  1. Have you all got your entries in for this Sunday, 1st May at Bob Macgregor? Last day for pre-entries tomorrow!!!
  2. Yeh, was good fun! "Section 9, which took place just before the medal presentation, was a speed obstacle race against the clock, with 2 routes just for fun though with a few fallers but all with smiles and egging each other on. Eventual winner on section 9 the hard route was Charlie Rolls with a time of 25.76 seconds. The easier route was won by Joe Gatrill timed at 13.20"
  3. An excellent report on the first round of the British last week, thanks to Graham Tickner ... don't miss out on the next round at Bob Macgregors, only a few days to go! British National Cycle Trials Cup.2016 Round 1 - Seymours Arena, Oxfordshire 10th April British National Cycle Trials – Round 1 commenced at Seymours Arena, Oxfordshire which hosts the famous North Berks Bonanza. The 8 sections were marked out and taped the day before but persistent rain / wind overnight caused markers to be dislodged and numbers on gates disappeared, but by the start time all was in order as the sun came out and stayed out for the whole of the event. The wind however was still around and made some riders drop a 5 when they were on the high rocks. Two minutes were allowed to clear a section which did cause a little heartache, but as riders settled in their time came down. Section 1 – With a start gate on the hillside then to drop down into the gulley of rocks and make their way upwards, speed was essential for the Expert and upwards. This then led on to a water jump and the only way to do this was from a small ledge, and turning on the back wheel and just to go for it, too long thinking about it and you would be out of time. In the Expert senior group Ryan Crisp (B1K3) and Will Ackerley (Crewkerz) who has recently moved up to this class were neck and neck on 7 points after the first lap. A single dab on lap 2 when Will had previously cleaned this section, followed by a 5 on the windy section 2 meant he finished 1 point adrift from Ryan Crisp coached by Darryl Smith. Andrew Chai (GU) rode well taking the bronze medal, and Tom Astbury (Bionic) missing the podium but a good 2nd lap by him. Adam Birchmoore (Monty 221pr) in the novice senior group was happy taking his first win in the British Nationals after a second lap of just 9. There were four riders very close in his group after their first lap, Carl Weightman (Neon) held the second place holding off Joe Gatrill (Zoo) who continues to get better the more he rides. The primary senior group which is a new class that was introduced this year to encourage new riders to the sport saw 10 year old Samuel Meeton (Monty) having a second lap of just 1 mark lost on section 6, a Gold for him. Oscar Jones (Onza) took the silver and Jake Green 3rd place, both 17 marks lost on their last lap. Local rider Nate Robinson just 2 marks off the podium, and Elliott Cooper (Hashtag) another 3 adrift. Nine year old Bailey Dacker (Onnit) took the primary class win with 10 marks lost on the day. Elite class, which had a good entry had Andrei Burton (Echo) top of the podium on just 9 marks lost, 5 marks were lost on section 7. Dave Kerr (Crewkerz) was runner up, with Sam Oliver taking the bronze medal. Section 9, which took place just before the medal presentation, was a speed obstacle race against the clock, with 2 routes just for fun though with a few fallers but all with smiles and egging each other on. Eventual winner on section 9 the hard route was Charlie Rolls with a time of 25.76 seconds. The easier route was won by Joe Gatrill timed at 13.20. Many thanks to North Berks MCC and all concerned in staging this event Especially Stuart Robinson. Thank you to main sponsors Tarty Bikes and Trial Tech. The awards were presented by Biketrial Federation Chairman, George Eyre and Administrator Barbara Wright. A brilliant day with plenty of good feedback. Round 2 of the 5 rounds will be staged at Bob McGregor Trials Park, near Glasgow on 1st May 2016. Full Results can be viewed on Bike Trial Federation Web site www.biketrialuk.co.uk.

  7. Congratulations to the £20 winner ... Many many thanks to everyone who completed our survey to help us to improve our trials events for you. You gave us loads of really useful feedback and some excellent ideas. Over the next few months, before the start of the 2016 season, we'll be looking into how we can make some of these things happen to make the events fairer for the competitors and more fun for everyone of all ages and abilities to join in. Watch the site for information coming up about next year's series. In the meantime, the winner of the £20 Tartybikes voucher was entry number 31 .... Lyndsay Dacker (Bailey's mum). Congratulations Bailey! We hope you all have a very Happy Christmas and that Santa brings you everything you want!
