  1. I never understood Bidmas/Bodmas, but Im not very numerically inclined...

Well just so you know in future ;)

It's the maths order of operations that dictates what should be done first.

I was taught Bidmas - Brackets, Indices, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction. (Least that's what I remember it too be)

Bodmas is the same but the O stands for something and I have no idea what right now.

Also, does anyone else hate it when Americans say Math?

  2. religion-Is here to control people !Nuff said

Agreed. It's basically a moral rule book for people who are too stupid enough to develop their own consciousness and feelings so they adopt those of others and never question them.

Religion may as well be a sin and here's why. Most of the teachings basically say (and this is true for all/most religions):

    1. Everyone is created equal EXCEPT black people/gays/women (delete as appropriate, religion specific)

    2. Love your God unconditionally, but at the same time FEAR HIM!!!

    3. You were given free choice, but here's a shit load of meaningless rules anyway and all of them are sins which mean you won't receive atonement at death.

    Rant over

  3. Not angry or anything but was just reading the posts about street trials, I really want to do riding like Ali c, mark, flipp etc but I've never really got on with those type of bikes...

I sorta want to get one to mess about on for a few months to see if I do get into it, opinions?

Come down to Worthing and ride my bike some more, I'm actually loving the stem and bars; it feels soo nice now!

    To balance the 'debate'...

I tried 'streety' riding both brakeless and with brakes, and I'm too shit (and scared of decking it mid-spin) to get the hang of it, so won't be persevering with it

I know what you mean! It's actually terrifying the moment you are about to 180...The thought of it going wrong always crosses my mind right before I try it and I instantly fail because of this. Oh and because my riding ability isn't great. Once I over come the psychological barriers I'm sure I'll get better and I imagine it would probably be the same for you. But hell, why try fix something that isn't broken (Y)

  4. On the front:

Standard Zoot arms, calipers, cable and pads (Don't hate, trust me it holds insanely well!)

    Back:

Standard zoot levers and cable (got an odyssey linear slick I need to trim down), with SD7 calipers and Phat Vee pads (the blue ones)

Gotta say though, not too happy with the back, definitely needs the new cable installed and a half decent lever

  5. I think the vast majority of gay people wanting to be married though don't seek approval in the eyes of God, they simply want to be allowed to use the term married instead of saying "we're in a civil partnership"

I bet there are also a fair amount of gay couples who do want the approval of their Lord, because they are religious and the bible explicitly says that ALL man was created equal (except for black people and gay people apparently, although they outlined the racism some 60 years a go)

I agree though, it's a complete political issue and not a religious one. It's not as if the government are forcing the church to change their scriptures (Although this in the past has be done which shows how little meaning they really carry)

Where is Christopher Hitchens when you need him to slam some sense into people ?!

  6. Following a post by Rich P on Facebook, what are people's views on same sex parents bringing up kids? From a equality point of view I have nothing against it but I do still feel that society isn't at the stage when a kid won't be bullied like crazy when people find out that he/she has two dads/mums. I'm not sure it's fair on the children if it will have a detrimental effect on them having a fair crack at life.

I've agreed on everything you've said so far except this.

I grew up without a dad and to be honest, two parents has to be better than one.

Also, yes I would imagine that all sexuality is a genetic predisposition. Probably not too far in the future they may even associate sexuality to certain genes

  7. The bible is actually very vague on the topic of Homosexuality. Really the only bit about it is in Leviticus 20, the whole "...lying with another man." part. Which does not say that being gay is a sin, but the act of sleeping with another man is. Even then Leviticus was written back when the Jews had just escaped Egyptian rule and they were re-establishing their society as free people not slaves. Most of Leviticus was written for them at the time, such as verses about not eating pork. They had no refrigeration or methods of keeping pork safe to eat so were warned against eating it for its health effects.

Christianity comes down to living "like Christ", Jesus never directly covers the topic of homosexuality, I think somewhere he briefly said something about it but I'm not sure. Jesus came back to change a lot/most of the stuff covered in the Old testament and change all the laws and that.

My thoughts around it is that being gay is like someone being attracted to brunettes or blondes but on a much higher level obviously, not necessarily an "in-built thing". I have no problem with people being gay and I'd never try to stop them from doing something because that is called being a dick.

But I will say that gay sex, as well as any promiscuous sex, can lead to problems like STD's and all that kinda stuff, so its warned against.

That being said, I've never really looked into the topic of it much because I think its not worth it and their is more important things people could be fighting for. As a Christian myself I do not oppose it or support it, I don't really care what happens because in the end we are all judged by the same dude when we die. I just wanted to say that the bible does not directly oppose Homosexuals

Yeah but the bible also says that wearing a multi blend of fabrics is a sin, working on the sabbeth and a whole host of other trivial things.

Also, the very Church you support says that condoms are a sin and in the words of the late Archbishop; "condoms not only increase the chances of catching aids but are also a sin".

I also highly disagree with your late paragraph. I think it is worth fighting for, also I don't think we live one life to be judged at the very end of it. We are judged by our peers constantly and that's the only thing we can count on. This is splitting hairs though, it's my opinion against yours at the end of the day.

