  1. I was thinking this one (tensioner is at 7 mins) though it seems my memory was out and apparently it's 1.2mm sheet rather than 1.8 however if you have a vice I'm sure 1.8mm would work fine.

This summer will be that tensioners 4th birthday!

  2. it's the video where I build my orange Hex, not sure of the exact name sorry.

I used 1.8mm titanium, any thinner and it didn't give enough tension and any thicker I couldn't bend with hand tools.

It's not Sugru for the slider, it's a polymorph plastic. Basically a plastic (similar to nylon) that comes in pellets and softens in hot water and can be moulded into whatever shape you want.

Ok - Im just interested, Ali, Adam etc. What do you think about Paxlovid?

I honestly have no thoughts about it at all, I've not been paying much attention and this is the first time I've ever heard of it (seriously, I've no idea what it is)

  4. Waiting on some flooring for the dining room so decided to attack the fireplace in the lounge. It was very much a 70s design before and took up more floor space than needed.

It sure was built well though! Took quite a bit of effort to smash out and I had to chip away at the concrete on the floor to get it all level with the boards, got there in the end though.

Now we need to strip the wallpaper back and get a plasterer in to do the wall and then figure out what fireplace we’ll get.

Can’t wait till it’s all done!

  5. Hope you are recovered soon!

As a point of discussion, Peter McCullough says you can’t get Covid twice.

This has been something that seemed dubious to me as a lot of people have said they’ve had it twice including you. I wonder if I’ve just worked out what he was trying to say though. Once you have Covid the virus signature can still be in your body, if you then get a bad cold or the flu and get a test it could possible the signature is picked up and flagged as Covid when it isn’t…not saying this is what’s happening but it would be interesting if everyone just has a flu but are being told it’s Covid.

In Australia a vaccine was tested that ended up with people being tested positive for HIV! They didn’t actually have HIV but the modified proteins in the vaccine had a very similar signature which was picked up when tested.

  6. “Pfizer says COVID-19 pill near 90% protective against hospitalization, death”

Pfizer has said a lot of things, I’ll be more interested once places other than the people making and selling it say it’s effective

  7. you do keep on going on about it don't you :P . I've replied to this before, I don't think my head can take another bang on the wall but here's a quicky.

    Paracetamol is dangerous.

    Ivermectin is dangerous.

any drug is dangerous if abused. The key is to not abuse it and let one of the safest drugs either help or do nothing at all...practically zero risk, as zero risk as you're likely to get with a drug.

  8. is age the biggest variable because that's actually the case or because there's no information on the other variables? Age is an especially easy aspect to get information for, but to find their viral dose load (which I'd guess is going to be one of the leading variables), vitamin D levels or weight (a sensitive subject, we can't be seen to be fat shaming people) is going to be a whole lot harder to aquire.

I'm not denying that older people will be more at risk, this is proven but I am saying that this is just one thing is a big soup of information and quoting numbers and percentages as absolute proof could be misguided

  9.

You’re all just mentioning age as one variable, what about weight? Physical activity? Vitamin D levels and of course the viral load they were exposed to? All these variables effect the chances of serious illness and death so I don’t think it’s ever going to be black and white unless there’s a seriously in-depth investigation.

I’m not saying the vaccines don’t do anything, I’m just saying it’s going to be hard to argue exact figures without every variable accounted for

I know this isn’t scientific but still interesting. A non vaccinated friend got Covid this week, felt very ill, could barely get out of bed but not hospitalized. Jane dropped off some Ivermectin at his door yesterday, today he says that he feels well enough to have gone out and acted mostly like normal (if he wasn’t quarantined). He’s in his 40s, drinks heavily and is overweight)…now he wouldn’t have gotten the full effect as he didn’t have the combo of meds needed to bring out the full benefits but that recovery seemed accelerated.

My two friends who are vaccinated have felt rough for over a week now and are struggling, not hospitalized and I hope it doesn’t come to that.

Not saying things are linked, like I say there’s lots of variables and coincidences happen but it’s interesting.

  10. Correction, April 30, 2021: An earlier version of this check described the Pfizer/BioNtech, Moderna and J&J vaccines as being approved for use in the United States. This has been corrected to say these vaccines have been authorized for emergency use by the FDA. Vaccine makers will need to apply to the FDA for full approval to continue use after the pandemic.”

  11. someone I know has a belt drive nicolai and he absolutely swears it's fantastic in the mud, I've seen first hand his bike jam packed with mud so thick his tyres couldn't move but the drivechain was still fine. I think it would need to be a specific situation to really cause an issue.

The only difference I could think is that his is a full-suss and the belt has a tensioner rather than pulled tight as a singlespeed...perhaps this gives some leeway for debris to get under the belt and not cause issues?

Sorry for the triple post, TF is all over the place right now.

but lessens the severity and massively reduces the chance of death.

I don't know where you're getting "heart conditions that stay with you for life" from, given that the vaccine is, what barley a year old? How can the vaccine be so new for you to claim that we don't know the long term effects, but you claim that the vaccine has lifelong effects? You can't have your cake and eat it.

The rest of your comment is just anecdotal evidence, I'm sorry but four of your mates getting covid and taking something away from that is just unscientific.

    Does it?

I'm getting that from Dr Peter McCullough (please watch the Joe Rogan podcast). The vaccines can cause myocardial injuries which as a entity in it's own right has a lot of history and research.

I didn't claim that these friends makes for scientific reasoning but combined with real scientific evidence coming out it's not going against it.

  13. I'm afraid you've lost me in that case.

I don't think we should've just been left to it and hope for the best regarding getting immunity, I think we could've worked more to treating people rather than the virus. Restrictions may have been a good idea but weren't implemented in the best way, I think we should be editing the approach as more data comes out rather than trying to continue to do the same thing over and over again.

  14. I just don't understand how questioning a bike shop owners motive is in any way comparable to the motives of those running the country and those selling the vaccines and running the media, they're in no way related. That was also a very passive aggressive reply JT.

I'm with you on the natural immunity Adam.

The vaccines have a very low efficacy rate (unless you believe the tests done which were funded by Pfizer). They also only work in a certain percentage of the population. The risks of side effects are small but in my mind, a small percentage is still too big. I'd rather not risk a virus AND and vaccine especially with reports of heart conditions that stay with you for life. I just see it as two risks instead of one and the more time goes on, the less the risk of covid seems to be. A friend who is overweight and un-vaxxed got covid last week, he was ill for a day and had a rough head for a couple of days after, I also know three other friends who are at least double vaccinated and they're currently down with covid too.

I just feel like I'm looking at a red wall and everyone else is telling me it's blue.

...says every person who thinks the Earth is flat.

I don't mean that as harsh and insulting as it sounds, but I just wanted to point out the absurdity of that statement.

It's perfectly fine to question things, like, how much money are GPs making from covid booster shots? That's a perfectly reasonable question. Another perfectly reasonable question is how much more money are bike shop owners making because of covid?

The problem is that these questions, they find the answers the questions were designed to find, they're not genuine questions, they're implications hidden as enquiry. For example, how much more money are bike shop owners making because of covid? Would it not be beneficial for bike shop owners to push vaccine hesitancy because if covid sticks around longer their shop would make more money? Hey, I'm just asking questions, why so aggressive?

I'm sorry JT, I know you mean well but this is possibly the most ridiculous comment I've read for a while.
