and they both read 7.7kg.Nice as f**k. But I doubt it's 7.7kg with that back tyre and a bb7
Thanks though!

Bump
Updated pictures

Get some old hose and ziptie it to your frame
Ill be using that for my chainstay but using a tarty chainstay protector for the bit my chain is hitting
-
Tighten the chain more?
Yeah thought that might work, will give it a shot tomorrow
-
Oh right haha, well I've got one on the way so I'll use that
-
What's a neopreen guard? If it works I'll invest in one!
I've seen some carbon sticker things at halfords - would they be ok for protecting the area? And also slightly OT but would they be any good for chain stay protection or would they just get eaten through?
Thanks
-
Cheers man!Sick bike man! Love it:D
If anybody's interested, its 7.7kg
-
Think the rockman stem might be okay if i tilt my bars back slightly as theyre really far forwards!
-
I'll get a small video edited after my exams, sometime next week probablyGraphics always make a huge difference!
It's a nice bike mate. Vid soon!
Cheers!
-
Nah think i'll be needing a higher/longer stem than those as i feel really hunched over on it. Not too bad with my current stem though, had a wee shot on it and it feels lovely! Giving it a proper ride tomorrow
Cheers guys!

I'm using a trial zone rotor on the rear with a trial zone brake. The amount of bite it has surprised me and it's got very good hold too. Obviously this isn't just down to the rotor though.
