  1. I guess some people see a working brake as cheating in the same way some people see a mod as cheating. I can see the challenge, but I refuse to accept it
  2. the monty (and megamo?) pedals have 7005 alloy cages rather than the softer 6065 on the cheaper ones, they also have better bearings. I still love my vees, got mine feelin the best its ever been, so I wont be using the echo brakes, but I do think they are nice looking, I was too scared to run the newer style maggie levers (even when I got given them) as I think they are too weak, hopfully these echo ones will be stronger. I am not the biggest fan of the lever design magura and echo have chosen, I feel the pivot is too high and by the time the tip of the blade is in a usable position, its sloping down and my finger wants to slide off.
  3. looks cool, high front ends rock! Also it is a seat, I found mine very comfy
  4. I always say go for the narrowest you can fit.....less leverage so bearings last longer, they are lighter and stronger, sometimes the chainline can be thrown out by a wide bb. But a wider bb has its advantages, a wider standing platform makes the bike a bit more stable, more chance of clearance (yolk and maggies) and as you said you can be sure your next frame will fit.
  5. broke a bearing lol, even with all the bits of bearings in the ratchet, the engagments were still sweet, it just made a racket thats all lol
  6. I dont think I'll use a king again, I prefered my hope over kings I have had before.
  7. I also really cant stand high bb frames, totally ruins the ride of a bike. The mbk I am riding now has a 30ish mm bb rise, thats the most I could ever cope with, but I still often find my self wanting lower rise.
  8. theres nothing wrong with the internals in the current hubs, the splittage of the shells is most likley due to spoke stress. The broken hubs I have seen have still had perfectly functioning internals. btw, my hope is still clicking away without a problem, though I may be getting rid of one to get somthing lighter for comps.
  9. I payed more than that for one vee brake

    Snow!

Iolo and myself got stuck in the snow up on the moors! Well, thats not the whole truth. We go stuck in his panda off roading (wouldnt get over a lump and couldnt reverse up the slope) and while we were up there it snowed...hard! Was freeezing! gonna be snow tonight, possibly not enough to stick though.
  16. pretty sure you cant buy them seperatly, best bet is to contact avid (or outdoor leisure) and see if they can send you some replacments, the brake will still be adjustable without it, used one for months and it was fine, bit inconvenient though
  17. a lot of my faves have been posted, but this one is a fave too...
  18. mine just got louder the more I used it
