Just do it, Ive had mine and its all fine and dandy now My mate has his just now and hes 18, He sees no problems in them. Also some of the colours they can offer are quite Discreet(sp?) For example silver... They dont show through very well compared to say orange. And after while you tend to stop noticing them so your self confidence is not lower as you forget they are there.... They arnt that noticable really.
