Echo Sl Headset

do NOT get a king headset for trials, it's a fatal schoolboy error. back in the day they used to be OK, but since the invention of front wheel gaps, they just don't last. The top race deforms, and you get permanent play which can't be erradicated without a new top race!

Having had a look at an echo SL headset last weekend, I can safely say it looked lovely, felt perfectly tight and smooth, and weighs absolutely sodd all! If you're spending good money, it's probably a great choice.

First i've heard. Definitely remember that though seeing as it's King. I read problems of them not being the best for bmx either. I hate ally headsets full stop anyway after problems with them.

If you are not to much of a weight wennie , then in my opinion get one of these

FSA pig, only £15 quid mine in amazing real smooth , given me no problems since i got to around 6 months ago! Like i said it is alittle heavy, but in my opinion excellent value for money.

Hope its helps, i personally would take it over the echo any day, on a budget!

I've had a quite a few FSA pigs on XC bikes and after about two years something in the bearing races seems to deform and the play can't be adjusted out of them. The one I used in a trials bike lasted longer than that, so if that's the money you feel like spending it seems a good investment. The Echo headset in my current bike creaks when I load up the front wheel, but I haven't pulled it apart and greased it in a while.

They are good for trials, seems you must have had some very bad experience with yours.

My friend broke 2 Echo headsets in a matter of a month or two, and an FSA Pig shortly before that. He's been using his King for well over a year now.

I've also got a King and am very happy with it but then i'm not what you'd consider a basher.
