  1. Nahhh, I love how they sit on the back wheel, so so comfy! I'm removing the bash plate and mounts asap though. I think you'll get on with it fine Kezza, you seem to be much more smoother lately.

    Kezza? :|

Cool, think I'll go for it and get one (providing I don't change my mind again to go 24... :P )

It all depends on the frame you go for,

as said above usually the bjorn only last a few months and cracks on the chainstay, and for stock the kortz frames tend to go a lot quicker than the others

But surely if it cracks within a few months you've got warranty to back you up? Unless it was your fault by denting it etc

What month do new rockmans usually come out? I figure if it's January/February then I might aswell wait for them since ill be buying around Christmas :)

  2. I've just got myself a bjorn, I wouldn't class myself as a hard basher... I do bash, but only accidentally, such as hitting the chainstays after a failed sidehop, downtube after a failed pedal-up, etc. I only really use the bashring to rest on an obstacle.

I also got told they don't last very long, so I'm planning on taking the bash plate off, and probably grinding or filing the bash mounts down (luckily the bjorn doesn't have a bb mount, just a downtube one). And possibly putting a carbon protector on the downtube, so I guess I'm in the same boat as you. :)

Yeah that sounds the same as me.

    Was it brand new?

  3. I've been thinking recently about buying a rockman mod frame, but I searched the forum for information and most people were saying the quality of the frames are bad and they're not for bashers.

I'm wondering if, since then, quality of the rockman frames (specifically manus' and aurems) has improved?

Also, what would you class as a basher?

I've never cracked, snapped or even dented a frame before, But I have destroyed the chainstays on my ice with scratches from failed sidehops (I don't scratch them as much now, just used to hit them really hard when I failed, I would be using a hose on the chainstay and carbon protector on the down tube.) but apart from that my frame is in decent condition.

Also it says on tarty 'this is a serious competition frame' for the manus 2 but not for the aurem 4. Why? Is the aurem stronger?

If youve seen my riding, do you thnk i could get away with riding one and not killing it in a few months?I'd probably change frames again a year later so I'm not expecting it to last me years.

    Thanks for any help :)

  4. Dont know if you'd say its worse, but i was cycling down the road at a bus station, no busses were there so everyone had full view of me.

I Was cycling fairly quickly and one hand slid off the grips, followed by the other and i fell against the bars then sideways and slid across the road. Everyone was looking at me, got straight back up and started looking at my bike ad rocking the bike back and forwards to make it seem like something went wrong with it.

Massive cut on my arm and leg (was in shorts an tshirt).

Pretty embarrassing as im pretty sure i heard people laughing haha.

Unlucky with your fall though - i got my trousers caught in my chain and it judt ripped straight through them rather than throw me over the bars

  5. Man up! because of the way carbon is, it does flex a bit more then Ally, but it will fatigue alot less than Ally.

The reason I got scared of it is because when I pushed on them my mates were like 'Woah oh my god that's mental that's scary' etc haha.

  6. Hi,

I've got a set of try all carbon bars and when I push down on the grips with most of my weight they flex/bend down a bit. I can't feel it when I'm riding but when I do that or have the bike upside down and push the wheel down hard they flex. Is this normal?

Constantly worrying about these bars haha.

    Thanks :)

  7. Alright guys,

The memorial ride for Danny has been planned a bit late this year so it will be held on Sunday the 30th of September to give people notice and will be starting at 12pm.

I know most of the people on here are pretty far away from inverness but thought id post it anyway just incase a few of you could make it.

More details (if any) will be posted soon.

Hope to see a few new faces there (Y)

    Thanks, Kieran.

  8. A few of us from inverness should be in Aberdeen on Saturday, just wondering if any riders from that area would be keen for riding?

Don't know where to meet so if your riding you can decide and we'll find our way there haha!

    Cheers, Kieran

  9. Yeah that's little fractures in the resin, like on glass. Its fine. When you start to get gouges or scratches that you can feel distinctly on the bar, Then you might need to worry

I can feel the big crack when i run my nail across it but im guessing you mean scratches self-caused.

So this is just the resin cracking? Is it a fairly common thing to happen?
