  1. I have a stock onza zoot and at the moment I'm ready struggling to manual it, and I'm wondering if it is just me or if its my bike setup that's at fault.

I'm a beginner at both street and trials so it could well just be me but I can manual mtbs fine, and back hops are fine too on the zoot..

The zoot does have a heavy front end by trials standards as its got steel forks/bars giving it 7-800g more weight than a more average set up, is that enough to weight the front end down?

I had a stock zoot and found it really hard to manual as well,

changed the stem to a 90x35 and now it's fine, it also spins a little easier too!

It's a really weird balance point on manuals though cus you gotta be leaning back but also quite upright (at least that's what I've found) - unlike bmx's or such where you are leaning back and also quite low down

    Hope that helps :)

  2. I'm in, it'll either be just me, me and 1 or 2 other guys but they both aren't sure.

Dude, if they don't come and there's space in your car... would you mind me tagging along?

Obviously pay you petrol monies, and maybe even a maccy d's ;)

  3. I'm planning on going, never been before.

Just trying to work out the logistics of how I'll get there and get back

Should be sweet though, is there like different sections? (street, comp, natty ect)

  4. I havent a clue i have only just started noticing it, i have been riding a lot more often than usual recently though when i started to notice. Maybe that could be the cause ? I know the composition must differ slightly but i presume theres still some kind of muscle attachment to the bone that runs down the fore arm ? As i said its not too bad right now so its not worry just wanted to see weather it would get worse and what would cure once or if it gets worse. I should have said I don't get it every time i ride also i do get it randomly when i'm not on the bike as well which i find strange. Thanks for the advice though i'll keep it in mind if it becomes worse :)

    Adam.

I did a quick BJM (British Journal of Medicine) search and apparently it's super rare to get forearm splints. It's document but like only a handful of cases, you might just be super unlucky.

They said it's also common for it to persist, even after retiring from sport, which would explain why you sometimes get it when you're not even riding.

Apparently, not much can actually be done about it! So unfortunately looks like a painkiller jobby

Yes there is muscle attachment to the bone but in all honesty I cannot remember what it's called or what it's comprised of :P

Hope that helps anyway though dude

  5. I guess in theory it's possible, although muscular composition in your arm probably differs to those in the shins, helping resist such sensation.

Any idea what in particular caused it, seeing as tibial periostitis (shin splints;)) is mainly due to incorrect running technique or poor footwear...

I would imagine that rest, cold packs and maybe some anti-inflammatory's would help though :)

  6. That's the bit i'm having trouble with though, trying to landing to rear wheel feels weird.

Wear a helmet and slam your brakes, cus I know how sketchy it can feel!

I still haven't really landed a decent 3tap yet, most of the time I get on the rear and jump off the back.

Another thing is making sure when you turn, you do so with your body in an up right position, cus my mate was watching me and said that I was still in my usual 180 position and kinda low, which meant I'd never get the right leverage to get onto the rear..

I think it's a matter of mindset and committing fully though, if I make any advances I'll be sure to tell you haha

  7. Try landing 180's on the rear wheel first, finishing in the usual position you'd be in when you go onto rear for anything else.

From there it's not too much of a stretch to add another 180, landing a 3tap

Least that's how I'm learning them anyway

  8. Anyone above him to talk to? Someone else you could get moved beneath so they could be your mentor?

I'd try this after talking to him, otherwise you might get a reputation for being someone who can't sort his own problems, shys away from them, or a bit of a backstabber.

Definitely talk to him first, then if no changes, then go higher than him.

Will always look better to management if you say you've tried talking to him about it first, least that's my opinion

  9. I think there should a time limit that they have to set by, something like 3 days.

If they don't post the new challenge then it reverts to who was second, if there's no second place (cus lack of entries or lack of decision) then the person who won the last round should set?

Also, seeing as this is stickied; there should be rules on the OP ;)

  10. Right peeps at the end of this month I'll be moving into one half of the inlaws farmhouse and need some advice on getting wifi in our half of the building. Currently there's a Sky wifi box connected to the main phone socket in the other side of the house but there's no chance the signal will reach all the way to our side so I need to know what I can do router wise to get connected as I'll be wanting to plug in our Sky HD box and my PS3.

    What are my options??

    What Jake/ JMCD said.

Those little plugs are awesome, so as long as there's a plug socket in the barn that runs on the same circuit as the house then you'll be fine!

  11. Work-work-work-eat-sleep-family-work-work-work-eat-sleep.

    Why?

To earn more money? But you will not have time to spent it. You will not have free time for what you love(riding and any kind of activity/drawing/ANYTHING that gives you pleasure and satisfaction.

Furthermore THIS people (work-eat-sleep people, WES people) are teaching others how to live, tells others how "WRONG" they living their life and how they small(implying that person who they teaching is "a child") mentally and also that people who not lives WES way are infantile.
So what do you think about it and how you live like?
I don't want to live WES way. I want to have much free time, at least much enough to satisfy myself. I have many interests and want to go far in all of them. I just don't understand how all this people can live like that. They have no interests in life? They are too stupid and live like the others because others live like that(millions of people can't be wrong)?
Or if they don't like the way they live why they not changing anything?
I'm pissed off because of that people telling they f stupid opinions like "RIDING ISNT SERIOUS, YOU NEED TO BUY A CAR!" Or "PARKOUR IS FOR KIDS! BICYCLES IS FOR KIDS! ADULTS GOING TO WORK AND DO NOTHING ELSE!"
They ideal life is to get some high post in "cool" big company that allow them to buy new iphone every time it released plus some clothes and "cool" car to show off.
I have only one life and life is truly a short affair. It is better to live doing the things that you like. It is foolish to live within this dream of a world seeing unpleasantness and doing only things you do not like.

