  1. DONT USE WD40!!! That stuff will kill your king! WD40 should only be used to clean out the oil in your king and after you put WD40 in you have to clean it all back out again! Use a thin chain lube in your king, just put a little, so then it will be well lubed, run smooth, and nothing will go wrong. This is what I do with my king and everyone else I know with a king and none of us have had any problems! This is sorta like the stuff we use to lube our kings, it would work fine! undefined undefined Hope I helped you and got to you before you put WD40 in your king! Pav
  2. Wouldnt you be scared to use a motorbike sproket as a booster, because wouldnt the little gear knobs be hanging out like daggers? I think I would be getting very very injured if I used a sprocket as a booster! Got any pics of it? Or any pics of the riders legs who used them?
  3. Seriously though, Go to your local hardware store and ask for flashtac, you will get something like 100x as much for the same price of like 2 or 3 pounds and you dont have to have ebay or worry about postage or anything. Save yourself being ripped off!
  4. Hey, if you know anyone in China, you can get them to order direct from Deng and then send to you, or try order from www.biketrialstation.com I'm getting VIZ front rim from biketrialstaion and its something like 10 pound and then Echo Control Fork and it is around 30 pounds, all these prices are shipped. Thought it would be less to ship to me beacuse I'm in Australia, but generally, shipping from China to anywhere isn't that expensive.
  5. If you want to save some money, you can always get a cheap skater helmet, like the type that Vincent H wears. I think I got mine for the equivalent of like 15 pounds here in Australia. The only problem with them is that they get really hot in the summer but you guys in UK might not have that problem because it doesnt really get to like 35+ every day.
  6. Go to your local hardware store and ask for "Flashtac", its used to fill in gaps and stuff like that on roof's. Don't go asking for 'roofing tar' or they will look at you like your a dickhead and getting it off the road is just stupid, its hard enough here in 45degree heat, when its soft, let alone in UK at this time of year. If they don't have Flashtac, ask for something thats used to fill in external cracks/gaps on roofs and exterior walls thats in some sort of black tar material. Don't get ripped off from ebay, hardware store will probably have a lifetime supply for like 2 pounds. I know you can get like 20m or something like that for $7AUD here in Australia. Hope I told you before you got ripped off. Pav
  7. Anakie, long way for you guys to travel though. Its all Vincent Hermance style rocks that he rides in his videos, all massive boulders and stuff like that, the best riding and because everything is so rounded you can go like 1-2ft bigger with every move, its great! The rocks are ridiculously grippy in the dry too.
  8. Aluminium is a very soft metal by any standards, most thing aluminium you could punch holes in with a nail really easily. If you knock things they will dent and bend for sure but so long as you avoid too many knocks the frame will be ok because the aluminium will be strong against normal riding. The softness of the alloy only really matters for massive knocks and dents, this is more what happens in rims, not frames, so for a frame, it doenst matter too much.
  9. Man, I'm from Australia and we've heard about this too! I love hammond and top gear, its the best show here, I watch it every night its on, even though we're behind and are watching the 2005 season. Down here in Australia its been such a big shock for us with all our stars, 1st - Steve Erwin - We all thought it was a joke on the radio here and then it doesnt quite seem real 2nd - Peter Brock - For those of you who know, one of our best and most famous Australian race car drivers, did alot for racing and stuff like that, especially the Australian series, he died in a car crash which no one can quite comprehend! NOW HAMMOND Just dont be famous for a little while now guys!
  10. Hi all, I just helped my friend get started on trials and we got him a Hope Pro II Trials hub and we are wondering how to open it up and service it if we have to, I have a king and always service that and have serviced other hubs so its nothing unfamiliar but I cant seem to find a way to crack this hub open? Thanks Pav
  11. You should start by doing what you know you can do and what you think you might be able to do, trials bikes are pretty basic and simple so if your unsure of something, you can probably work it out. For things like brakes, if your not sure how to set them up well, you can mount them on loosely so that someone else can basically come along, set them up and tighten them down, thats easiest with maguras. If you have HS33's though, an easy way to set them up is like this; Get a CD or 2, depending on how far you want to pull you lever, if you dont wnat to have to pull it far, use one, if you likepulling it far, use 2. Put the CD against the rim, back the TPA out all the way on the lever then push the pad square against the CD and then check that it lines up with the rim. After you've done this, hold it all in place then tighten it all down. If you do it like this you'll always have perfectly square brakes and shouldn't have any problems with your brakes. Stem, handlebars, bolt on stuff like that is pretty easy and you shoudl be fine. Building the bike yourself is the easiest way to learn alot about bike maintanence and it will help you heaps in the long run!
  12. Apparently with the FSA Platinum Pro's they fit into any length BB? I'm not sure how true this is, but when I bought mine I asked what length it was and whether it would fit into my frame and the guy at the shop (one of my riding friends) says it should fit into any width frame, so long as its not overly long or something ridiculous.
  13. Hey guys, I've been reading on this site for a while and decided to post. This is basically directed at anyone who is going to the New Zealand World Championships this year. My basic message is this; COME VISIT AUSTRALIA ON YOUR WAY HOME! Especially you really good riders, like Matt S(you little bitch!) & Stan Shaw, etc. Most Australian riders are in Melbourne and the best Australian riders are in Melbourne, depending on who you fly with from NZ to Europe, Melbourne is generally a compulsory stop over. IE. If you fly to New Zealand, you come to Melbourne then switch planes, So.. Why not stop by Melbourne on the way home for a few days? You know you want to everyone! We all know Australia is awesome. If your lucky, you can ride with kangaroos. Pav
