Hello Everyone, I Have Meny Questions

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I've been an outsider using this forum for info and learning for a few month's now and thought i'd be much better off to join up. :)

I thought i'd give a little bit of info about me and a couple of question's to throw up too.

I was a trials rider about 8 or 9 years ago and ended up having a bad smash. I had just changed the pad's on a new hope mini that i was trying out on the rear and i trusted it a bit too much. I ended up landing a bit hard and it didn't quite grip. I fell on the lower part of my back twisting my pelvics and slipping a disc. :( I had to stop because i couldn't walk for almost a year. I've wanted to ride but the doc advised me to give it a brake and i ended up selling my bike and part's off. I've been scared to ride since because i still don't quite walk right.

I started off riding 26" and at the time trials bikes weren't really around, at a good price for the masses and ready to buy so we had to build our own. From what i can remember i started off with a DMR sidekick frame, heavy but good practice, hope hub's of some kind, HS33's, Giant forks, like Martyn's. Then a while laters i went on to a pashley, 26mHz i think it was. I was younger then and i really wanted to go in for comps and really try to make some money with it and maybe go pro. Of coarse that never happened and i ended up stopping altogether.

I do remember a brand called onza coming on the market, i think they were a bit poo when they first popped up, but that was the gossip back then  (oh yeah also monty and megamo)

Anyhoo I'd really like to get back into trials again, nothing as serious as before but to keep fit and enjoy the sport once again.

I've been thinking about starting up again but on 20"? I'm not really up on 20" bike's but i've seen some nice looking bit's up for sale on here.

I'm after something for bouncing around on rock/log's, some flat land stuff, nothing too major........yet. :wink2: Something fairly light, can be stock, and with some HS33's. How much would i be looking at spending to get back riding again?

I'm now 9 years unfit-er than before and although music is a bit part of my life now, (bass player :blues: ), i still have that burning need to ride!!!!! I've been out of the trial's loop for a while now and would really like some of your advice on what i might do now.

Thank you for reading, sorry if i ramble a bit i'm getting a tad excited about riding again :teehee:

Take it easy, Shawn

Sounds like a big shitter. Good you have something else you enjoy though.

A mod is an easy way to get back into it. They are real different from they were, not so much visually. Apart from the lack of flat bars and lower frames. If your after just hopping about then something with a nice medium/ long length would be good. Maybe a big stem to help with the back as well.

It will depend on the all important budget. The Atomz Premier seems a nice no nonsense bike that should suit.

arrrr sorrry to her about the smash

Was a pisser. i've seen so many people come off bike, but it only takes one dodgy fall.......

Still i'm going to get riding again asap!

Second hand yes. New, no.

Cool ok well i'll keep a wig out on ebay and on here. I've been looking online today and some of the 20" onza t's might do the job. The longer stem might help like you said. :D I do like a bike with fairly long chain stays......
