  1. looks great buddy, what height and reach is that stem and how do you find it? (Y)

125mm 25 degrese, its tartys own stem, check their website out. ive been having a play today and its so comfy on the back, its a weird position when your on two wheels. Its so much better thean the ech for tgs! having problems with chain tensions at the mo.

Can you upload the pics onto the TF gallery by chance? Some image upload sites are blocked from my Chinese internet access... damn censorship...!

On another note.. how does it compare to your old Echo Urban for TGSy stuff? Is it just leaps and bounds ahead?

How do i upload it onto that?

  2. Sweet good to see tgs style 24" getting a bit more of a fan base, did you sell my old echo frame?

had a couple of folk contact me if it is still for sale i will send them your way. :)

    Kenny

Ive got someone buying it as a whole bike. Got enough spares to build it into one you can pass my info on to threm but the bloke buying it seems genuin.

I hope tgs style 24" keep coming then maybe we wopuld have a wider selection of rims and tyres.

  3. how much it weights? look nice :)

tension is a problem at the mo mate, it was miles too tight in the pc, so i put an extra link in and now its too loose. ive made one of adam from tarty bikes spoke tensioner for now till i solve the problem.

gonna get it weighed today mate. feels really light at the front, the rear tire weighs 1300g though lol.

  4. No, I think the front looks fine. Black forks black wheel - it's cool. I got a double walled rhino lite rim on mine that is ligher than any of the trials ones on tarty atm and it's strong too! In my opinion black headset would be nice. So you only have most of it in 2 colours and red hun just to show yourself of :D It's still very nice man! I love mine!

i was looking at the ryno lite, i like the camo ones lol. not sure yet what exactly im gonna do yet.

I havnt had a proper ride yet but from just hoping it feels so much better than my previous frame. i think im gonna love it!

  5. Updated with some new bits due to fork snappage.

    What you guys think?

  6. Sorry guys another question.

If I'm to build a bike, Could someone please explain how the whole crank/bb section works? As in what is attached to what, what does what etc.

I mean I sort of know how it works but then I was reading about fixed hubs/free hubs... freewheels... sprockets.. chainrings etc etc and quickly realised I wouldn't have a clue what to order!

(Sorry If none of this made any sense!)

    Cheers

    J

The bottom bracket is what screws into the frame, the crank arms bolt onto the bottom bracket axcel and the pedals bolt into the crank arms.

A free hub is a hub that has a drive mechanism built in, like a chris king or a hope pro 2, with these you have a fixed chainring at the front and a splined sprocket (with a spacer kit) at the rear.

A fixed hub just has a screw on sprocket on the rear but to get your drive you have to have a freewheel attached to the cranks

You could also screw the freewheel onto the hub but this would mean you would need a large chain ring at the front.

hope this has cleared thing up for you mate.

  7. oh shite yeh forgot about u. (Y) Im hanginng about 2 weeks n i can add mine to the soup. That blue zoot is pretty nice, was tryin to figure out what it was for a minute. Whats the geo on it? looks like similar cs and bb to an inspired.....

And you can add mine too!

  8. Thankyou for that. Is the bachelor that much better than the 1er and worth spending the extra on? I'm just thinking if it does feels pants its less of a loss to go with the 1er - but at the same time, i'm not going to skimp on my bike...

i got one somewhere, im now running a fixed hub so its no use to me, you can have it for £6 delivered if i find it.

  9. I think you will also find is due to Network Rail trying to cut costs. They are making a lot of reduncys and thats why they are striking. I work for one of there big contractors and they have alread forced a lot of reduncys in my depot due to cost cutting.

The sad thing is it it will take a major rail incident before the goverment realise they have to put the money into railway, at the end of the day there is a lot of people traveling on trains every day and and i hope a train does not comes off because there was not enough staff to maintain the tracks properly.

  10. After reading my bike will inevitably snap, Iv started saving! :giggle:

I have a full diamond back and would be looking to just get another 26" frame.

But I was wanting to know how much, on top of the frame cost, it will cost? Things i can do a straight swap like wheels are great but what would need to be specific to the frame? bottom brackets and things?

    Thanks

depend on you current frame sizes but most thing should swap straight over as long as you have a 63mm bb and 1 1/8 head tube, i would recomend changing the chain though.

  11. Haha, liked that. So much has improved in the years...

    I'd take back:

    - no seats and low stand over frames

    - horizonal dropouts and snail cams - the amount of mech and hangers i've f**ked, id be a lot richer now

    - trialtech cranks (great and affordable)/trialtech in general, great set of products...

Front freewheels go without saying...I want one of the echo ones now :P

    Steve-o x

Front freewheels have been about for years. i got a 12 year monty xlite which had one standard.

  12. unfortunately due to our great national mail servise im still waiting for my trialtech sport bars to turn up!

Its barely even the same bike - it is rediculously better now - so, so much nicer. I would have thrown the old one off a cliff, but now it looks great!

Thank you mate, its amazing how a few bits changed you opinion so much. There is still more to come, i got it weighed and was shocked at the results so its gonna be going on a diet!

    Bet Tartybikes loves me!
