  1. i did wonder.... i landed about 30deg from flat off an 8 ft drop, and totally destroyed a front wheel. very impressed if you landed 10ft flat without breaking your wrists! sounds like the trials-forum tape measure has been doing the rounds again smithy
  2. tis cool. i'll be back out soon. giving them kerbs a good seeing too! Smithy
  3. old skool notts ride! from right to left, we have: dunno who's on the far left! Josh? Bono? Someone else? Phil (of Selectbikes fame) on one of the first echo controls i ever saw Jon Fisher on his flippy Pashley 26MHz Gav, behind a camera in the grey. rode another team trials (on the floor to the right) Either Gamo, or Adam Read behind the camera. Was it you tarty? Steve-O (OD404) on his uber-light Koxx levelboss the guy on the mod, i don't remember, sorry! give us a shout if you're reading this! and my mate Salty on his 25in Monty (red front tyre) oh, and me, sailing through the air, on possible the best line i ever remember! hehe! those were most definitely the days.... Smithy
  4. i've already stated the regs on reflectors. read the thread. pleb
  5. 203mm snapped the bottom off my fatty's. though they have a known issue of a breather hole next to the disc tab, from which the cracks propagate. take the risk though. the brake is immense! everyone no's bigger is better. anyone who says they're too big is scared of em. Smithy
  6. i'm thinkin most people will recommend V12's. Proven pedal. I'd say a big fat NO to V8s as i've trashed too many in my time. currently giving V12s a try as i got some cheapo. If you got the money, you can go nuts with V12 mags and Ti axles, making them uber-light. don't know about cranks am afraid Smithy
  7. that looks awesome! may need to give that a bash (what with summer and lighter nights coming.... nevermind, i got a whole year to work on it then!) cheers for posting! Smithy
  8. and it doesn't help when people whack a post up here saying vendors are crap, before even speaking to the seller (not a dig at this post, just what happens in general) Smithy
  9. fair enough then. just that a lot of younger riders forget that people are only used to abusive little chavs these days. and i've seen far too many kids totally ruining it for 'serious' riders. and this whole riding on the pavement issue is such a big grey area, theres no point trying it on with the police or public. just do as you're told, and avoid getting in to further trouble. infact, we have loads of bobby's on bikes around here in oxford. I'm gonna stop the next one they see, and ask for their advice on the matter. will post my findings as soon as Smithy
  10. and you wonder why they're p!ssed off in the first place, when there's cheeky little kids riding around on the pavement annoying them. group up and show some respect Smithy
  11. don't talk daft. you're not aloud to ride on the pavement just because you ain't got reflectors. reflectors are only required to be fitted to bikes WHEN THEY LEAVE THE SHOP as a new bike. as soon as its out, you can rip them off. basically, don't ride like an arse when you're on the pavement. ride responsibly and considerably, and if the police do stop you, be courteous and apologetic, and just push them for as long as you have to. if there's a group of 10-15 lads on bikes thrashing along the pavement when there's pedestrians about, then the police have a duty to ensure the safety of everyone using said pavement, and the bikers will be classed as the danger. just don't do it. and don't get cocky with the police when they stop you. if you feel you have been unfairly treated (given a fine when you were riding with care) then go to the station and make a formal complaint, just stating that you feel you were no danger to anyone. if they aren't having any of it, ask for a statement declaring which law/s you are deemed to have broken. if they do prove it, take the shame. but i'm pretty sure they would just drop it, or give you a caution or something instead Smithy
  12. --> QUOTE(danny B @ Mar 20 2007, 12:39 PM) ←1 word MAXXIS the future future? everyone's been running em for about 3 years now! how you doing anyway dan? Smithy
  13. it is an 'original' one, before they put the nasty black paint on. don't know the number, looks to be 150 something, but the frame number is pretty mashed! you damn right they got negative bb rise! -15mm as i measure it. its a proper bike, for riding trials on. not a trials bike bloody bb rise. i tell thee, back in my day....
  14. and for anyone who cares, i put the final touches on one of my other bikes today. she's lookin sweet! Rock Shox Argyle's sitting pretty upfront Deity cranks, and Law pedals (very immense, very grippy. bit heavy for the trials bike though!) Avid Juicy 7, bulb hubs on 321CD, King Kog What say you? Smithy
  15. Well, she's back! currently wearing red Mono's on 521 Ceramic/F519 silver, Fattys, RaceFace turbines with Ard Guard. its getting on for my dream spec from 5 years ago! short, tall and colourful. old skool baby! 'check out me dents, d!ck'ead!' Turbines and 'Ard Guard Carbon rear mech (albeit a bit battered!) and suicide shifter and my favourite find... BRONZE Azonic Singlewalls! Ashton was running these in Tricks and Stunts, and even Chainspotting! pre-2000 possibly? anyways, will keep the thread updated. should have hs33 rear and v-brake setup on the front quite soon. and just need to get my arse in gear sorting the gears out. though i may be a little short of cash til the end of the month, so still in need of brake pads and a decent chain!? fat little order for tarty's on pay day Smithy PS. if anyone would care to share any old memories of rides when i was on this wee beasty, feel free to enlighten me! also, if the guy who had the video of me gapping St Pauls fountain still has the footage, could i get a copy!? it was in about 2002/3, so not holding out too much hope!
  16. good to see someone (Tartbikes) has a decent priced rocket. might get me one o those. on a similar note, anyone know where to get a proper headset race basher? we have one in the workshop, but had it so long that the boss don't know where it came from! i've seen them before, with decent inner profiles, or nylon edges, to save damaging the race. thought about just sorting a piece if pipe of appropriate size, but wondered if 'proper' ones are available for purchase. can't find em on google, because i don't know the correct name for a 'headset race basher tool'! smithy
