  1. i have some maxxis hansventures. they were £16 each from tartybikes and you can select different hardness of rubber for the middle and outers of the tire, they work very well for me.
  2. all it is is the fact that the cable stretches, if you pull hard enough or over time.
  3. why would you want a back brake... your a crazy man with a death wish get maggies, they're good and reliable, but still just vee brakes and tar would do for beginners, they lock up well.
  4. the bottom bracket is the bit in between the pedals that is in the frame. it is a shell which holds an axle which the cranks bolt on to. i use 25-30 in the rear and 20-25 in the front and i weigh 10.5 stone
  5. i have an echo '07 on the front and a hog 47mm on the rear. i must say that im impressed with the hog, i have rimmed it a fair few times and has not dented or buckled, i havent had to true it since i built it up. very good. i'm also sure that the echo would be just as strong on the rear even without the eyelets, although i have had to give the echo a few tweaks from time to time. dave
  6. how did you manage that? also, you do decide to get one, i would definitely suggest getting a brake booster, theres quite a bit of flex when it comes to the rear magura. but my tensile sorted that out.
  7. wait a minute, so using dot oil knackers the seals and stuff??? so what does the brake come with then? i assumed it would just be the normal dot 4 or 5.1 (maybe 4.1 or 5, i can't remember)
  8. thanks for the replies people
  9. nah, i wont put the suspension forks back on, its so much easier to use with the rigid forks, also, they're air forks cutting down spring does not comply.
  10. did this just randomly happen when you were riding, or did you notice anything previously, it seems quite scary so i would like to know what to look out for.
  11. the woodstock is great in my opinion, i own one and i am very happy with it, its super light, stiffer than i thought it would be, easy to use and if your considering ebay its great value for money look here at bottom of page thats mine, it cost around 800 in total to build (paid 80 for the frame off of ebay, a steal in my opinion) Dave
  12. cool little video you've got there, and again, very meaty side hops... ME LIKEY VERY MUCH!!1
  13. i agree with trix, thats not to say that i wouldn't accept things for free, i love getting things for free, but when you buy something it carries more value to yourself.
  14. they should have done it with a D lock, you can use those little hydraulic jacks to break those.
  15. update on my bike it now has echo control forks and i love it!!! it is now the bike that i was imagining when i was building it, completely worth the money i spent on it (in my opinion) please comment
  16. lol we made him look like a tit no he did that himself
  17. wow! that guy with the super sexy onza woodstock looks so cool, i wish i could be just like him!!!
  18. well i have 8 speed on my woodstock which i built up EDIT: sorry, i use 8 speed because its that bit more practical when riding to local spots
  19. Hi, i have been looking into hubs a bit more recently, specifically the higher engagement ones (i.e the hope pro 2 trial), the only problem is that they are all 6 speed (apart from the chris king which is way too expensive) or so far that i have seen. does anyone know of any high engagement (30 or up) that are 8/9 speed compatible? thanks, Dave
  20. we need to get helmets actually (me, trix and adamc24 ride together in case you didn't know, we're n00bs), i should probably be in the next video as well with my woodstock
  21. you could most probably get some from wickes or something similar, i don't know how much they cost. oh and by the way, they're called pallets not crates
  22. i rarely bother watching the videos on here but i can say i'm glad i watched this one, the riding was really smooth. nice one, keep 'em coming Dave
  23. if you buy a new bottom bracket, the drive side should be longer than the non drive side to make up for the chainring.
  24. thanks, it means a lot to me, i wish i could ride it better :$ also, i built the wheels up myself, didn't get them right first time but oh well ( a friend pointed me in the right direction), and i am surprised that they are still true
  25. here is my finished (kind of) woodstock, it cost me about £800 in total there it is, i have ordered some echo control forks for it, they should be here here on Tuesday thanks to tartybikes. Dave
