  1. Before i welded the crack: After I welded the crack : Before: After: The frame will be finished and in its way back mikey tomorrow thanks for letting me help u mikey .
  2. Time will tell . But whatever the weather I'm confident enough in my work to give it a try if it dosent work out il stick to good old mild steel .
  3. Sorry I don't profess to be a scientist lol I work with the stuff every day and it is stronger than mild steel, it's also a lot harder too. I'm just getting ideas together at the mo the first frame will be 304/316 cost depending although il get it through work so it will probley be cheaper.
  4. Stainless is stronger weight to weight than mild steel it also has a little bit more give (spring) witch is good for bike frames if u make the too rigid the stress has nowhere to go . There's more elasticity in the welds in effect , so in turn the weld will last far longer than a mild steel one il do a few examples later when I'm at work This is very true .
  5. I'm not sure without cutting a tube to find out its pretty weighty though
  6. For the record I'm not being mob minded I offerd to help him over a year and I'm clearly using my knowledge as a professional welder to critic this frame I'm repairing as u said I think he bit off more than he could chew and it's a shame
  7. okay UNO momentous http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/182082-jaf-24/page-2#entry2514939
  8. It looked like it had a few repairs at radfest .
  9. Il let u apologise for this first Like This bing 04 May 2013 Neon-trials, on 04 May 2013 - 09:12, said: Looks a nice build although the welding on most of the jaf frames I have seen is really quite amateur Would like to see you do better, doubt you could like Haha no hard feelings bing .
  10. I doubt it IMO there's no excuse for this + every jaf I've seen has been badly welded also I know of a few of them only lasting a few weeks before failing.
  11. Got to have a compertant welder or it dosent have the desired effect .
  12. I mean the crack is worse than the gusset crack its almost a snap ! Uploading now.
  13. Il do it now bud . It's more more to worry about than the crack in the gusset !
  14. Beat me to it ! Although if it was heat treated it wouldn't matter because all the stress would of been releved from the weld .
  15. Ok mikey do u also know there's a crack all the way around the seat tube too ?
  16. Yep luckily the welds are bearly holding it together anyway there far to cold .
