That's pretty poor, hopefully it's a one off and not a mass manufacturing error. I was tossing up between this stem and the clean pro forged stem. Looks like my minds been made!

@Rusevelt The current scandal in the news is a Post Office issue, not Royal Mail. Post Office is government run Public Organisation, Royal Mail was privatised.

How regularly do you go through freewheels at the moment? Buy several as spares?
-
Some really good ideas there, be interesting to see how they hold up. Would ideal if they made a singlespeed version, looks like it could be adapted to fit a 116/120mm mod rear end too.
£550 is a small stumbling block though.

As has been said, if the shop you bought it from aren't helping then get into contact with Hope. Send them all the paperwork you have, emails from the shop, photos and video of the issue, and they will most likely request you send the hub back to them direct.
Patience is key.

will sending my hub to machine shop, refill and re-thread would work or not worth at all?
Fairly certain this wouldn't work. How would the stripped material be replaced? I think you need to wait for Hope to actually see the hub and assess it, or for the shop you bought it from to resolve the warranty issue; it's only been a week or two?

It's just plain odd.

Enjoyed that Alex, was that BFMV? Nice to see Joe and I make an appearance at the end there 😂

Couldn't you have just taken the seat out and used a torch to see if it's a visible crack behind that weld?
I seem to recall this era of Fourplay cracked in this area and changes got made. Although it wouldn't stop me from riding the frame for a while.
It might not be a through crack and is unlikely to allow light to pass through even if it is cracked all the way through. Removing the paint is the best way ahead, visual inspection and preferably LPI to confirm it is a crack in the tube.

Sounds like I9 or someone should develop a titanium axle kit. Would allow the flex without fatiguing as quickly as the aluminium axle.
Does seem like an inherently flawed design though, especially so for trials. Not something i'd go for personally, but i do imagine the 690 POE feels great. Think i'd rather go for a Hope or for a mod, a Comas freehub.

I did read that the Clean hub has had a few failures already, there are a few questionable design features, the Comas hub seems like a more solid design. High engagement point hubs have been readily available in the MTB world for a while now, like everything it just takes a bit of time for the technology to filter down to the trials world.
I'd be interested to see if the new Hope Pro5 hub could be converted to mod sizing.
Looks like Clean have made an official announcement that there was a manufacturing fault in the heat treatment of the ratchet ring leading to failures.

I thought they only started on the Limey 2? If they were also on the Limey 1 then I retract my guess because I'm clearly a n00b
No you may be right, I thought the Limey 2 was the original in my mind; so you could very well be right. I can't even find a photo of an original Limey to compare.

The top-tube kink was much more pronounced in the Toxsin.
My first thought - which I'm beginning to doubt - based on the dropouts, hanger, BB yoke and headtube gussets was the original Onza Limey. Can't find any pictures to check against.
Definitely not a Limey, had CNC yokes if i remember rightly.
Could be a Bionic

Yes they are testing the Hope Pro V5 Enduro hub with a fixed sprocket. Jack has as well as Hermance. They said it made no difference to them but 20" riders said it's a game changer to have the freewheel on the back and having so few rolling resistance. Clean has made one hub but it breaks insanely fast giving you the horrible chain snapping feeling. Comas' hub seems to hold really well but it's still a prototype (edit: it's not, my bad... https://www.trial-bikes.com/en/comas-rear-disc-freehub-p-538980.html )
About the frame, it's a Scorpio Karr. Last year the owner passed away and the new one decided to sell their design to some customers. That's how Thibault got it. I knew the 20" reminded me of something but couldn't figure what. They are awesome frames and they might get an update when they are finally released and get internal cable routing. They should be out beginning of next year.
@La BourdeI don't forget you but Christian is currently in Taiwan and pretty busy. I'll come back to you when I get to see him in November .
That's a real shame about the Scorpio owner, they had some lovely frames being developed. Nice to know the designs are being used, the frame looks really sweet, hopefully they'll release a 20".

Toxsin?

Looks lovely, didn't realise you could buy a frame only from Crewkerz, it's been on my short list for a new frame for a while. How much was it?
-
Didn't Crossbow try to do something similar not so long ago and then switched to normal frames as they couldn't get it to work?

Heheh nice find and yeah that. Clamps look way bigger and stiffer. 2 massive plates.
I was going to say about the eccentric dropouts as well but they done it
The problem with eccentric dropouts is that they change the geometry as you tighten the chain. I think through axle rear ends and small sprung tensioners like Crewkerz and Clean use is the way forwards. Stiffer rear end, less faffing with brake set up etc.
I think through axle 135 or 142 rear ends would be a sensible standard to adopt for both mod and stock bikes, i don't see why 20" bikes have such narrow rear ends; surely a common size between mod and stock would make things easier for manufacturers and the end user?

You could try some EBC red pads, they're supposed to be quite good.

Really bittersweet looking at the listing as the photo's look great and show the house off really well. But it just reminds me how much I love this place
Sorry Josh, that's properly shit, hope you're as well as can be expected? Get yourself down to Plymouth lad x

I have my old Hydroxx 26" frame hung up in my garage, loved that bike. Rode so nicely, light and stiff. Shame the down tube cracked. Had a 20" dual disc Hydroxx for a short while too, should have kept that.

People don’t seem to understand the rules of cricket. Three former international cricket captains, and one of the greatest bowlers of all time - paid to do commentary - don’t understand one of the most fundamental laws of the game.
crazy pills
He's obviously grounded the ball, I don't see what they're arguing about? It's a bit like the stick they gave Robinson after his celebration for bowling Khawaja out, have they forgotten the previous 30 years and the abuse their players used to dish out?!

Jitsie stem tolerances, pretty bad?

I've got a Brother CNC stem that I need to sell, it's basically a CNC TryAll K2. I bought some new Hashtagg carbon bars and they won't fit through the bar clamps due to the bars odd shape. My Jitsie bars fitted fine. I'll get some photos if you're interested.
