  1. Lovely civic! I'm sure I've made it clear in the past, I'm not generally a fan, because most have a bean tin exhaust and not much else, and are slow, but that sounds lovely! Friend of mine had one with a 4-2-1, catback, and K-pro which made 229bhp, I'm guessing your extra 20bhp comes from the cams, TB, and inlet? Sounds impressive. LSD and a decent geo setup was the best thing he ever did on that car, transformed it totally!
  2. it's nothing to do with Belly / chest in that sense, it's because of the cage and winged seats that access is tight, the actual gap between wheel and seat wing is very small, so the wheel needs to be totally removed to aid access. In a car without a cage, and tight legroom around the knees (like me in an MX5) I can see that fold up boss being handy, although I think I'd still have a good quality quick release, as it adds a bit of security too
  3. That's my current issue, with the new seats, the access gap has closed up a fair bit, and whilst I can jump in and out OK, I think my dad will struggle, so a removable boss is needed. The decent removable bosses throw the wheel back by about 60mm, which on my 3'' dished wheel would be stupid! So I've gone for a new flat wheel, and a quick release boss, so itll end up 16mm further away, which I can adjust out to me preference on the column.
  4. that looks fooking tiny bucky! Is that 300mm?
  5. You're not allowed to mention it Adam Even though I'm not at all angry at Jardo, for some odd reason it upsets him. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  6. Listen Cuntychops, it's a fake. It's not up for discussion, you didn't buy it. Lou did. We've been through it, and it was £80 on ebay from Poland, about half what a genuine one would cost. I believed at the time it was real, having not seen a genuine OMP one up close. I've now seen a genuine OMP one, and it's totally different. The texture on the alloy, and the size of the stitching is totally different. it is not a genuine OMP wheel. You'll notice I didn't name you in the above post for a reason, I'm not angry with you for selling me a fake wheel at all, you wern't to know, it was a present to you, and Lou wasn't to know either, she thought it was genuine. She got mugged, and the bad fortune is passed down. I'm not angry, I didn't know any better myself at the time. It's a lesson. Just move on from it.
  7. mini update: I came home on THursday between shifts to make a start on the car, which was looking very sorry for itself on the driveway: First off I dropped the bent subframe out: Used the impact gun and loads of extensions to get the driveshaft out, made life SO easy! New subframe stripped down ready to be built up: 034 Solid bushes moved across: R32 / late S3 wishbone on the left, Early S3/TT 30mm wishbone on the right: Close up to show the size of bushes: Have R32 wishbones on there currently, and I'll be building up the 30mm ones with super pro bushes in time It's really odd having no subframe on the car, the engine and brakes and stuff just kind of hang there over nothing. Most odd. My calipers REALLY need a refurb I know, I need to look into brake cooling soon, as my brakes are getting so hot it's discolouring the calipers I lifted the subframe into place, and all the bolts went in perfetly. This really made my day, as that was my last worry, offering a new subframe up and finding the chassis wasn't straight any more to accept the new frame. With the new frame on and everything bolted up, I test fitted the blue bumper I got from Reesy: Everything fitted just fine and lined up, so that's more good news. Back to work for 2 shifts, then home again Friday morning I whipped off the two S3 wheels it was still wearing, to refit the road wheels. Sadly, one of my rear A048's has scrubbed really badly on the trip home, and also overheated like crazy from the rear geo being so far out! Never seen a tyre get this hot before! So, with the tyres swapped over, I set about transfering my lower valance onto Reesys bumper, he did give me a lower valance with it, but there is so much cut out of mine for the FMIC I thought it best to re-use it. Amazingly it survived despite the bumper being smashed to bits. Before I could go and get the tracking done, I needed to get a seat in the car to drive it. I test fitted the new Sebring GT in the car, and my god it's wide! physically it's a much bigger seat than the ones that came out, but it does fit, just! I found that with the ultra low 'pro spec' side mounts Cobra had given us, the seat was too upright on my seat rails. I left it like it was to go for tracking, but it needed sorting. All back together, ready to go off for tracking: On the ramps at Pro Tyre, and everything was spot on. Had the tracking set to 2mm toe out, and the rest checked. Thankfully, the rear alignment checked out nicely, with everything well inside factory