  1. just measured my current stem and its actually 100mm. not 90mm

the rip stem does look good for the price, but i would be a bit worried about the strength, however it does look like the best for my price range.

i used a race face prodigy stem for 2 years with no problems?

i would have used more stem stacker's, however i have no more room with my current set up.

i really don't want a 120mm length stem i would probably stretch to 105mm though! lol

cheers with the reply s, and advice. applicate it.

  2. hey i currently have a onza stem which is i believe 90mm 5 degree rise.

i really want something which is between 10-15 degree rise and still 90mm or i would stretch to 100mm length perhaps.

has to be for the clamp size 31.8??

ive looked on tarty, chain reaction and wiggle and not much luck.

oh and max budget is £20.

anyone know of any good uns?

    cheers

  3. well i would give it a fresh bleed anyway, and see if that solves the problem.

as soon as you press the lever you should see instant movements at the cylinders, if not then there is probably air in the system and will need a bleed as i just said.

    hope this helps

  4. do you mean bleeding the brake so that the cylinders stick further then normal, if so this is possible.

you will probably need a mates hand but if you get some plyers and pull out the mountings that the pads sit on and then bleed it then you end up with the brake being over bleed but you can get more distance with the magura.

i would only use that as a temp solution though, im not sure if it would put any stress on the magura or not?

is the rim to skinny for the frame?

  5. I went through a phase of using tar and other things like hairspray, if you use it though i would say you must be careful not to over apply it. often my pads would stay sticking to the rim.

I always use a grind now, mainly because it doesn't increase the ability to become sticky (thats what a good set of pads is for) the grind just increases the friction between the rim and pads! which i would say is more reliable and predictable then using other sticky substances.

in a quick fix i would say use hair spray, quick and effective, but don't last long!

  6. i just got a dmr trailstar, i know its more of a jump frame, but its a 17 inch frame has a full shimano deore group set (some deore lx) and it really takes to freeride and a bit of cross country well.

its a bit different from thew pic now

and got it for only £110. best to keep an eye out on ebay

  7. pictures look good, riding looks good.

a rather random question, on my Ashton that i bought second hand there a long large sticker on the down tube that has think bikes on it.

did any of you used to ride a black Ashton? haha

  8. hey

i was thinking about getting a bmx to play around with, im only after a cheap one to see if i like it first.

im a complete bmx noob, they all mostly look the same to me.

ive looked in halfords/bikes shops like chainreaction and i just dont know whats any good.

im looking £200 or under and for a bit of a all rounded for street/park?

any help would be greatly appricated

  9. length = centre of bar clamp to centre of fork clamp

rise = the degree rise from where the fork clamp is ( rest the stem on a flat surface like it was on the bike then take a protactor and measure the rise from the ground.

thats how i have always done it anyway.

  10. hey

ive had a few family issues with cancer. a girl i worked with who is 22 i think had breast cancer too but got through it like a trooper!

i haven't ever been through it myself personally, so i wouldn't know how it would affect me but, all i can say is try and keep up a positive lifestyle.

like people have said being positive and keep busy will probably get you through this, as well as being young!

mostly all the best! i am sure everything will be fine :)

  11. Probably best off getting some timeserts fitted. They go in about 7mm and convert back to 5mm. Look it up

looks good ill give them a call tomorrow!

its a 175 drivers crank and a 165 non driver side both square tapered.

i have a spare pair of burns i can use for now so its not to bad!

  12. if the threads are already m6 does the mean i can just insert m5 helicoils, after getting the kit of course?

also what thread pitch are the m6 bolts used for v brakes ? i know that the thread pitch for the standard m5 maggie bolths are 0.8.
