Rear Sprocket Removal

Could I remove the rear sprocket with an oil filter remover? looks the same as the proper sprocket remover tool.

Oh yeah and which way do you turn it :-

do you mean from an 7 8 or 9 speed one or one of a mod type thing. if its off a mod yes but they are very hard to get off i hade to get an angle grinder 2 one to get it off if you can put the sprocket in a vice and turn the wheel hope this helps

and they turn atiyclockwise[sp]

Sure are, unless you've got a flip-flop (threads on both side) hub, and you're trying to put it on the micro-drive side, in which case it won't fit. Other than that, every screw-on sprocket will fit every mod hub or front freewheel crank :-

Bump from the grave, I buggered up my rear cog tonight by having my chain too tight, where is the cheapest place to get cogs? I can only see one's for £20 on cleanbikes and tartybikes.....
