  1. Yeah and considering the fact that the thread already had 1113 posts in it, and its been going a fair while, it's a bit pointless closing it now?
  2. Face plant just a bit!? Must of hurt a fair bit And on your facebook it says its you riding? EDIT: My bad, i read it wrong
  3. Added you Waitin to see the vid now haha
  4. And to be honest Winnie, since you've had previous experience with disk brakes, and you can maintain them as well, you should go for a rear disk, because at the end of the day, it will be a great rear brake and it's what you like and not what anybody else on the forum likes.
  5. Hahaaa your a comedian, it's not necessarily the bleed that'll make it feel shit, it's the set up of them, and hope don't do that, the owner does that.
  6. Yeah, and most of them people wont have had a double disk bike, or felt one which is set up perfect, you all just jump on a bandwagon thinking disks are shit! Yeah that's probably true, as MOST of the Inverness riders are MAGGY TILL I DIE BOIZZ, and yes I did used to ride with them all, so i do know that for a fact Mate, I seriously think you've only felt disks that have been set up/bled by retards.... I've felt plenty of disks which have been sharp as fook and felt lovely, so either, your just saying you've never felt any nice ones, orrr refer back to the first part of the sentence. Ha I know your not, cause if you were, i'd be having one right back
  7. They clearly do work as good than maggys or no one would use them.... Yes, your mate is obviously shi*e at setting them up. Wet weather pads and a grind may make it work just as good, but your still grinding your rim, which leads to a new rim a few more grinds down the line..... Well that's very nice, but I was taking the piss when I said that bit. Yes, disks are expensive, I did mention that, and I also mentioned second hand is a cheaper option, so no point in trying to prove me wrong on that bit. If you have a GOOD wheel build, your wheel shouldn't flex that much at all from it, and anyway, if you buckle your rim with a maggy your fuc*ed if you don't have a spoke key cause it'll rub and annoy the tits off you. Yeah, that's because you don't need to bleed them with water, there sharp enough with oil in, and if you have a good bleed they feel great at the leaver. So this mate of yours cant set up a disk and has contaminated his pads and disk in 2 weeks? He blatantly doesn't know what he's doing, especially since he's only just turned double disk. Disks aren't hard to bleed at all, you open the bleed nipple, take the reservoir cap off, pump old oil out and pour new oil in till no air bubbles are coming out the bleed nipple, WOW THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE. And with every disk I've had, its been both sharp and modulated, so it can do all your tgs stuff, natty stuff, and street stuff like manuals etc. And that's not me even thinking that hard. Just off the top of my head.
  8. Certainly would! As long as you don't get oil on the pads or disk, there great! Yeah the Hope Mono Trial is a perfect disk for the back! Pretty pricey though so it would be worth your while looking in FS topics etc. Disks also mean: You don't have to grind your rim, so your rim last much longer and you get to keep the coloured side walls so it looks good You only need to set them up once and if all bolts are tight it shouldn't move at all, so you don't need to re adjust it when you take your wheel on and off, and it can also make it easier to take your wheel on and off. You can ride in the rain, as rain doesn't affect disks anywhere near as much as it does with a maggy. And you wont have a loud brake that'll annoy the neighbours
  9. To be honest, if you've never really owned a bike with a rear disk you can't say there shit, and I bet you couldn't even list ten reasons.......... Only two things I can think off which is bad about them for trials, is you can bend a rotor, and some frames can crack 'cause of them.
  10. They are not shit................ have you ever owned a bike with a rear disk set up?
  11. Right, the boys heard from everyone it's a bad idea, people should stop jumping on the bandwagon and let him do it, he'll learn from his mistakes..........
  12. So you just need a post to post adapter? Go on to chainreaction etc and look for a hays front post to post adapter for a 6" rotor?
  13. A pro 2 is a freehub, freehub and freewheels are different things. Freehubs are more associated with stocks due to the frame spacing (135mm) compared to a mods (116mm) frame spacing, so there are a wider choice of free hub for stocks. A free hub basically has the freewheel built into the hub, that's the easiest way to describe it. FFW set ups are generally cheaper, as you can get a good freewheel for £40-£50, where as a pro 2 is £130, or if you can afford it a Chris king hub is £300. FFW is standard on all good bikes because rear freewheels are sh*t, and most full builds you buy wont come with a rear freehub, unless you pay extra. EDIT: Sorry if you already knew all that, just sounded like you were a bit confused between ffw and a freehub by your post
  14. Watch this, it's hilarious! Yeah I found that ^ video funnier haha! But in the 100 greatest, how the fell did that guy flip off the exercise ball thing!?
  15. Your so much better from when I last saw you! Improved loads! Your editing was also spot on. Nice one. See you Saturday! xxxx Yeah for Danny.
