Should i buy a new freewheel?

At the moment there is a mystery no name freewheel on my cranks and its crap, only 20 points of engagement. Im not onto pedal kicks yet just getting up obstacles and trying to learn the wheelie drop off. When i try and put in a hard pedal stroke it feels kind of distant, almost as if it makes little difference.

Is this down to the freewheel or just my lack of talent?

cheers

Yes buy a new one. Even if its a tensile 60 click, it'll be loads better than what you have on now. There's the odd freewheel comes up now and again on here, bang a wanted ad up
