Bikes fixed and I think there were some vague plans to ride on Wednesday. Let's hope for some dry weather though...

Ebay, a few weeks back, had a DMR Ringthing Elite (bashguard) which attached to 3 piece cranks. The chainring also attached to the bashguard. There were a couple of new ones on ebay a few weeks back. Dunno if they sold. Middleburn rings will fit to the DMR Ringthing - you just need to select one with the appropriate amount of holes (either 4 or 5 hole). Check chainreactioncycles.com for other chainring options as well. Luke Rainbird may still have one of these bashguards for sale. They seem to be very rare these days but pretty much the only option However, I think the DMR cranks often come with a spider. In which case you can use something like this. I believe the bash sits on the outside holes of the spider and the chainring on the inside holes. Again, a middleburn chainring or something similar will work. Just make sure you buy the ring and guard with the right amount of holes for your spider. Edit: As Mr. Westlake pointed out to me; if you run a bmx bash/sprocket combo you have to run the thicker chains - that is, at least, with regard to the bash/sprocket combos we were looking at. Those chains then require a modification to tensioners if that's something you run. We did find a 23t bash/sprocket combo though. If you've got horizontal drop outs it seems fairly ideal. Second Edit: Just noticed you have Profile cranks rather than DMR ones. I'm pretty sure these still have a spider option? But seeing as you've got a DMR frame I can imagine that having horizontal dropouts? The bmx combo route might be a good one

Hey chap. Even though the weather would have stopped me coming out anyway, my wheel has seemingly not turned up today. I'm hoping to ride tomorrow and/or saturday depending on the weather though...

Sorry for slow response time. I've been ill the last few days and not really motivated to post much. Thanks again for comments. I think somebody asked my height earlier. It's 6'5". I may end up making another vid of Porter at some point in the future. I think he may have been asking about this last year But yeah I agree we need more Porter. With regard to that teaser though, about 2 weeks after I released it, my hdd with most of the footage died. I still have some random bits and most of the blackpool comp. Finding the motivation to sort it is difficult though. I've kind've lost the love for editing that I once had to be honest. I'm not quite sure what you mean Pauly? What I was actually going for though was a 360 nosepick (is that the right term?) and back into the flatbank. The trouble was the run up was damp and I found jumping onto the rail with slightly wet, and slick tyres, not particularly confidence inspiring. I'd always bail before the tyre went the distance to jump back in. But yeah, get back to Bristol. That was a good ride the last time you were here. Cheers Ali and likewise. Riding with you definitely makes me push myself. That weekend was good times.

Hah, just noticed you meant, not the thursday just gone but, this coming thursday. Kind've makes me look a bit stupid, eh Anyway, if my replacement wheel gets here in time, and the weather is reasonable, I will come and ride with you. I'm sure some of the other locals will be on it as well I'd only make a 12pm start though.
-
I rarely ever check this section of the forum these days because of being hooked up with the locals and, consequently, I missed this thread. We were out riding on Thursday... If you message myself or another one of the Bristol riders that's on here then we might manage to arrange something. Although if you arrange something for the weekend on here you might get a response from somebody outside of Bristol. Just so you know because this isn't the first time I've seen one of your posts unanswered!

Thanks chaps. Some very kind comments although, I think, not that deserved! But then I probably would say that no matter what. Would be good to get up north and ride with you northeners again and for the first time. It's definitely, hopefully, on the cards for the summer. At the moment though potential money for travelling is ending up on part replacement. Nearly there though on parts that should offer a decent lifespan

Really high production value there. It's a shame I don't really like the tune. You're a very powerful rider Rich; it's good to watch. Good stuff
-
Great stuff. Totally appreciate the atmosphere of the ride that you get with this vid because it's without tunage. Smooth riding from the lot of you. Basically what I want to see And Mark, you on a 26" is also wierd. Just so you know
-
Yeah I am curious about the 26" although my financial situation negates any realistic consideration. On the one hand it might reduce my back pain, make bunnyhops easier, umm. Actually I'm not sure what else. I suppose I would look less clown like. I think the thing is with the 24" though is it gets me close to riding bmx which, if my back wasn't totally ruined by it, and the bmx community was as sound as the trials, I would probably be doing. If I get a TGS stock as well then having each bike as different as possible makes sense in terms of variety. I dunno really though. Anyway, cheers for the commentary JD and Joe also..
-
Yeah, the tgs stuff is fun but it always remains a bit wierd from my position. I'm looking forward to maybe sorting one though to break up riding 24". VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE, after all. Anyway, cheers.

The initial processing is over now although that means it's shit quality at the moment. Anyway, yeah, the stiffee/stiffy seems like a good decision, especially with all the 3's I like doing these days. This is in fact what killed my rhyno rim. With regards to the lens, I think I shall leave it for the moment, and hold onto money for fixing the bike. I don't really go more than a couple of weeks without breaking stuff Perhaps when I get loaded up with the right products that might change though.

