hmm... ive been trying to ride now for probably 2hrs max and all ive been trying is to trackstand and bunny hop and both im failing at but ive noticed when i was looking at my bike that 3 teeth on the sprocket seem to have been warn down already and it cant possibly be from riding can it? the chain has fallen off once and when i first got the bike the thing that attaches the deraillieur was badly bent and so i had to straighten that out so that the chain would go round with clipping one edge of the guide where the chain goes on to the derailleur and so that when i changed to a high gear it didnt go into the spokes but i hadnt really ridden it up when i realised that because i didnt wanna damage anything. any suggestions of what might be causing it? im gonna ring winstanleys later to see what they will do about it. also its not as easy as deciding to go and straight away upgrade the sprocket because of how the sprocket is screwed in to an extra bit coming off the crank (and im not on about the thread around the bit that fits on to the bb). and i havent got the money to go and start replacing bits especially so unnecessarily after 2 days of having the bike.

i got a MAD Phase 1.2 yesterday, sorry. i gotta say though i love it.

when you get a bike post on the member organised rides and say your area and arrange to meet up with people and then you wont be alone and they will help you out whilst youre learning.

well guess what turned up today... a MAD Phase 1.2! i love it and how light it is! the front end is far lighter than my mate's Onza Ice so im quite happy with that. ive had a little go and i can say i cant do anything on it yet. not even trackstand but il get there soon enough i hope. also for all those who said winstanleys was a bad place to order from my parents ordered it thursady night and it got here monday so i might be lucky or maybe theyve changed i dunno but im very happy.

alright ive decided im not gonna singlespeed it till later when i understand more about the bike and learn to ride it properly. thanks for everyone's advice, if i do decide to singlespeed il have another read over when i understand more and i can sort out what i need.

im planning on it. ive got a chain break tool already but il learn the basics for a while before single speeding it. EDIT: ive just looked at the singlespeed kit and its a great price! also as theyre so cheap i may as well get a ffw when i single speed it as its not too much more from looking on rocknrollbikes.com.

someone i know had a bike stolen and found it on ebay a year later in the same condition pretty much.

on my ipod ive got: Borgore Tek One Bar9 Modestep DjBrja (no thats not a typo, search "the room dubstep" on youtube its amazing but not many people have heard it.) Skrillex ive also got a few remixes of songs but i didnt think it was worth mentioning individual songs.

think how much we would have saved if we didnt go bomb Libya. surely a country closer that isnt in a recession would be more appropriate to fix their country and then cuts wont need to be made on things we need more.

by the looks of it im gonna need a single speed kit, sprocket and freewheel to single speed it so il hang on for a while if i do that. il worry about pads and grinds later when i need it more, and im gonna avoid tar because ive heard it ruins pads after a while. il worry about a tensioner later too, especially if its gonna cost me £30. thanks for the advice about the bike though, im pretty certain im gonna get it but il wait till after my birthday and then il have some more money and its only a few days anyway.

hi this probably wasnt the best place to put this as theres a topic that you can introduce yourself on already but its here now so oh well. if you want some help heres a few links of how to develop some skills: Very Basics Some more advanced stuff Video Tutorials i havent watched the bottom one yet but im sure its useful. also read through the FAQ on the beginners chat and that might help and also keep checking up on the beginners chat too as there is sure to be stuff to learn from. i've learnt alot from it. thats exactly what im planning. im gonna get the single speed and sprocket kit and get a freewheel and chain which shouldnt be too much and then im well on my way.

i gotta admit theyre hard. the bike picks up speed too quickly and that makes it hard to do but theyre easier after a few attempts. on the last part of it i managed to do the tap with the tiny amount of space there is but ive only done it once. i find it easier to hop to the small block and then hop off that to the other platform.

doesnt look to shabby. im thinking about buying a MAD Phase 1.2 as theyre £200 from winstanleys and that will be my proper first bike.
