Seems like a lot of hassle though doesnt it.. For a frame that should be designed to run a 128 bb with tensiles aswel as its onza why do you have to do this.. Need to find someone who has this frame and what setup they are running.. Or is it all onzas that are designed this badly.
Ive heard nothing but good things about the shadow chains ! to be honest honest i don't like halflinks as i think there flawed as they always go on the crease but whats the alternative as you will know to get the right tension and wheel placement you generally need a half lnik to do it..
On the chain line thing running a 122 bb i know for definate the chain would be hitting the frame so i am just gonna have to bite the bullet and buy a hope rear brake and run the shorter bb.. Unless someone with a limey has a better solution??
Shadow halflink as a danger chain?? First time i have heard that off anyone.
Tried running the sprocket the other way the chain line is like a banana with a 128 bb and plus the chain is touching the spokes.. Like i said i am now running a short bb which is narrower than a wide bb with a spacer/bashring so what were onza thinking when they were designing this frame? It cant be run with a 128bb.
Exactly the same problem mate so now i have to fork out for either a rear hope or a new set off cranks with a 35mm or more offset..
Just been discussing this in the angry thread i am having trouble with the chain line on a limey mod i have just got. Basically ive had to put a 118 bb in the frame to try and solve the problem but even with the short bb the chain is still very close to the stay.. I have not got a bashring or spacer on the cranks, my freewheel is hard up against the crank arm. So now i have got the problem of my tensiles hitting the maggys because i am running this super short bb.. Anyone else had the same problem and what was the soution? I might just wack a hope on the rear and i think i will be ok but still its a pain in the a**.
Pictures are with the short bb and the chain not tensioned properley.. Notice the chain line thats carved in the frame..
I have looked at all the options myself and I think the schwalbes are the best bet.. I think the rear maxxis will be better but it's hugggge and does weigh a lot more than the betty.. See how I get on with it otherwise I will be getting the softer maxxis but will have to compromise with the weight..
i have used them before, i paid a little bit extra for better packaging ie told him to box it which they dont normally do.. I bought a new echo control frame zhi hub and echo sl headset and all in saved me a lot of money.. I would definately use them again..
I am still waiting for my tyre from chain reaction a schwalbe smart sam up front... the big betty does seem quite grippy but it doesnt like off camber rocks much. might give the 2.7 maxxis a try soon.
Had a nightmare today on the new bike basically couldnt tension the chain properley for longer than five mins. I have a zhi rear hub and i have to run the snail cams on the outside of the frame but it just isnt holding the wheel in place this is because the cams are sitting on the bolts right? and not the axle..?
Anyone know a solution to this or will i have to grind the spacers down so that the snails will run on the inside of the frame??
I have this same problem now with the same mounts.. I even ground the lips off the mounts today but it still slips so i have gave up and a v brake is going on this week...;}
Cant comment on what the tyre rides like yet but it does feel quite a hard rubber.. My mate had to order it from ison distribution as we couldnt find one for sale and this was the only one they had.. Its the triple compound one which i think is the wrong type as there is gooey gluey compound which is the softer one i think,....
So finally got around to building this.. Couple of things needed to finish it off, still waiting on my front tyre from crc and i need to get a shadow chain this week as i have a naughty half link on that i had lying around which i cannot trust in the slightest after snapping a few..
Dying to test it out tomorrow with a fresh grind but from the five mins i have had on it it just feels right, just gonna have to be careful with the chain i am running so can't test it properley till i sort that out.. Comments welcome
Wow loved the video bike looks so fun to ride this has made my mind up for me... Will be ringing tarty this week for a new frame and rims, just hope they have got them in stock!
Also what are the schwalbe tyres like and what are the alternatives?
