  1. Many thanks to Trials Forum for this new competition forum. The TykeTrial Club runs events in North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Lancashire. We're always looking for new venues and try to try out at least one new place each year. Dates and venues for 2011 are:- Round 1 - 13th March - Shipley Glen (Baildon, West Yorkshire) Round 2 - 3rd April - Harden Moor (Area 1) (Keighley/Bingley, West Yorkshire) Round 3 - 15th May - Lee Mill Quarry (Bacup, Lancashire) Round 4 - 17th July - Branshaw Quarry (Oakworth/Keighley, West Yorkshire) Round 5 - 4th September - Penistone (Haworth/Keighley, West Yorkshire) Round 6 - 9th October - Harden Moor (Area 2) (Keighley/Bingley, West Yorkshire) Round 7 - 6th November - Lee Mill Quarry (Bacup, Lancashire) Open weekend and Team Trial at the famous Brimham venue (near Harrogate, North Yorkshire) - 11th and 12th June - Not to be missed! Open to everyone, you don't have to be a club member to enter this event. More information later! TykeTrial is a Club, as with all clubs you do need to be a member to take part in their normal activities. Membership runs from January to December each year, and to make it as easy as possible for people to join, all you need to do is complete a membership form and make the payment. You can now even do this on-line from the club's web-page HERE. We can send all information to you via email (£10 per annum) or by normal post (£15 per annum). Once you've joined you'll get all the information, Newsletters, Entry Forms, Results etc sent out to you. Apart from actually entering the event, you do NOT need anything further to ride at TykeTrial events (no licences such as ACU or BIU etc). If you're not sure whether you'll enjoy it or not, and don't want to fork out the £10 or £15 membership, you can enter ONE event as a Day Member at a cost of £3. For each event, as the time draws near, an entry form will be added to the Events page of the BikeTrial Federation website; you will be able to either print off an entry form and send it to us with a cheque, or you'll be able to enter and pay on-line. If you have any general questions about the TykeTrial Club, or about its events, either post in here, or email us at membership@biketrialuk.co.uk We hope you can join us for 2011 - the more people there, the more fun it is! 4. TykeTrial's Christmas Special event postponed The Tyketrial Club regrets to announce that the Tyke Trial Christmas Special and the 2010 Tyke Trial Annual General Meeting, which were due to take place on Sunday 12th December, have been postponed. The conditions at Harden Moor, where the competition was to be held, have meant that it would not be feasible to run a safe, enjoyable trial for everybody involved. While we do not doubt the abilities of our riders in the slightest, the amount of snow and ice on the rocks and ground have made setting safe sections an impossibility. In addition to this, melted snow and ice on the footpaths means that the ground is incredibly slippery and uneven underfoot and we are concerned that just getting around the venue would be hazardous for spectators, officials and riders alike. The weather conditions have also meant that we have received a very low number of entries for the event as people were concerned about travelling and riding with roads etc. as they are. We are therefore postponing the event and the AGM that was due to follow it, in the interest of the safety and enjoyment of our club members. The event will take place at a later date, to be confirmed, when the venue has thawed out a bit and as soon as a date has been set it will be published on the Biketrial Federation's events page and various other media. Entry fees that were paid by cheque have not yet been processed and cheques can either be returned, destroyed or kept back for entry for the rescheduled event. Entry fees that were paid in cash can be returned or kept back for the rescheduled event. Entry fees paid on-line will be refunded immediately We would like to apologise to those members who had entered the trial and were planning on attending the AGM. It is always disappointing when an event cannot be run, but we hope that you can understand the reasons behind this difficult decision.
  5. It is a field, but don't worry, there's about half a mile of layby alongside the road if the field looks bad, loads of room for parking. All it is is that the pub don't want all of us trying to park in their small car park. Just checked the weather forecast ... sunshine Thursday, rain Friday, warmer Saturday ... so hopefully the snow should go before Sunday.
  6. So ... let me get this right ... everyone else pays for the venue, the toilets, the insurance etc etc ... you just come and ride for free? Not really in the spirit of Christmas is it ? Come and join in properly, you'll enjoy it much more.
  7. Ok, the entry form is working ok now. Sorry about that! Hope to see you all on the 12th !
  8. Hey, sorry about this. I tested the form offline and it worked fine - it doesn't once it's uploaded though! Will speak to providers tomorrow to sort it out.
  9. Silly me ... Sunday 12th December ... all the info is on the entry form here (scroll down to near the bottom)
  10. TykeTrial Club invites everyone to join them at their Christmas Special Trial at the Harden Moor venue above Keighley/Bingley in West Yorkshire. An end of season fun event with two laps of 5 sections, followed by a hot buffet lunch at the Guide Inn, followed by as much riding as you want. Special Christmas awards for the top 3 in each class and a prize for the best decorated Christmas bike and rider! Everyone is welcome, open to non-members and those just wanting to have a go at competitions - but as food has to be ordered and paid for in advance you will need to let them know by filling in the on-line entry form and payment from the Events page of the biketrial website. £10 per rider (to include food) and £5 per person not riding for food. Give a trials comp a go in a fun, relaxed setting! www.biketrialuk.co.uk

