i would be a police man, so you could go out and arrest loads of little fooks!!

Just to be a policeman, you have to be REALLY fit, the fitness test is meant to be REALLLLLY long and hard!

so why is it most of the police round here are big and fat and cant run to save their lives

Do you balls have to be fit to join the police, i know a chap who used to take us for football and hes just become a policeman and hes proper fat and out of shape.

The police does seem a good job, well paid and its not like you cant better yourself there loads of promotion i should expect, and you retire early as ive heard and get a nice pension.

personally if i had the choice id say police unless you can get a job in journalism that you know youll like, like mbuk for example i would expect that would have percs but in the long run id expect the police to be better.

I think police force would be a great career, decent pay get a lot of respect and free stuff.

Meet loads of people and learn how to handle problems, also finally getting justice on twats etc.

I think the police get a lot of unessacary shit and there jobs are kinda ovelooked, theres a lot more paper work than actually patrolling the streets and every time the make an arrest they normally have to do a lengthy right up.

Hence why they normally give warnings etc and dont arrest chavs etc also ovelook many burgalaries as normally theres a small chance thell get caught.

And there'll have seen that same scene over and over again and will be bored of it.

Id defo try and get in the police force but theres a high demmand for jobs around here and you have to be ,like 21 before you can enrole.

Found out I might not pass the eyesight test which is unfair Ill pass the fitness thing I used to run cross country, still play football I healthy.

As for my writing this a forum I dont care about my grammer in the professional job I would spell check everything and check grammer and stuff inm not stupid.

I like both but the police is the most likily as I havent seen any journalism jobs advertised in the bmx/biking or computer game area.

Oh just read the last bit Im 21 so no prob there

I know my shhissle when it comes to biking I could write reviews infact Ive writen a few on a bmx forum and they seem to have had possitve feedback on them.

If I was to apply for journalism Id happily write them a view articles or reviews.

Atleast Im looking for a job now so Im no longer a lazy b*****d

You do need to be fit. I know you do.

I've been looking at the Police too Michael. My best mate's cousin went to get in and failed fitness. I'm not sure about the guy's 'soccer coach' or whatever, but I know you need to do intensive training to get through the selection processes.

One of my mum's friends at work has a daughter and she's going to the gym 3 times a week making sure her CV fitness and explosive strength etc is all in top condition. You fail one part of the program, you do it all again.

I really like the idea of superiority and putting something back into the community to be honest. When I meet police which are police, civil and generally nice guys, who might even have to tell you not to do something when you're biking, I respect them and think they're pretty cool.

I'm not sure whether to do into Journalism / Media / Graphic Design / Website design kinda of thing. Which is really competative at the moment. Some people (like Simon from Trials-Shack) really kick ass at stuff and they're uber young (he's only 18 i believe (Y)) That kinda of competition makes it hard to get a good job! I really like photography and aren't too shabby on website production, however I'm best at the initial designs for them. As you will find from the new Heatsink website I hope :D

On the other hand, I could go into the police after University. I'm definately going to university as I want a degree to fall back on. As they're good for anything in my opinion. Criminology possible, or graphic design? Or business stuff if I like business studies next year for 6th form :)

Then there's the process of going through the police. 2 years minimum of being 'on the beat'. Then you get into squad cars and can go into specialist areas like fire arms, helicopters, motorbike, high speed pursuit unit etc.

Thought it might help you anyway. Sorry for the big, f**k off rant!

Thats what Im worried about I have no journalistic related skills other than I took a degree that required me writing an essay every month, working to tight dealines, organisational skills etc...

I can take photos if I have to but I think the addvantage I do have is that I am very passionate about biking related stuff and I do know my shit about everything from dh to trials to bmx to dirt jumping. I dlove the opputunity to travel to events and write about them, I feel Ive relied on these magazines and theyve impacted on who and what I am in biking I want to put something back into it. I sure as hell know I could never design parts so I want to put something back into the sport through a more academic method ie writing about it.

Im also much better at communicating my ideas and thoughts on something via writing that orally even though it doesnt seem like it on here but hats becasue I cant spare the time to write nine pages on a topic on here but in a professional envirnoment I would.

Thats my rant over

Being a journalist is a very popular job at the moment with loads of people wanting to go into it, so you may find it hard to find something competing against all these people who have English and Journalism degrees.

However, I really have no clue, I would have said policeman, but you can't be that, so meh.

I reckon your going to get shot in either of the jobs. Reasons for this, journalism your going to release a story that somebody really doesnt want you to and they are gonna shoot you! Police, well if you lock someone up and they have dodgy mates your gonna get shot!

Errrm sorry mate nice knowning you :shifty:

stu :P
