i doubt it's your bike which is causing your punctures. maybe your riding styles not smooth enough for the moves you are trying to do, work on your technique the more you do, the smoother you become.

as it's his first bike, i recommend buying 2nd hand the bikes generally take alot of beating whilst learning, it will also be cheaper and if the bike has been well looked after then it will require very little parts maintenance for a while... have a look on the for sale section on this site or ebay. my msn is nickems@hotmail.co.uk if you want some more help
