Im going to be using square taper cranks so need some help on what BB to get.Needs to have 68mm shell, But I could do with some suggestions to what axle length to get, and also what Brand/model.I always used to use a Shimano UN53 i think it was. Andeee Posted January 28, 2008 Report Share Posted January 28, 2008 It depends what cranks your running. i.e. clearance between the crank arms and chain stay. psycholist Posted January 28, 2008 Report Share Posted January 28, 2008 If you're reasonably light and smooth the UN-72 should last approximately forever. If you're heavy and have regular 'not very smooth' days like me they snap in under a year (And because the axle is hardened steel, when they go they go suddenly and without warning). The longer the BB axle the more likely it is to fail all other things being equal - trials frames tend to need pretty long square taper BB's though, so 127-128mm sounds about right without me knowing about the specific frame...
