  1. Amazing job, love the brake mounts!
  2. Amazing riding! Can we have more details on the bike? Looks proper bo i tell thee.
  3. Half link chains result in death. Avoid. (They stretch loads and snap relatively easily...)
  4. Awesome, that Inspired with the massive wheels looks amazing!

    Chain Skipping

Put a smaller, non-raped-by-half-link sprocket on and all seems well. Guess I should've tried that before splashing out on a new tensioner... Thanks for your help guys!

    Chain Skipping

I've been running a half-link chain for a while, but recently swapped it for a new normal one to avoid a painful faceplant. My chain keeps skipping when I put a bit of a load on it. Changed the tensioner for a double wheel type so chain wrap isn't a problem, also the chainline is spot on. I'm running a Hope Pro II hub but that seems fine, pretty sure it isn't the freehub slipping. Anyone else had skipping issues? I'm thinking it could be wear on the sprockets. Any tips would be much appreciated!
  7. Pretty sure there he's on his now brakeless Megamo Comp II.
  8. Mate of mine runs a Monty, seems pretty solid. Can't remember the last time it jumped.

  11. I had a water bled maggie which started leaking at the lever. Gone back to blood, and while the lever did feel nicer across its full stroke with water, I tend to hold the lever 'just off lock' anyway, so don't really notice the improvement when actually riding.

    Shoes?

I tried a pair of the 5ten ba5ics, the rubber is insane, they even pick up crap from the carpet. I imagine they'd work best on platform pedals though for the contact area. I stand on caged pedals with waffle Vans, perfect combo.

    Shoes?

Any Vans that take your fancy with the waffle sole, grippy and bombproof. Some can be had for under £30 too.
  14. Huddersfield - TrialsKings country! Although I went to uni there and didn't spot much apart from the phonebox to wall gap outside KFC, as featured on an old MBUK poster...
  15. Almost as bad as reading topics and hitting reply, only to find you're still a pre-member 3 years after joining! The other 'please validate me' topics were locked, so I thought I'd moan about it here...
  16. Doesn't it let you ride backwards without needing to pedal?
  17. I think you'd only have a non-machined sidewall on cheaper rims. Having them machined ensures a flat, smooth surface so improves brake performance.
  18. I think you're describing a 'machined' sidewall, where there are concentric ridges running the whole way around the sidewall? 521s had a similar kinda thing, though it was barely noticable. Not sure it has much to do with braking, probably just a result of the finishing on the rim.
  19. Yeah...kinda got that figured. But if you ran pads for smooth rims, would they be better on paint or metal?
  20. Which offers better braking performance; a smooth non-painted rim or a painted rim (also smooth)? I've grinded a painted one down because the brake was a bit crap, but it's now hideously loud. I've also stuck some new pads on my old bike (smooth, non painted rim) which is now stopping brilliantly and silently. Just wondering if I should have left the rim with the paint on...
  21. Anything solventy that evaporates and doesn't leave a greasy residue. I find spray paint just the ticket. Also try the site search function...
  22. What are the advantages of a 4 bolt booster over a 2 bolt? My Inspired frame seems to flex quite a bit when I grab a handfull, bit worried about the stress the brake mounts are put under when that happens.
  23. I recently moved the freewheel on my stock from the back wheel to the cranks; can't say I noticed any difference ride wise. The chain will wear faster though because it's constantly in motion, but that's just being anal...
