i used washers to prevent the nipples coming out - i did it because i read from you, it only took you one week to kill it -
Grinding A Dob Rim....can't Get It Sharp!
LauraPalmer replied to Alex-Mitchinson's topic in Trials Chat
I used a 1,5 mm cutting disk(would fly around my ears at a standard rim) to grind my dob rim - got an excellent grind! - i use it with white heatsinkpads and my break is unexpected excellent! it´s better than my harsh grinded TryAll was with coust pads. cause of the softness of the white heatsinks, it seems the grind doesn´t go down quick - i have that setup for a few weeks now and didn´t even think about tar or bitumen... the only thing i hate about it is that squeeking noise - sounds like a pig getting slaughtered, never had such a loud noise before... -
i use one in the front already - great - gives a stiffer wheel than any single wall rim. and next week my new rear wheel will be built(also with a dob rim): the possibility of spokes coming out scares me a bit... has anyone tried these little plates or lets say washers - i hope you know what i mean - under the nipple to avoid them coming out? i think i might give it a try... i mean i don´t bash around like in the early years of starting, but nevertheless i´m over 80 kg

AMAZING!!! best idea for a tensioner i have ever seen

what a great deal for starters! when i started with trials (lots of years ago), i would have started to believe in god, if there were such cheap bikes with such a geo...
-
if it was mine, i would go to Denmark and marry it.

Hi guys! we(Stefan Eberharter, this years 7th at the euros in Junior and me)participated at an "extreme sports" video contest. so please help us to win that HD-camera. I´m in the tyrol-final and have to fight against some windsurfers and snowboarders, and windsurfers seem to beat us up it´s possible to vote until tomorrow evening. we are "trial team tirol" here to vote if you want to watch the vid in a better quality, here is the youtube link: by the way - it´s not a video from trialsriders for trialsriders - it´s made for i-net-people to vote for us (so excuse the sound) and please help us! yours gerhard

thats the way i handle it and its just perfekt... a wide cheapish KMC at about every three months puts me and cogs on the safe side...
-
hmm 34 should be ok, even for for taps with side-angle... may be i wait a little and ask you for a feedback i even would try a rear, but not if its also 4 mm narrower

Hello! a mate and me are thinking about buying them... who rides them, how much do you weigh and how do they work - do they take a beating? i know you can buy them on biketrialstation.com , but will it be available here in Europe soon or is it already? i have asked something similiar in the "new members chat" but only got one rim-review... yours Gerhard

the fork is a cut down marzocchi, frame is syntace short - the one with the air valve if someone remembers (1040, BB with that fork a little over 0, 400CS), weighs only 1,6 kg and nearly lasts forever stem, bar: syntace VRO combo... rides amazing... btw he likes the worn down tire(Michelin hot), because it rolls better... now i nearly forgot: GREAT VID!

always one of my favourite riders - told me in 1999 in Kaprun how to do sidehops right and because of him i bought MBUK for a few years - i´m from Austria and it was super-expensive, but it made me cool

20" 1.Benito 2. Comas 3. Kumorowski 26" 1. Kenny 2. Vincent 3. Giacomo 4. Thomas - he had a serious crash in the last section and hurt his shoulder

water bleed works good - just one thing - the brake will not last as long as if the pistons oil themselves! they will quit work after about a year...
-
i had two pairs of fox, which definitly were the best concerning comfort - you nearly don´t feel them anymore after a while, but both pairs were worn out very fast... now i use 661 which do the job and to be honest since i have the 661, i ride very often without them - so they will last a while
-
takes me one second to think - KAMEL!!! the look is may be not everbodies... but will be much lighter than the czar and the geo should be just perfekt. my mate got one to ride at the worlds and he was stoked (he currently rides a xtp short)

only for a few days - then the chain stretches... i ususally do it on my kenny for a few days (with 18:15, also works with 20:17 both give a theoreticall chainstaylength of 379 mm, kenny has 380 - so no real problem), as soon as it stretches too much my 74 kingz has to do the job...
-
its really easier if you put your rear wheel on the edge of the obsatcle you gap from - gives you the bounce you need to increase the length of the gap. i also preload a lot before jumping(more than on gaps to rear wheel) - so that my ass nearly touches the backwheel... and i hit the bars with the leg of my good foot - this makes it easier on wide gaps to bring the front wheel down and make a nice bowy curve in the air... when i want to wheelswitch, i pull my weight as far as possible over the bars as soon as the front wheel touches the landing obstacle - this makes the rear wheel go up easily and the wheelswitch shouldn´t be a problem anymore...
-
nice one!

thats right - they are called kamel 221 and kamel 231 for the dob frame, a little discussion on it in this thread

in my stupid young years i did some drops from nearly 4 meters... meanwhile i´m not interested in that stuff any more, i prefer to try high ups or whatever... when it comes high these days i drop a maximum of 2,5 meters...

Thanks a lot - give her some slaps from me too! i should have started posting here earlier - people seem to be 100 times friendlier than on observed or the german forum - british gentlemen... i think i´ll give the rims a try... and the frame will be a triton - it´s lighter than my actual kenny frame - which is great already - i just didn´t want to go with a 2kg tank...
-
thanks everyone for the answeres! ok very flexy - may be i should go with the triton. @simpson: how about the rims - did he tell you antything about their ability to hold a grind? do they flex too? @inur: please give a review when you´ve ridden your baby in
