  12. Thanks to everyone that came along to the Harden Moor trial at the weekend, hope you all enjoyed it! The sections were tough and challenging, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and there were still some very low scores, so well done everyone! This was Barbara's last trial as a director and committee member of the club and we had a meeting after the trial to appoint a new committee. There is now a great new team of people in charge of running the club and its events and the future looks bright for TykeTrial! There will be a transitional period while roles and tasks are passed over, but keep an eye out for an announcement of the new committee members in the next few weeks. TykeTrial would like to take this opportunity to thank Barbara for all of her hard work and dedication and for everything that she's done for the club over the last 16 years. She's been the face and the backbone of the club for so long and has done an absolutely fantastic job. She'll be greatly missed! Thank you Barbara!
  13. Results from the previous TykeTrial event at Bracken Rocks are online now. We've finally had confirmation of the venues for Round 9 at Harden Moor on 24th November, and round 10 at Shipley Glen on 29th December. Entry forms for both events are attached below and, as usual, you can enter and pay on-line via the events page on the Biketrial Federation website: http://www.biketrialuk.co.uk/Events.htm The deadline for Harden is next Thursday, so do please get your entries in as soon as possible. PLEASE NOTE: There will not be a food van at the Harden event as Dave, our regular butty man, will be in hospital. We will be taking equipment to make hot drinks, but you will need to bring your own food along. As many of you will already know, Barbara is retiring from TykeTrial at the end of this year. We therefore need a couple of people to volunteer to take on some of the secretarial and preparation work going forward. If anyone is interested in learning how to do the event secretary's job and helping out with the club, please contact Barbara (info@biketrialuk.co.uk) as soon as possible and she will happily show you what needs doing for each event. It would be good to use preparation for the Harden and Shipley events as a 'training session'. Without a secretary, these events cannot run, so it is vital that we find people to help with these roles in the future. If you can help at a couple of club events each year, we would love to hear from you! 13-TT-9-Harden.pdf 13-TT-10-ShipleyGlen.pdf
  14. Results now on-line www.biketrialuk.co.uk/events.htm Next TykeTrial event is at Addingham Moorside, then the next Derbyshire event is at Dudwood Farm.
  15. Online entry form and online payment available from www.biketrialuk.co.uk/events.htm It's a new secretary for this event so help her out and send off the entries in plenty of time!

  17. The deadline for pre-entries for Sunday's trial at Shipley Glen is tomorrow. Entries and membership applications can still be made online. You do need to be either a day member (if you've never been before and want to try it out) or a full member (everyone else) in order to take part. It's really easy to join and enter online, just head over to the website! www.biketrialuk.co.uk/tyketrial.htm www.biketrialuk.co.uk/events.htm Hope to see you all there!
  18. Hi everyone and a happy new year to you! The new season is almost upon us and it's looking good so far! There were some changes to the club decided at the AGM - nothing major, but please take a moment to make sure you are up to date with how the club and its events are being run. The minutes from the AGM are available here. In 2013 we will be using plenty of new venues and covering a much wider area, which means more events and hopefully more riders! To take part in it all, the first thing you need to do is renew your membership, which for this year covers the period 1st January 2013 to 30th June 2014. You can either download and print the entry form (also attached to this post) and send it with a cheque, or you can complete the form and pay on-line on the Tyke Trial homepage. Next, you need to enter the events. These will always be listed on the Events page of the website. The first two events are ready for entries now, with an option to print (either download from the events page or print the attached forms) and post or enter and pay on-line. Round 1 at Shipley Glen is less than two weeks away so please do get your memberships and entries sent off as soon as possible. Apologies for the short notice, but as we're sure you're all aware, there have been some issues with access to the land, all of which have now been sorted. Finally, please be aware, although we will still accept entries on the day, we do ask that everyone enter and pay in advance as this helps enormously with pre-event admin and organisation. On-the-day and late entries will be accepted, but it will cost you an extra £5.00 in late entry fees! Really looking forward to this year and hope to see you all at Shipley Glen on Sunday 24th February. All the best, The Tyke Trial Committee 13-TT-1-ShipleyGlen.pdf 13-TT-2-Burycliff Quarry.pdf TT-MembershipForm2013.pdf
  19. SHIPLEY GLEN IS ON FOR THE COMPETITIONS .... We've just received confirmation that Shipley Glen has been approved for the events. Please don't forget, when you're riding up there to pay attention to walkers and be courteous. We don't want to lose this venue! EDIT: A further email asks us to try to persuade riders NOT to go to Shipley Glen when there are no events running. It was pointed out that mountain bikers also ride on the Glen, not just trials riders, but I would pass on the request.
  20. Unfortunately it is only a few people who have complained. It is the council's job to listen to the complaints and take action as appropriate - it's not their fault! I'm sure that you all act appropriately and respectfully to members of the public but there will always be some who complain. Is it even trials bikes they're complaining about? We don't know. The council will get back to us within the next week or so to let us know their decision, but this first round on 24th February MAY have to be postponed while further discussions take place.
  21. Great meeting today at the AGM. Loads of changes ... The club year will in future run from July to June, with this first year of the change running for an 18 month period from January 2013 to June 2014 so loads of trials to go at in there! This means in the future that the final trial of the season will be held at the annual Brimham 2-day event, along with future Annual General Meetings, and the presentation of the the Annual Trophies - so you no longer have to wait 6 months to get the previous year's awards. In addition, the club is spreading the trials area to include venues in the Sheffield / Derbyshire area. Don't worry, if you can't travel far then you will only need to ride at a certain number of events out of the total club events. Dates for 2013 are set so you can put them into your diaries, but the planned venues are still provisional until all the landowners have been contacted. Rnd 1 - 24th February 2013 - Shipley Glen Rnd 2 - 10th March 2013 - Sheffield/Derbyshire area Rnd 3 - 14th April 2013 - Addingham Moorside Rnd 4 - 19th May 2013 - Sheffield/Derbyshire area Rnd 5 - 29-30th June 2013 - High Wood Farm, Brimham Rnd 6 - 18th August 2013 - Sheffield/Derbyshire area Rnd 7 - 22nd September 2013 - Branshaw OR Lee Mill Quarry Rnd 8 - 27th October 2013 - Bracken Rocks Rnd 9 - 24th November 2013 - Harden Moor Rnd 10 - 29th December 2013 - Shipley Glen Dates for 2014 to complete this first 18month season will be released in December 2013 after the National dates have been announced. As you can see, that's a pretty full calendar for you all to get in plenty of practice for the Nationals, and at a brilliant range of venues! As you can tell from the dates, we're trying to keep you going throughout the year without leaving any blank spots! Hope all the members approve! The 2013 membership form will be ready soon, be sure to fill it in and send it off as soon as possible to make sure you get all the up to date information. Looking forward to a great year for trials. http://www.biketrialuk.co.uk/tyketrial.htm
  22. Pre-entry closed last night - did you enter on time? Entries will be accepted on the day as usual, subject to a £5 late entry fee. We will be going to the Guide Inn pub, just down the road from the venue, afterwards for an informal meeting and end-of-season drink, feel free to join us!