    So basically,

    'YOLO'

  12. This is rubbish. You're saying all larger people choose to be that way? I agree that some could avoid it but not all. Also how would an obese person in medical be ironic, you saying they cannot be clever?

I would say most of them made the choice at some point in their life yes, I would also assume that most of them may be dissatisfied with their body image but make no attempt to alter it.

Wow you really misinterpreted that last part, no haha. I don't believe weist size is any way related to IQ. I'm saying that it would be ironic because most people in the medical profession know about healthy eating and the important of exercise ;)

  13. Normally these days, I tend to try to be civil and reasonable on here, but on this occasion I'm not going to...

    1. If you want to reply to me, click the quote button, that way I get a notification about it.

    2. Read the article, it's summarising the results of a scientific study. If you had looked beyond the fact that it's from the Telegraph, you might have noticed that the first line of the article says "Research by the Institute of Economic Affairs argues". Equally the title of the article says "Obese and smokers less of a burden on the NHS than the healthy who live longer - report". The report shows that they are NOT a massive burden on the NHS, and that healthy people are actually a bigger burden overall. (Might not be true, but it's what the report states that the investigation found).

    3. Don't tell me what to post and not what to post. It's a perfectly valid contribution to this debate. If you disagree, provide some evidence to disprove it, or alternatively, f**k off.

The rest of your reply honestly sickens me. How can you go through life being so vile and judgmental towards other people? Do you also hate people of a different colour of skin because they're (allegedly, I disagree) a massive drain on the economy? How about old people because they're living too long and costing a fortune in pensions?

Just to prove that I am actually attempting to be resonable and not just ripping all of your reply to shreds, I will agree on the point about childhood obesity. I don't buy it either, a 3rd seems too high. I'll also agree on your point about sugary drinks, taxing them highly is crazy, considering they already have VAT on them.

Why is everyone so bitchy about what I said.

    Firstly ok, I have replied/quoted.

Secondly, my point is that it's still from the Telegraph, journalistic writers for newspapers don't make scientists, nor can they ever begin to comprehend the science.

Thirdly, seeing as you were doing points. Here is an article from the Journal of Public Health - The economic burden of ill health due to diet, physical inactivity, smoking, alcohol and obesity in the UK: an update to 2006–07 NHS costs.

    Here's the link - http://jpubhealth.oxfordjournals.org/content/33/4/527.short

It summarises : Results In 2006–07, poor diet-related ill health cost the NHS in the UK £5.8 billion. The cost of physical inactivity was £0.9 billion. Smoking cost was £3.3 billion, alcohol cost £3.3 billion, overweight and obesity cost £5.1 billion

Ok so it doesn't test healthy people but from a scientific point of view, no one would be considered healthy if they had to attend the hospital (for chronic diseases, not acute or accidents)

    Lastly,

The rest of your reply honestly sickens me. How can you go through life being so vile and judgmental towards other people? Do you also hate people of a different colour of skin because they're (allegedly, I disagree) a massive drain on the economy? How about old people because they're living too long and costing a fortune in pensions?

That is such a giant assumption to make and is actually hurtful, just because I hate fat people doesn't mean I'm some xenophobic nazi right wing dickhead.

My hate of fat people is based upon how physically disgusting it is too observe and how society treats it. I don't hate every fat person personally, I just hate the fact that they are fat.

If you recall, a few weeks a go I started a thread about gay marriage - advocating it should be allowed. I also have zero problem with people of different ethnic origins, I don't even do what most people do and say "Oh I'm not racist but it's not fair when they come to our country" because I don't buy that shit either. I also have no problem with old people, they are a delight to talk to and remind us of our heritage.

So just to re-iterate my point again,

hating fat people does not make me a judgmental willy, nor does it automatically mean I hate everyone else who is 'different' from me.

    Thanks and fair well

I'm not discriminating anyone though am I? Absolutely pathetic. I'd expect that from a 12 year old but not someone who's been to uni.

I wonder if you'd feel the same if you got hit by a car and the paramedic on scene was obese? I'm guessing he'd rather not be around you either then.

Yeah but people who are discriminated against on a daily basis do not chose why they are hated for, people can't choose their skin colour and people can't choose their sexuality.

PEOPLE CAN CHOOSE TO EXERCISE AND CONTROL THEIR EATING.

Also, your example is void. I'd like to see someone in the medical profession who is obese. That would be ironic.

  14. Snip

How anyone can abuse their body soo bad is beyond me, it's even worse when they make up shit excuses for it like "Oh I don't know how I got this big" or "it's not my fault"...

Well clearly it bloody is your fault and I'm going to guess that it has something to do with your ridiculous diet and lack of exercise.

Scientifically though, the whole children obesity epidemic thing is complete bullshit propaganda. We ran the statistics and looked at the research methods whilst I was at uni and it's actually only more like 17% not a 1/3rd or half.

Also Muel, don't post something from the telegraph saying that they cost less than healthy people, because that is ridiculous on every level. Fat people are a massive (no pun intended haha) burden to society and the NHS considering that fat people are more likely to develop CHD (coronary heart disease), Type 2 diabetes and be at a further risk of strokes and infarctions - that's just scientific fact, not some f**k wit reporters two cents.

What really buggs me though is this new talk of taxing sugary drinks - How about f**k off ! Why should every other person who enjoys sugary drinks have to pay extra because some bloody beached whales can't control their diet. It's actually discrimination, factoring weightism and if the government allow that then I shall propose that I be allowed to throw burgers at fat people. I think it's only fair
