  1. Not my bike here but does anyone remember the sunn trials bike? Ed tongue was riding it before the pashley was born, there is an issue of mbuk with him doing an endo on the front and looking down at the camera, great intro article on the pashley in that one, I wish I could find a copy

on the plus side, I have a sunn trials frame hanging up in my man cave

That's rather nice. Bet it's really good for old school style comp riding before it went all pogo stick. And can do streety stuff when you see fit

I'm yet to ride it! Just picked it up yesterday and it was hoofing down with rain, shame I couldn't get out today, hopefully will be able to give it a run before the weekend

    Looks quite cool man.

Inspired saddle came out of no where there. :P

Haha yeah I had it ready to go on, not sure if I prefer the selle italia, I guess the inspired seat will be a bit more hard wearing...

I literally just picked it up yesterday, Ben at trials addict sorted most of the bits for me, although the frame and seat came from tarty

if anyone was interested it's a 120 stem and low rise bars

  4. Hey folks

ive had this on and off for a year or so now, it had a little holiday with @Dan Jones for a few months but it's back where it belongs now and I'm pretty happy with how it looks.

...now this isn't your  typical inspired build, no pro 4, no spank rims, no arcade bars....no disc brakes, I'm an old git who loves Magura all round, seats on bikes and chainspotting ....

As for modern bikes go, the hex is the most similar geo I could find to older bikes but I've gone for a more trials set up rather than streety.

I have this crazy idea that maybe when my son is a bit older than 18 months and we've got the next kiddie out the way I might get out more than once a month!! Hmmmmm

see the pics and don't be mean

I guess I've tried a lot of things but just want a trials bike that looks cool and is a bit of an all rounder

    cheers

  5. This might be helpful, might not...

There was a guy selling a frame and forks on retrobike.co.uk last summer, it was a collection only but only £75 - it came with a few extras as well like cranks, stem, bars.... He had some yellow race line brakes also which he wanted £75 for

it was located in Worcester, I was going to buy it but my old crap car broke down on the way! I can try and dig out his contact details if you like, as far as I'm aware he still has it

PM me if you like mate

  6. Interesting read, I to am mid 30s now (almost) and have a wife and 15 month old son, and work 2 jobs to keep things flowing so I don't get a lot of time to get out riding, I used to ride every day back in the late 90s/early 00s and then lost interest after a few of my riding mates got cars/started riding BMX or got girlfriends/became locals down the pub....

I've dabbled in various different bikes over the past 10 years or so but never kept anything longer than about 2 months as I was always looking for that 'perfect feeling bike' (I suppose having more money now than I did all those years ago means I can experiment more) I recently bought an echo pure (2008 I think) and it did feel a bit alien compared to what I was used to back in the old days, it felt like I was riding on a tightrope, and just really unbalanced and high, I had the long high stem and set up the way everyone else does and the bike looked like it was ready to go (I think - to be honest, what it was, not the bike, it was me as a rider, I'm so out of practice with trials, have poor technique at newer style moves, generally a bit unfit and don't give it enough time each week to get better) I think what you have there in that echo is a great starting point, you just need to ride it loads to adapt to its geometry- me being so impatient and fussy have sold mine on and have an inspired hex, funnily enough, I bought this hex new about a year ago, sold it in the spring this year to get the echo, sold the echo after about 2 months and then bought my hex back off the same person! Sounds ridiculous but as I said, always searching for that 'perfect bike' when to be honest, if I just got out more I'd get better and more confident on riding what I have.

'always searching for that perfect bike'

  7. I do like a nice Pashley!

If you are at all after any of the parts mentioned above I have a few bits which could fit the bill

2 inch silver azonic pyramids, Alex dx32 32h rim in black (hardly used) and a silver middleburn pro trials guard...

PM me if you need anything, could do you a deal

This is what im after, iv been talking to the chap who once owned it but he said its now long gone.

if i start to make some trials frames then this is the style of frame im going to build with a slightly more modern twist.

That was me! ...on retro bike! Yes long gone I'm afraid

  9. I have a mint condition 180mm one which I used a handful of times, £10 posted if you want to try one out on the cheap? I think I paid £25 for it!

As Dman said, they're not as good as Shimano but Ive had worse

Reason for not using it is I broke down my bike and sold some bits off and now I'm riding with front and rear Magura - it's a retro build!
