  1. Good post about the cleaning J-rod, that Iron-X still looks fantastic, can see the brake dust bleeding off pierres wheels. Two very smart motors there
  2. I thought so too, it's not even relevant really, but it just came to me and had to be used there and then!
  3. point still missed. the ko3S is gay. it's like teaching a retard to wipe his own arse, it's impressive and nobody thought it was possible, but he's still a retard at the end of it....
  4. No, he isn't right, he's totally missed the f**king point as usual. statement: ''This square is black'' The topic here is colour, not shape, and in typical fashion, he's gone off on the wrong tangent.
  5. This square is black: Lets see you argue that one f**ker!
  6. I'd be careful what you say if I were you chap, the internet is still a public place!
  7. OK, so maybe it's down to personal preference, but the type of driving enjoyment I describe is the generally accepted view, if it wern't, most petrol heads would infact be driving soot chuckers, because you can have all the torque in the world over a useless power band. but still, this is a subject in which I have much experience, and you have none, so lets just agree that I'm right as far as the masses are concerned, and you're wierd.
  8. from a driving point of view, a 280bhp ko4'd leon absolutely obliterates a 240bhp lighter a3 I'm afraid jardo, but you just don't seem to understand. the a3 is a big bang and it's all over, no revs to play with, and when you do let it rev out it's slow as. it's not an enjoyable or involving drive like something with a decent pull right to the top end. Having had years with a st2 ko3S making very good figures, and now going to a conservative ko4 hybrid that's making lower figures than a normal ko4 can, it's worlds apart. Going in a st2 LCR making 280-285bhp it's just in a different league to the ko3S. Sure, side by side up to 80/90mph there probably wouldn't be a huge difference, but in terms of driving pleasure, and certainly at higher speeds, the ko4 walks all over it.
  9. And that's why they need better turbos! it's the main reason for my change, I wanted something that could pull through the revs, rather than peaking at 4500rpm and dying on it's arse. here's mine from back in the day: HP being a product of torque and revs, peaks so low down because the turbo gives all it can at the bottom end, creating huge torque and thus BHP for the revs, then completely runs out of puff. Conversely, peak torque on my new setup is at 5800rpm and it pulls like a fecking train at the top end
  10. Video looks awesome Alex, I love your M3 so much, it makes me sad haha. Something like that event would NEVER happen in the UK though, just the safety side of it, in and out of fences and the like with nothing more than barrier tape? Looks epic, but england would never allow it sadly Mine's all run in now, did a little pull last night on actuator pressure (15 psi) Still LOTS more to come
  11. here's a scary thought, I had already known Lou for a year before Jardo was even born
  12. Sam, don't be a c*nt all your life it's a nice car, it's shiney and red, and cute. she's a girl, of course she's excited.
  13. people have done it before using the standard me3.8 ECU, you can have the ECU de-immobilised. I've seen 20vt conversions in mk2 golfs before where they run the standard golf clocks, and have a set of A3 clocks hooked up to the A3 engine loom hidden under the dash!
  14. 249 is bloody going! Looks cool Jardo - the AEM progressive kit is only £290 shipped, so really not that bad. I prefer the idea of a progressive controller every time. With a boost switch, it's either coming on early and flooding the engine a tad causing a hesitation, or it's coming in too late and temps have already started to rise so it has more work to do. Inject low at low boost, and high at high boost. It makes engineering sense
  15. I'll dig it out of the pile of scrap for you!
  16. Civic looks pretty quick, how much power has it got? I seem to recall you saying 240ish bhp? Amazing how you don't appear to have any traction issues in 1st! Trackday looked greesy ads, the little salon wagon goes well Still want Alex's M3 too, but I'll plod on with the A3! So, a long period of not much to report here, I've been waiting for 3 weeks on a clutch plate from the states, but that's finally arrived, so I've been able to crack on Turbo bolted on with actuator spaced by Dan to get it working squarely: Oil and water lines back on: Clutch plates, new vs old: Old plate after 4k miles: New ceramic plate: Clearly the old hadn't worn much at all! Cleaned up the flywheel, Don't even remember seeing this engraving when JP sent it to me: Clutch plate in with make shift centering tool: And the Exedy cover on and bolted up: Day 1 complete, I did everything I planned to today, so I think I deserve a beer Before putting the engine back in, I removed the offending driveshaft that has been the entire reason behind this build, you can see how the flange has torn as it's done it's damage: Brand new OEM shaft to go on there tomorrow. I decided I couldn't bugger around forever, so it was time to start moving things. I got the engine up nearer the car, and ready to fit the gearbox: New release bearing to go: I've got so many of these lying around, all of which have done less than 5k miles, but for the sake of £8 it's got to be changed. Box bolted up: And she's all ready to go home to the engine bay! I put towels down and walked it into the engine bay on the ground as far as I could until the Diff hit the subframe: Almost there! And it's IN!!!! Finally, in the engine bay, on it's mounts, things are looking up I went to look for the clutch slave to refit that, and could only find 2 old ones. Not knowing if they would leak or not, and with such an expensive clutch plate in there, I decided not to risk it, so went back to GSF and bought a new slave cylinder. Then on the way home, Jardo's Dad rang me up and asked if I wanted my slave cylinder back any time soon. D'OH! I'd forgotten it was on the old box when I took it to him. Oh well, can never be too safe With the new slave fitted, I refitted the gear cable bracket and set up the gear linkage with the TT short shifter. I noticed one of the rod ends is slightly bent, but it doesn't seem to be effecting the shift action at all, which feels perfect straight away I've connected up all the wires I can so far, coilpacks, power steering, knock sensors, crank sensor etc etc.... This is how I left it this evening: Tomorrow I'll connect the shafts and dog bone mount, then the rest and hopefully fire it up!
  17. Love the wheels Dan, are they 9j? seem to have much more dish than most!
  18. Same, still not dragged mini out for an MOT this year (my god it's almost october), and too much crap to do around home to go off to Combe today. Going Sans mini would only make me miserable anyway
  19. I was drifting when I was 11, racing grass track bangers, I even came 3rd in the 'cornish championships' (which wasn't in cornwall!) driving Jardo's girlfriends 2.0L capri! Don't think I could do it now though You know the rules Si, never build what you can buy already..... ....oh hang on a minute
  20. Only 3 ads? did the orange one go?
  21. Sweet jesus Adam, that's just unholy how quick that thing is!
  22. This. and whatsapp. So long as it's all sorted now....
  23. i do seriously hope you're joking jardo, because if you're not, and Lou hasn't approved this, I fear you'll be packing your bags in no time. She told me yesterday that she hadn't decided on anything yet, hadn't agreed to you having the A3, and wasn't 100% on the 500 either, so if you've paid the deposit for a car she is unsure on, and fraudulently signed and sent off HER log book, then you've wasted the deposit and stolen the A3 in legal terms. I hope for your sake it's just more internet exagerating on your port. If not you could be in a lot of trouble. You can't force people into decisions. Doesn't look even close to Fifty6 to me, not even slightly. it says Fig FTY, which strangely I read as fig fitty.
  24. No you don't You sound much more keen on this 500 than she does mate. She says she will cry to let the audi go and doesn't want to be without it....
