Gear Ratio Help?

This may have already have been posted before but i couldnt find the answer so.......

Would changing the gear ratio on my bike make any differences on how high and far i can crank hop etc..? Or is it just the way the body movment is on the bike? Or both? Thanks Nigel

its probably abit of both really, i expect (looking at your bike) a higher gear would help, maybe 22/18 or 16/14, and learning technique by watching more experienced riders, just my opinion though,

yeah he uses 18-18 lol..

maybe try 22 16??

i dont think theres a most mods gear, its personal pref, i had 16/12 on my mod

an on his bike its probably easier an cheaper to go 22 and whatever gear? on the back

22-18 is very heavy gearing i had it for a while and found when on backwheel setting up for a side hop it feels horrible,

i heard 22-19 is meant to be perfect gearing but i couldnt find a 19 tooth cog so im using 22-20 at the moment and seems good.

almost all mod riders run 18-12 (ratio is 1.5:1) because it gives a good balance of power and liftyness

22-16 is ok (ratio is 1.375:1 ), it's slightly easier to get the front up but you lose a bit of power on gappy moves.

there's no point comparing to stock gear ratios because the wheel size makes it completely different

if you run anything too different from 1.5:1 on a mod you're just odd and you're probably making life harder for yourself

ups, my tensile has 18, right its 18- 12 soz about that, well from how you ride in your vid

its looks like you could do with a higher gear ratio becouse you put in a lot of effot and

your not pedle kicking (lurching) that far. if it was a tad higher you would find it alot easer

to do biger stuff more smooth. but you also need to put in efort yourself. cheers soz for upsy.

Yes...It deffo helps your riding, i used to run the T-bird gearing...now run 18-12

On my Mod I use a 22 14 and i find that a nice gear but again it is all down to personal preference

Sorry people, just counted the teeth on the cogs and i have just found out that i am running a 22 on the front and 16 on the back. What should i change it to or should i leave it?