specs. Happy days! With the tracking done, I took it for a drive. Feels so nice to be back out in it again, it's driving absolutely perfectly, and everything feels spot on. I couldn't be happier knowing that it's all OK she lives to fight another day! (or barrier?) Looking a bit bruised, but it's back! Started today by looking at my steering wheel closely, I'd noticed that it had a bend on each spoke that I didn't remember before. On inspection, the wheel has bent on all 3 spokes, right through the middle of the biggest hole. Comparing it to my old wheel it's pulled back from the boss by about 10mm, and when you handle it, the top half of the rim has gone REALLY flexy, as if it's fractured inside. Not cool! I was sold this as a genuine wheel, and it was bought by the previous owner as gen, but clearly it's a fake! I checked with Mark at Cobra about modifying the seat side mounts, and he said it wouldn't be a problem to drill another hole in the sidemounts to alter the angle of the seats, so I set about stripping the seats down to get access to the bolt holes, to put a drill bit through and mark the side mounts for a new hole. New hole done, seat angle much better now, and also the extra rake has made it MUCH easier to get into the car also Visibility isn't as good obviously, but these feel SO safe, and are ultra comfy, holding me better than any seat I've ever tried before. very happy with them all in. This evening Dad ordered a 14'' panoramic rear view mirror to help see what's around us, and tomorrow I'm ordering an Apex quick release steering boss and a flat wheel of some sort. Roll on Goodwood next weekend
  8. Miss matching seats REALLY bother me! Obviously it's fine in someone elses car, it's all personal choice, but in my own car, it's an absolute no go, I hate it. Mind you, in my daily drive, I will ALWAYS position the passengers seat so it's exactly the same as the drivers seat in height, fore/aft, and rake. I'm just odd like that. As for the padding, I'd say it is a massive Deal alex. Imagine being smacked around the head with a scaffhold pole whilst wearing your helmet, that's about the same kind of impact as the momentum of your heavy head and helmet getting thrown sideways in an accident, particularly an issue on your cage due to the additional bracing. It is a bloody lovely cage though! Those photoshoot pictures look amazing, can't wait to see the rest!
  9. Amazing picture Alex, shame the seats arn't matching though
  10. When did you add the front lip Robin? Also, Aug BH, you in?
  11. But I like moaning I've been at work now for 11 days straight without a break on 12 hour split shifts. moaning is all I have left! (and beer ) My M3 didn't have any shims under the spoiller, and it was rusting through from the bolt holes outwards like they all do
  12. Tic's gudgeon pins are 19mm. It was never about a pin size either, I couldn't give a flying f**k. it was about being called out by a youth with an over-active google gland vs genuine 1st hand knowledge.
  13. Stop trying to so hard prove people wrong mate, you're using snippets of second hand information from various sources and trying to string them together to come up with a conclusion that is entirely made up. The LCR came with the AMK and BAM engines, both of which had 20mm pins. The APY you speak about came in the early 8L S3's, and also had 20mm pins. APY, AMK, and BAM engines all had a CR of 9:1, compared to 9.5:1 on the AGU, AUM, and AUQ and other ko3 engines. If you spent 5 minutes thinking about the subject, and not of ways to show people up, you'd realise that a compression test shows you absolutely nothing about the compression ratio of an engine, so well done on validating your almighty bank of knowledge there. Everybody raves about the BAM engine for some utterly stupid reasons, when infact it's no different to the others. You might have failled to notice, but over the last few weeks I've stuck up for you and suggested people stop having a go quite so often, but if you're going to be a cock and try (miserably) to make out that I'm wrong as well, then what's the point?
  14. Jardo you silly little f**k tart, don't try and outsmart spunky about his own car. All LCR's had 20mm pins, AMK and BAM engines only. wheel bearings are all the same, and the rest nobody gives a flying f**k about.
  15. yes. You've not driven your mini yet without one have you?> Good luck!
  16. Mine's with HIC Danny, they don't do a multi car, but if you're a good customer with them, they'll mirror your NCB from your main car onto your second car. However, without wanting to sound rude, you've already f**ked it by going to Flux they're a sister company, and HIC probably won't quote you now. If they know you've had a flux quote they will refuse to quote at all. Try it, claiming you havn't, but they might flag it up from your name and refuse still.
