Speaking for myself, I haven't seen any come back as yet. It is the sort of thing that would be shown around so everyone knows "this can happen", so I don't think I would have missed it. You will have to ask your mate. Are you sure it was a Tensile one? There was a Claws recently... I'm wondering if I shouldn't go to the Tensile thread to continue this as it does seem to be going off topic. The Tensile and ENO freewheels have different qualities that can recommend them both quite well. In the end, I think it comes down to whether you think it is worth it to spend the extra money, as the opinion seems to be that there isn't much noticeable different between 60 clicks and 72.

I'm really happy that people who break their Tensiles come on here and whinge rather than returning them to us to be sorted out. Or even just emailing us to tell us about it. It gives us less to do. It also gives us a false sense that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the product because we have, as yet, HAD NONE OF THEM BACK BROKEN. Out of a thousand or more sold worldwide. We do like to improve our product as time goes on. Those longer-term members reading this only have to look at the way the forks have improved over the years to know this. After your mate his freewheel did you put it back together and carry on, or have you swapped it back for the ACS Claws freewheel that you replaced when you put it on in the first place? Or did you get an ENO? What is the Tensile freewheel doing right now? There have been people who have returned Dicta freewheels to Supercycles because they have broken after "only" eleven months of use on their Onza T-Bird, so why hasn't anyone tried this approach for a relatively expensive part like the Tensile freewheel? While the cheap freewheels are viewed as consumable items, the Tensile freewheel is something which we have enough confidence in to put in the half price replacement scheme; even if it's visibly abused we'd replace it half price. There are even spare parts readily available for it. We have the bearings in rings, the pawls and the springs in stock, just in case anyone ever asks. The fact that the balls are in rings makes it more likely that even if it did come unscrewed you could just get a bit of threadlock and screw everything back together. I would guess that this is why we haven't heard from anyone, but I'd love to have some confirmation, either by email or on the forum somewhere. Sorry for the rant. I thought I'd better get it off my chest.

Shut up Mr Wirhgt We haven't gone anywhere. We haven't sold out to Raleigh, we closed the shop part of the business. Raleigh are using the shop. We are in the rest of the building, which is separate. Big building. No sell out. The number is still the same, 0115 941 11 33. One consequence of all the changes is that we have fewer staff but still unfortunately the same number of lines into Supercycles, so sometimes there can be more phones going than there are staff to answer. Sorry about that. Phones are like buses... everyone seems to come along at the same time. EDIT (I forgot to mention...): We aren't there on Saturdays to answer phone calls either, any more.

If a Tensile freewheel did get "munched" - and you can be bothered to go to the trouble - it is possible to service them. At least, we have spare springs, pawls and caged bearing races. For anything else you need a new freewheel.

Supercycles do actually have some helicoil threads for cranks, both left and right hand threads. What we don't have (or can't find - same difference) are the taps for them. If this could be of use to anyone then get in touch. I don't know the measurements of the tensile threads, unfortunately.

I should point out that the type 3 hanger is made out of steel, and I thought it was one of the early ones, as far as mech hangers go. If it fits a DMR or a Curtis... useful to know. Anyone else got photos? The Orange one mentioned, for example?

I thought it might be useful to have a selection of mech hangers, so that someone can tell me what else these ones fit, and so more can be added by those with different hangers... The ones we are sure of :D : and the rest :- :

Right. The Unex hose comes to us in rolls 30m long, and can be cut to any length you please. Our standard length for a rear HS-33 is 120cm and for a front is 60cm, but if you order it now (August 2003) you can ask for a length in the comments section of the order. Later, when the manufactured stuff comes in it will be dearer to get it custom lengths than pre-made (or should it be, pre-made might be cheaper :- ?) If you want it made up for a disc brake, the answer for that is above. We made the bridge hose acouple of cm longer than the Magura ones because we thought that there wasn't much clearance with 19" wheels/tyres. If you have a tandem then we can still sort you out... one was built recently at Supercycles with hydraulic discs and Unex hose is what we used. All we need to know is the length.

Supercycles sell Magura braided hose, which is a raw braid, uncomfortable to the touch and like sandpaper to the frame. It is £35 for the Magura set. Then there's the Unex hose. This can be made to measure. It is plastic coated so there are no more rubbing problems than with ordinary cable. I think that the ends are VERY securely fixed, but I haven't seen how the Magura braided cable is put together so I can't compare. £25 for a full HS-33 set. You can also get hoses made up for disk brakes, if your front brake is a different type to the rear. That is £9 per metre of cable and £3 for all the ends for one hose. The hose comes in rolls, so we can cut 120cm if you want (we aren't limited to metre lengths :- ) Obviously, that would lead to similar prices for front and rear brakes that already exist for the HS-33 combinations. Look at the link given Just in case anyone needs to ask, the stuff works fine with both Magura blood and with water. We have tested both with no problems, so it should work fine with just about anything (normal :D ) you might put in it.