  16. Rest In Peace Danny boy x Can't believe im never going to get to ride with you again, or have the laughs and jokes we used to, or simply chill out together You were such a character, you will never be forgotten! Miss you lots bud, take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  17. Yeah no wonder, haven't been out with the trials lads in a fair while! Yeah tartybikes Pro2
  18. This is my type of thread haha. My dmrrr.
  19. QFT. Was a good video, riding was mint, the whole advert thing didn't work too well, but still a good video, and the colour scheme on his bike looks......different.
  20. Right, I think mtb(24") are perfectly capable of riding bmx trails, and I don't think purely because of the steepness there should be a problem. But I'm giving up in this "debate" because I'm never going to win! so you bmx lot win
  21. Uk bmx trails, are nothing compared to American/Australian etc. ones. But im talking about in general, not just uk trails And no, you said the people who couldn't pump it weren't big names........? I REALLY cant see how just cause it was on mtb, meant they couldn't pump it. and yes, i agree bmx trails are harder, due to having to know how to pump correctly etc, but just cause mtb'ers dont build bmx trails, doesnt mean they don't travel to ride other peoples trails? I know bmx is a lot better for park and ramp and street and that and i completely understand why, but i just cant see how 24" dirt specific bikes would struggle on trails, even if they are harder and steeper, because not all 24"ers have suspension, a lot are rigid, so there just as smooth as a bmx if there ridden correctly? I need some mtbers to back me up, cause at the moment, im getting beasted hahaha!
  22. Jesus thats a huge reply! I don't see why they'd say they were shit? because if you watch videos of all the different teams (dmr etc) I'm pretty sure there are trails that they ride that are bmx trails? And if they couldn't pump the roller before the last jump, that's nothing really to do with them being on mtb's, more to do with, they can't pump properly? Mtb'ers build mtb jumps because i'm assuming the majority of people who are going to ride them will be mtb'ers who prefer mtb jumps, and there's no point building bmx trails when its only going to be you who will enjoy riding them? The trails where i live, we've built trails (that are yes in a straight line, which is so boring and i hate it, but its only because we don't have that much room) that the first four jumps, are more mtb orientated, but after the fourth they get into big steep jumps with steep landings and bomb holes, so it's a compromise to satisfy all riders. Personally i prefer the bmx orientated jumps because you get much more height, and they are generally more fun. Yeah I can quite believe that, it's exactly why I ride bmx for park Still ride my mtb for half pipes though, just for a bit of crack! But a lot of people still ride 24" for park, got a dmr poster of my wall of the dmr team riding park, so it is possible. No no no, I only used grinds and that as an example, I do realise bmx is further ahead in all areas of tricking. As bmx's are smaller so there easier to chuck around and such in the air and on the ground.
  23. Yeah I know that, but that doesn't mean someone couldn't do them on a 24"? Anyone who can ride trails to a decent standard, should be able to judge there speed well and adjust things in mid air for steeper landings. If you compare a bmx'er to a mtb'er that only rides trails with mellow landings then yeah the bmx'er will have more control because generally if you can ride trials with steep landings you can ride trails with mellow landings. But if you compare a bmx'er to a mtb'er that rides a mix of trails from big steep ones, to long mellow ones, there bike control would be the same, as they'd be riding the same sort of things surly?
  24. Yeah which is true enough, but if you start on a mtb then try bmx, many people won't have the confidence to go big on there bmx, incase things go wrong. So they learn to ride just as smooth on a mtb. So saying people on mtbs have less "rider skill" than bmx riders, is a load of rubbish. But in the trick department, yes bmx is always one step ahead of mtb, because you can do more of a variety of tricks e.g. grinds, feebles and such like. And im not understanding this bmx trail stuff, yeah when you watch videos of bmxers riding trails the jumps are big and steep, but any semi decent mtb'er would be capable or riding the same trails. Personally I think bmx trails look so much fun since there fast a flowy, and have lines everywhere, and i would love to ride them on my 24". But it sounds to me like your trying to say mtb'ers can't ride bmx trails cause they arnt skilled or smooth enough. Which i don't agree with. Sorry if i've got the wrong end of the stick haha.
  25. It's nothing to do with the jumps i don't think, and all the trails that are do able on bmx, are just as doable on mtbs, and plenty of people do, do them on mtbs. i've ridden bmx on jumps for ages, i ride them in parks all the time and i can jump them fine, they just feel odd in the air. They feel to small to be able to trick of anything, but that's just my own opinion. And this lack of bike control shit, is a load of shit. Your telling me that every bmxer has amazing bike control and don't ever fall, or over shoot a jump or just land badly? I said mtbs are more forgiving IF you do make a mistake, which is true.