  17. the seats and harnesses still annoy me..... I wonder what else they've bodged or badged.
  18. s I just don't get it, I LOVE the car, the concept, I think it's epic, but the seats? Why would you build a no limits car like that, then fit £120 steel framed shit seats, that have been badly retrimmed and given the wrong logo? my only assumption is, that it's owned by a fat b*****d who can't fit in a proper seat at all, hence the fatboy seats, and he doesn't want people to realise. That might also explain the very low single door bar on an otherwise mental car. OK, more ranting. the harnesses as well? What the fu<k? When you crashed that thing (and you would!), those harnesses mounted to the floor like that are ready to kill you, if the unforgiving steel frame seat hasn't already! ARGHHHHHHHHH Built by Morons.
  19. is this your way of coming out? Dark Knight? Gone in 60s, Rings? All sounds a bit queer to me!
  20. Better brakes Bigger turbo Far better suspension geo (wishbones, camber, caster, quick rack etc) Looks SuperBadAss. All reasons why your LCR was always going to be 10x the car on track that your A3 was. Also the reason why under the 3 door audi shell, all my running gear comes from an LCR out of the box, they're the best hot hatch VAG ever made, by a long shot. Really glad you enjoyed it dude! I'll be looking to do Snett as one of my next TD's, current list of wants are Brands, Snett, and Oulton Park.
  21. Whilst I know it's fun to pick on Jardo, you guys need to give him a break here. there are PLENTY of situations where you can go into the back of someone and not be at fault, I've seen it happen many times. Say you're following someone on the motorway at a sensible distance, and some cock forces his way inbetween you and the car in front when really it's too tight, then suddenly the car you WERE following does an emergancy stop. the moron who's just squeezed in hammers on the anchors, and before you've had time to pull back to retain a sensible distance, it's all too late, and you hit him. That would be 100% his fault, not yours, even though you went into the back of him. A chap at work had his daughter involved in a similar accident, minding her own business, and some cock joining the motorway came down the sliproad and tried to cut straight across all 3 lanes to the fast lane, he tried to pull out into a gap in front of her that didn't exist, and cut it so close he actually hit his rear bumper as he came across the front of her car. Insurance only saw front wing / bumper damage to her car, and rear bumper damage to his, and settled in his favour, saying she was at fault. 2 perfectly legit situations where making contact with the back of someones car are non fault. Then of course there are the crooks jardo mentioned, the kind that disconnect brake lights then jam on the anchors to trap you, and those that disconnect reversing lights and back into you at the traffic lights and say you hit them. All arseholes.
  22. if you don't fit fogs, at least remove the blanking plates dude, they just scream ''Better specced models have something here!'' to me Remove the blanking plates, and suddenly you have 'brake cooling ducts', BecauseRaceCar.
  23. yup, generally, here in gay old England, even if you have a non fault claim on your record, you're classes as being a higher risk, and the premium is adjusted accordingly. So if jonny randomer drives into your parked car, you exchange details, and his insurance co fix it, youre premium will STILL go up, through no fault of your own. It shouldn't work like that, but the truth is it does.
  24. You went through insurance rather than pay £120? man, that's a strange decision! If I were in that situation here, and the 'victim' gave me the choice of insurance of cash payment, up to about a £1k I'd pay it in cash without even thinking twice. Your insurance record is so important these days, and even one small claim will have you paying a raised premium for the next 4-5 years! That £70 now on each policy, will still be £50 on top of next years, and £30 on top of the year after that etc etc, because now you've had a bump, you're a higher risk. The BMW bump will also put your premium up further I'd imagine I've always viewed insurance as an absolute last resort if you absolutely cannot afford to sort things out otherwise.
  25. yea, car feels like it's got fuel starvation / run out of fuel, you need two hands on the filler cap, pull like feck, then a massive WOOOOOOOSSSSSHHHHH and it pops off. I'd hate to imagine the load you're putting the fuel pump and associated components under when that happens.# It happened to me on the Mini, but the cause was actually the one way valve freezing up! I used a motorcycle one way valve on the breather line, and the fuel was leaving the tank at such a rate (compared to a bike) that the alloy check valve actually froze solid and had ice all over it on a summers day! Removed the check valve to let it VTA, and all was well ever since.
