  2. i was going to ride Kent but it looks like there a London ride this sunday so im going there and all being well get a load of filming done and get a london vid up, Spode is going to be doing some pix i think to.
  3. The wife has said she will untie me this weekend so i will be joining the crowd, Im going to try and get some filming too.
  4. Im not going to be coming now, as I have got some dead lines meet, sorry Ron. Anyway I would sooner spend a few days there. For about 6-7 hours of travelling im only going to get 4 or so hours riding and I lose a whole day in the process. I will rather wait till the summer and make a long weekend of it.
  5. There is an allowed tolerance, what that is on your disc I don’t know you will find it varies from disc to disc depending on thickness, I would change them, but im a bit cautious as I work as an aircraft engineer and have seen the out come of distorted and worn discs, remember they will not get better only worse.
  6. This is my version of Desert Island Discs BBC Radio 4s longest running programme. It was first broadcast on January 29 1942 You invited to imagine yourself as castaways on a desert island, and asked to choose these items to take: Three Albums Three Films One Book, excluding the Bible or other religious work One luxury item, which must be inanimate and of no survival value Your favourite riding spot. Your bike and endless supply of spares, food, and means of playing your chosen music are deemed to be already present on the island. Apparently the decision of their choices permits a review of their life.
  7. I agree with you there, there is no doubt about it the disc is better, that’s why they put them on cars, busses, lorries, motor bikes, aircraft etc, but like it says above the frame has to be up to it and the rear wheel, as for bending them well I side hop both ways and in 4 or 5 years I have bent one and I was able to bend it back. Maybe it’s personal preference or maybe its people being scared of being different.
  8. I know people think it looks gay but you really want to be doing some stretching before and after your ride, just because your doing trials doesn't mean your not an athlete.
  9. Ok sounds like thats the place, i will get Darren, Craig and Dave Urmson along there. 12 at the normal place then...
  10. If you have the money go twin disc, the myth of hitting them is rubbish, your going to brake things doing trials whatever you use so you may as well go for a brake that works. I know people that have maguras and they damage them side hoping. I have been running discs for years now and have damaged one disc (a replacment cost of £20). Discs always work, until you get oil on them. Then the same can be said about rim brakes.
  11. So how many people are going to ride Dover tomorrow?
  12. Dave Lowe

    Bars?

I use azonic double wall, I know allot of people are not sure about them because of snapping, but I’m a light rider and I change them every year, but I think I would change my bars annually what ever I was using.
  13. Where is the best place to park and meet in dover
  14. Theres a few of us going down to Dover at around 12, anybody want to join in?
  15. You may want to get your self some Surgical Spirit, its good for hardening the skin, I use it and i never get callouses.
  16. Q: Why would do you use disc cleaner on a disc? A: To remove OIL & GREASE. Think about it....
  17. you need a pair of good quailty cable cutters
  18. When it comes to the crunch, you have to make the ultimate decision and what works for some people will not work for you. I will give you a quick run down on me. I never did any school exams/qualification not even GCSEs (I left school at 9 but that’s another story) went straight into full time employment at 16 as a bike mech, read lots of books on things like engineering and developed my knowledge on aircraft as it’s a bit of a love of mine, and 4 years ago walked into a position as an aircraft engineer full time, they wanted me based on knowledge not on how many bits of paper I had (I know this to be true as I have none), recently I handed in my notice and found they didn’t want to loose me and wanted to contract me back as self employed and now I’m becoming inundated with work and I earn more money than the blokes that have been through 4 years of college. My wife has done a similar thing to you she was 32 months into a 3 year OT degree and decided to leave, she took parts of the course and is now self employed earning well but with lots of free time. The degree is not always the way to go, education and knowledge is and you don’t have to go to school for that. Still like I said in the beginning the way I do things may not work for you, also my methods are not socially accepted, keep that in mind.
  19. Good Good, see you in the morning