  12. or you could have more success finding TykeTrial at here
  13. For the club Anyone who pays £10 for "email membership" should get the forms etc sent to them by email. Anyone who pays the £15 for "postal membership" should get everything through the post. Day members paying the £3 should get the results from the event they entered, plus an entry form for the next trial. We do sometimes make mistakes though!
  14. Hi The purpose of "Day Membership" is to give a new rider the opportunity to try a comp out before paying his full membership fee. If he tries it once and decides to come again, then he should join the club properly as he's decided he does like it. However ... there are only two more events this year, the Harden event, and a Christmas one for a bit of fun (not announced yet). It would be unfair of us to make you pay a tenner membership for just those two events. Please, enter the event, put down as Day Member (and a note that you've spoken to Barbara) and you'll be ok for this year. If you plan on coming again next year, then obviously you enjoy it and you will need to join the club properly for 2011. Barbara TykeTrial
  15. This is tragic news. Gavin was such a lovely lad, a valued member of our club and a great rider. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends and this sad time.
  16. Competition at Lee Quarry, Bacup on Sunday, mixture of man-made and natural sections. Signing on from 9.00am, start at 10.30am.
  17. Due to heavy snow overnight the TykeTrial event on 21st February had to be cancelled. This has now been rearranged to be held on Sunday 21st March. Entry form can be downloaded from here, or you can enter and pay on-line. Payments from those who had entered for February will be carried forward, but we do need a new entry form from you. Don't forget - TykeTrial is a club and you do need to be a club member. And don't forget, as a club we do not accept entries on the day so get your entry off now to save disappointment!

  19. Not as proud as we are - a really big well done Jack from everyone at the TykeTrial Club.
  20. Cockhill Mines are near Pateley Bridge in North Yorkshire, just over the hill from Brimham Rocks. It's an amazing venue with some great sections to be had in the stream as long as it isn't too full. Last year it rained all Saturday and it was like a torrent but we managed to set a couple of sections in it. This link should show you where it is, there is even a photo! http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=54.079282,...076218&z=14
  21. Thankyou to everyone who made the Brimham Rocks Trial a roaring success and an extremely emotional day for many people. It was wonderful to see Kevin and Samantha walking the sections and inspiring some of the riders. They both spoke to all the observers and were so pleased you all came along to show your respect for their son and for them. You should all be proud of yourselves. One of the things Ben hated about trials was the number of sections. He felt 3 rounds of 7 was too much and really couldn't get on with 2 rounds of 10. His perfect trial would have been 2 rounds of 8 sections which is what we tried on Sunday. Did you like it? Are there enough sections? I found I could concentrate better and not get fed up queuing not that it helped my result much!! Keep up the momentum of this trial by getting your entries in before the deadline for the Cockhill Mines trial which is on the 19th of July. Last year was a blast with plenty of water to keep you cool. This year we hope the stream, which runs through the back of the venue, will not be in flood as it was last year so we can put more sections in it. Please get your entries off as soon as you can because I haven't seen Barbara as relaxed before a trial for a long time! You also allowed her to spend more time with Ben's parents which meant a lot both them and Barbara. Thankyou again for a great weekend, it makes it all worthwhile. We look forward to seeing you all at Cockhill on the 19th.

  23. Danny The English dictionary defines gay as 'merry' 'lively' 'cheerful' 'bright' and 'homosexual.' Which of these applies to not being able to fill out a form? Have you contacted the secretary of the meeting to explain your situation? Thursday is the last day for entries and 125 forum members have read this thread so if all those people turned up we would have a record number of people at a trial this year. If you have not been able to enter come along to watch and also talk to the organisers to see just what is involved in running a trial. You will be surprised. We will be remembering Ben at the weekend and I think Barbara hit the nail on the head. He would have given anything to be there at the weekend as I am sure his parents would. You all still have the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic sport and some are lucky enough to live near these venues and practice there. Don't lose what you love so much by running the volunteers into the ground and making this a chore rather than a pleasure.
  24. Wise words old man! John is right and is also aware what life is like without trials to hand. Tyketrials is probably the most organsied trials club in the UK at the moment but is being run down by the lack of support from it's members. The amount of effort that goes into organisng these events is incredible and the amount of time it takes to process entries on the day can and does delay the start of the trial. So have a go at getting your entry, including the entry fee, in the post when it comes through your door. The recent trial in Fort Bill was well supported and all the riders there, the majority of who only get to ride one organised trial a year, pre entered which is unheard of for a Tyketrials event. So come on get your entries in and get the club back on the rails, not just for this event but future ones as well. You have to do it at some time so make sure it is before the closing date.
  25. Saturday has been cancelled. Camping has been cancelled. Pre-entries only for Sunday.