  8. Are you sure you're not thinking of Harry Potter?

    Haha, I'm pretty sure.

My knowledge of Revelation's isn't as good as it used to be but I know they refer to a 7 headed beast flaying virgins. Crazy stuff, actually from what I remember Revelations is quite possibly the most entertaining bit to the bible.

From what I understand it is not necessarily the church wedding bit they're after but the ability to be legally married. I detest all things religious with an absolute passion but was quite happy to get married in a civil ceremony to my wife. Made sense in a few ways with no religious undertones. I know marriage is traditionally a religious thing but I guess men and women have been pairing up since the Flintstones so the ability for a same sex couple to be joined in marriage from a legal standpoint makes sense.

In the same way I wouldn't like to tell people 'actually we're in a civil partnership' I can understand why a gay couple want to be able to say they're married.

Correct, I would hate to tell people that I'm in a civil partnership and not married all because one group of people who insist everyone is created equal, disagrees with my life choices.

    #biggesthypocriteoftheyearaward

Yes, I just hashtagged on TF, sue me

  9. I'd say not at all, you may have a gay best friend but would you want him and his boyfriend sleeping in your bed?

What has that got to do with anything though?

Would you want your parents to sleep in yours? Or would you want to share a bed with a same sex couple?

I don't get what the point has to do with it

  10. If the place are willing to marry them then fair enough. If shouldn't be forced on anyone. Like the B&B owner who wouldn't let the homosexuals stay in the same room in his B&B and got fined thousands..... its his house he can do what he wants with it same with churches and anything else.

Yeah that's all good but when you run a business you can't run it in a discriminatory way, hence why he got fined.

Also Churches shouldn't be forced into making a decision on gay marriage but it's good that they are. Maybe one day our government will also consult with the Pope and Archbishop on contraception..

  11. Who wears the dress?

I personally have no problem with it in the slightest I just think it will cause an uproar as people will see churches as homophobic when they are not.

The catcher obviously wears the dress...

But, saying that gay people can't get married is homophobic? Or at least that's what I think

  12. There's nothing wrong with gay marriage, equal rights for everyone and that, but I'm pretty sure it explicitly says no homosexuality in the Bible, which is what the whole of Christianity is based upon. Essentially it comes down to either disobeying the Bible - in which case, why obey any of it? - Or changing it, in which case, why not change all of it?

As a massive fan of ripping upon religions (especially Christianity and CoE) you'll be perhaps intrigued to learn that it actually doesn't say homosexuality is a sin, nor does it refer to it in any sense. In fact the term homosexual wasn't even around when the bible was written (which was around 200 years after 'jesus')

The actual quote people have interpreted is Leviticus 20:13 - "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind"

Besides, if you read the bible you will realise it's complete rubbish, I mean Revelations has 7 headed dragons in it that flay virgins. So why would any one would follow and obey such literature is beyond me.

  13. Seen it all over the news today so was wondering what everyone on TF thought.

I, myself believe that gay people should be allowed to marry, it's pretty discrimatory to say they can't imo.

Try to justify your thoughts though, I don't want to just read stuff like 'no fags shouldn't be allowed, it's a sin' blah blah

  14. Jesus f**king christ I hate the buses and rail service in this country.

Let's face it, they are never on time. They cost such a stupid amount that it makes driving seem cheap. Everything on public transport takes longer than it should and all the people who are regulars just think it's their own private service.

I had to cycle overground from Liverpool Street to London Bridge (Luckily I made it, even though I've never been to that part of London) because only two tube lines were open! Neither of which would get me home nor allowed bikes on.

Then once I had finally got to Brighton, I was told my trials bike wasn't allowed on a bus because it wasn't folding. f**king joke, you're allowed to take any bikes on trains on weekends so why should it finally have to be a folding bike for me to get a replacement bus, on a sunday, at 6pm.

So it was then I HAD to cycle home, all 19 miles along a windy seafront.

  15. Better get two sets as they won't last compared to Inspireds.

Inspireds weigh 5 grams more than Trialtechs and both are largely used by the trials community. There not heavy.

fair enough about them not doing a vee option though.....

I can't find TT forks on tarty,

yeh the whole vee thing is the major issue really. I have heard that about Urbans though :S

  16. Zoot?

I'd go for any of the Inspired Fork range.

Generally for 'Streety/BMX' trials go for Inspired forks, for street trials (eg. Echo 24" or mod/stock) go for Trialtechs.

All of the inspired range are silly expensive, heavy and are pretty much disk only. I'm not swopping my front vee for a disk just to use marginally lighter forks.

Thanks anyway though, I'll end up getting Urbans most likely

  17. To the guy who said he couldn't find the answer to the first question...

You do realise that once you've completed the test you can get a walk through of which ones you got correct and which ones you failed. It also has a handy little fact guide to help.

After reading the right answers, I've now managed to memorise the 24 correct answers... so surely based on this alone, any one with a half decent memory can cheat this test and get entry...