  8. I'm not going to comment on the negative posts above - we're a handful of people doing what we can (self-funded) to run the competitive sport for you and are trying to make it better! I've spent the evening reading the responses so far - they are really interesting, with some really helpful comments and suggestions. Once the survey finishes on 20th December all the replies will be reviewed and we promise to take into account and put into action as much of the feedback as we possibly can. In fact some ideas have already been put into action for 2016 with some new venues (one with man-made sections) and plans for a more "fun" element in progress. Many thanks to everyone who's taken part so far, if you haven't filled in the survey yet, do please give us your ideas, just click here, tick the boxes and type in your comments.
  9. Hi everyone Whether you’ve been to a trial or not in the last few years, we want your feedback on how we could improve the experience for you. Please complete this survey to help us understand. As a reward for doing it, fill in your name and email address on the form and you’ll be put into a prize draw for a £20 Tartybikes voucher – do it as soon as possible, the draw will take place on Sunday 20th December. Good luck in the draw everyone J
  10. Hi, it would be great to see you there! Check out our website www.biketrialuk.co.uk to see what's gone on this year. Next year's dates and venues will be released in the next couple of weeks but we've some good different ones coming up. Regards classes, check out this video that was put together for us at the Fort William event a couple of years ago, it might help with your decision on which class to enter. https://vimeo.com/68776257 If you do enter a particular class and then decide it's the wrong one, it's not a problem. You can ride up to 3 sections and still change your mind, you just go back to control and we'll move you to another class of your choice. Any more questions just shout out!

  18. Can't wait for those cakes Well, after all my worrying, we have the second highest pre-entry this year so it should be a good weekend. We can still accept entries on the day so it could even end up being the biggest event this year - just hope the weather stays good! See you all there.
  19. Hi Ross Scare-mongering? ... up to this time last week we had received about 3 entries and was worried that we would have to cancel for the first time ever! Pleased to say that we're now well-subscribed ... I've received 10 entries just today! Seriously though, people are just leaving entering events later and later - it happened with the recent Tykes event too that all the entries came in in the last couple of days. We REALLY do need to know sooner as it does take a lot of planning, organisation and obviously cost! Play fair lads - support the events and get entries in as soon as you possibly can. Great to hear that the training day is fully subscribed too Barbara
  20. Yes, this weekend, 15th and 16th August at Bob Macgregor Trials Park. Saturday, free training day organised by Tartybikes - to enrol, just give them a call on 01772 32 33 33 Saturday night, camping just £5 Sunday, 4th Round of the British Trials Cup, come along for a fun competition. 21. The trials year has got off with a great start at Hook Woods in Surrey, and at Seymours Arena in Oxfordshire - now we move to the north to the fantastic weekend planned at Fort William on 6th and 7th June. As usual, the event is part of the UCI World Downhill event and entry to the trial gives you free access to everything else that's going on in the World Cup village - loads of trade stands, demos, competitions, crowds of people, etc. Check it out at http://fortwilliamworldcup.co.uk. And with the normal cost of a weekend ticket of £52 per adult and £26.50 for a child, it makes entry to our competition well worthwhile! Each rider gets a weekend pass for themselves and for one minder (our observers also get a free pass so bring mum along to observe and make a family weekend away!) The entry form can be downloaded, or as usual you can enter and pay on-line from www.biketrialuk.co.uk/Events.htm. The closing date to make sure you get your free passes is Sunday 31st May. This year our competition includes three laps, two on Saturday and one on Sunday morning so you'll be able to soak up the World Downhill atmosphere and finals on Sunday afternoon before the presentations. We'd love to see all the Scottish riders come along to enter, we've not seen many of you for a while and the sport in the north needs everyone's support, and it really is a great weekend! Come along and claim some of the new Trialtech medals for Scotland! The 4th round of the series is also in Scotland at the Bob McGregor Trials Park so there's an even better chance for you to take away extra Championship points this year! Don't forget to keep looking for up to date news on our website www.biketrialuk.co.uk and our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Biketrial-Federation-UK/379772689176. There's loads of pictures and information about what's going on in trials around the country. Hope to see you all there!
  22. A really good weekend at Seymours, pictures now on our facebook page and results on our website www.biketrialuk.co.uk. Well done to everyone who rode and thank you all for coming along.