Yo, I'm having a really shitty time trying to make my longer vid. Last time I paid somebody to film we discovered 3 cracks in my cranks so I couldn't ride. Today, when I also paid somebody to film again, I pringled my front wheel beyond use. Luck ain't with me. Anyway, here's a vid with a few 24" clips of failed efforts with regard to my proper vid and stuff that was filmed to see what's going on. The 26" stuff is from borrowing a working bike after my pringle. I'm relatively pleased with the stock stuff actually. I only wish I could have sessioned some other stuff on it besides that area. Definitely going to get a TGS bike though. Mark, looks like I'll be getting another stiffy. Oh, and this might still be processing.

Great stuff. Love the flowing smoothness

Sorry, Dave. Your honesty is good and appreciated. I would prefer to be understanding toward you and your difficult situation. Obviously your behaviour upsets me because of its similar relationship to my Dad. I got carried away. That being said, you do have the potential to change for the good of yourself and your kids and those two things are tied. You won't be making a happy and sane life for yourself if you decide not to care for your children because they are an inconvience. If you can't deal with one of the most important responsibilities in life then how will you deal with anything else? You've recently faced upto a drug habit and that's great. It's evidence of your potential to change in the ways that I'm sure you know you should.
-
Sort yourself out asap and then get into their lives. I talk from experience when I say that a disinterested dad can be a proper headf**k to your development. If you're really that selfish then, for me, it somewhat explains your problems in life. Sincere concern, love, etc. for others can go a long way in helping us forget our selves meaning there's less of a problem for our selves. In other words, it takes somebody quite devoid of good feeling to not give a shit about those who need them the most. Start caring for your kids and you'll start getting some good feeling and then maybe you won't have quite so many problems. I'm fairly f**king outraged by your flippancy to be perfectly honest.

You don't have girlfriends, you murder prostitutes instead?

What's left in terms of riding spots for individuals not involved in the comp or speedtrials when those are being held? In the sense that I'm not so bothered about observing and I'd prefer to be riding. I'm just concerned, especially when the nationals are on, that there won't be much or anything left to ride? It's possible I'll have a tgs bike by then and it may change matters but otherwise this might be a bit of a turn off.

Shock horror but I disagree with you on another matter, JD Basically I pay £330 for my room in Bristol with no additional costs. Food and other homely bits costs me about £180 a month. That would leave you with £240 p/m for other costs or 60 squid p/w. Personally I'd love to have that much spare for clothes, travel, bike, etc. However, I don't drive so that's obviously the removal of something quite costly. If you don't care about having lots of money but think it's important to have your own place then go for it. Freedom from 'rents and living somewhere cool or with mates can reduce the need to spend extra compensatory funds anyway. Again, I personally couldn't care about a mortgage. It just seems like something to tie you down but then that's quite subjective and accoring to your values. Why am I enjoying the fact of disagreeing with you JD?

Move to Bristol Nick, init!

Supposedly the freeing up of hands (?), that follows from walking, played an extremely significant role in our species evolutionary development. It better allows for manipulation of our environment which has a positive feedback relationship with cognition and cogitation. Basically it seriously impacts on our ability to learn. Although given that gorillas can normally sit and use their hands to manipulte the world around them I'm not sure exactly how meaningful it is in this case.

I hear you. I would like a bitch to share my life with in a meaningful sense but, alas, due to my depression and unconventional ways I think it's a recipe for disaster - so says my last two relationships anyway. Nor am I a particularly confident person with the ladies although that changes when I meet one that can hold a decent intellectual dicussion. I really like the idea of a semi coventional life with a woman and a job that I enjoy but I don't reckon it's going to happen. Most likely in a few years I'm going to end up in a monastry somewhere practicing meditation and being celibate . It's probably for the best but I can't help thinking I'll be missing out on something with a female edit: eh?! It changed my "I hear y.a" to "you"? (ignore the full stop) What's the deal? -

I'm not sure we mean the same thing when we each say "game". Yeah I enjoyed flirting, particularly so with the most meaningful girl that's been in my life, but that just came to a part of our relationship anyway. I don't see how the chasing game (you have to chase, not her) carries over into a relationship and it certainly doesn't play any role in the longevity and depth of a relationship which, for me, is based on connection. I'm happy just sharing interesting conversation, humour, teasing, etc. as you would with anyone but when it has a certain depth to it and you find yourself liking them, you take it further. No real rules about how it must proceed; just feeling which I feel is much more sincere. Basically what I'm saying is that a game is not a connection and a connection is what's important. I mean more than this, in the sense that games are the prevailing rule in most areas of life, but I'm too tired right now to really add anymore. I will say that I have no idea what you mean with your analogy? -

You realise that this basically means that it's the game of getting the girl you are more interested in than the girl herself? Personally I have no interest in that game, like most social games, and would just be really pleased to meet a hot, intelligent and interesting girl that was really into me (you b*****d). Letting the game come before those other things is only going to cause you to miss out on what's infinitely more meaningful. -
Um, what about Hannah's feelings at this point in time? As somewhat suggested below I doubt your motives are altruistic. If they were you probably would have taken a moment to think about how your actions might make Hannah feel the day after she made an attempt on her life and then maybe you might have been quiet. I definitely support the idea of taking a hard long look at yourself, especially with regard to all this, but there are better ways of and times for doing it.
