Bitches, we are close.......... Very close infact, and the weather is getting better! it's now forecast to be clear on Friday with just a chance of rain on saturday, so things are looking up! Edit: Cool! because the webcam image is uploaded as a Jpg and replaced once a minute, the pic above will auto refresh every minute, so you can watch it all day Nice DC2 in the que currently....

cars and people that I can think of, genuinely sorry if I forget any of you guys! TF members listed first, driver name first then pax. I've used the name pax where I don't know who it is, just to make it easy for us to count numbers George - DJB A3 turbo Prawn - SteveS - Frenchman A3 turbo Broomer - pax Mini/pug Gaz -SamD -pax - pax Bora Andy P - Chris - Rob? Clio (hahaha) James hayes - Custard S3 Chris Hayes -pax? mk4 Golf Dan Angel - Steve - Chris A3 turbo Rob Stevens - Alex Leon Cupra Dan Ceallar - pax - pax -pax Leon Cupra R Hayden Scrivenv(?) - missus MK2 GTI That's all I can think of for now, no doubt I've forgotten a few people, but remembering 27 names isn't all that easy

Forgive me if this sounds utterly cuntish, but there's a bit of a vast difference between something like my Mini, (a car built for track use from the ground up with hundreds of seriously extensive and unique modifications) and a rocco with a valver dropped in and some sticky tyres.... Same again with alex's beamer. investing serious money involves serious thought and planning. I'm not knocking Al, his projects seem like great fun, but the happy go lucky attitude towards it all doesn't seem to me like something that's going to turn into a show winner, or a track day warrior for that matter. It more appears to be a young chap wanting the fastest motor possible for the least money, which is no bad thing in itself. I'm not saying don't paint it by any means, I'm just saying it'd be stupid to spend £2000 on a paint job on an otherwise fairly standard car. And as you asked, the Mini has cost me almost £18 000 so far, and I don't regret a single penny!
-
Allan, man the f**k up and do it yourself boyo. Anything can be done with enough time and patience. if I were you, working on a budget, I'd be spending a load of time on prep, then spraying the car satin black with rattle cans. Satin will hide small imperfections in the filler work, and the whole lot will cost you under £50, just a few days hard work. Definately DO NOT go spending £2000 on paintwork on a car that's worth so little. that's a mad idea.

Broomer perhaps.......... on his Mini Are they cracking down on that this year then Chris? I was told last year before I went that they wern't allowing cars with extruding pins on, and that some were allowed on if they were covered with tape, but nobody was stopped when I was there in the mini, with LOADS of the mini's having bonnet pins....

Lads, the snow has cleared!!!!!!!!!! My linkhttp://www.nuerburgring.de/fileadmin/webcam/webcam.jpg Going to be such a wicked trip! I've got SO much to do though before we go this saturday, I'm planning on fitting my front coilovers, doing an oil/filter change, refitting my airbox and panel filter with 80mm feed, removing and remounting my front bumper/lower valance, and installing my new gizzmo electronic boost controller. busy busy busy
-
because it's been proven that with a few mods it'll flow 10x better than any nasty chavy induction kit bollocks. Mine's been smoothed out inside totally on both sides, as well as a green cotton panel filter, and the inlet hole being opened out to accept an 80mm feed in from inside the front bumper. I'll take VAGCOM logs before and after as a comparison
-
I also have all the above, and even have 230bhp to push it all along with, but still NO BLOODY CUP HOLDERS!!!!! What is the world comming to? FItted the rear coilies today, slammed as low as they'll go Fronts going on next weekend, along with an oil change, and refitting the air box with green filter and an 80mm feed.
-
Chaps, If I did it in the mini, then NONE of you have anything to complain about, Compared to the mini spunkey, your coilies in the audi will feel like limo comfort, and I'm fairly certain neither the A3 or the RA are anywhere near as loud as the Mini is inside, and we coped, so you'll be just fine! Andy, surely by the time you've found a place to stay in france thursday night it'll be just as cheap and easy to come with us to dunkirk? I've still got to try and fix a potential boost leak (boost seems a bit random currently), change the oil and filter, refit my airbox with a new cold air feed, and get my coilies on, ride height set when they've settled, and have the tracking done, as well as potentially 4 new tyres the way things are looking I've got about 2.5-3mm left all round now, so i really don't think I'll manage the trip there and back, plus 8 laps on what's left. it's also worth noting, that whilst the UK legal limit for tyre tread is 1.6mm, the german officials at the ring have the right to turn away any vehicle with less than 2mm of tread remaining.
-
I'm sure that'll be fine Ticcy, always room for a small one! Not taking the mega tent this year, it's only ever pissed me off before, because as much as everyone does try and help, it's always left 90% to me and frenchie to do all the work and 4 other bastards get to sleep in it. Smaller tent = less hassle for me!
-
don't worry Liam, the 20vt crew are going to have to stop for fuel every hundred miles or so, so your soot chucker will be passing us at the pumps! getting proper excited about this now!, got LOADS of people comming, so should be wicked: Broomer -Mini his passneger (???) George -A3 turbo Tic RoboSte -Leon Cupra Alex (robs pax) Prawn - A3 turbo Sanger Frenchman Dan Angel -A3 turbo Steve (dans pax) Chris (dans pax) Dan Ceallar (met him at the ring in sept) LCR dans pax 1 dans pax 2 dans pax 3 james Hayes -S3 Custard Alex Ogden (who remembers al from the old days?) Als missus Pip (possibly) Bessel has said he might come - Evo That's 21 people! and I'm certain I've forgotten a few. Should be quite the adventure!
-
Broomer, how fast can you cruise with a trailler in tow? I won't lie, I don't fancy doing 60 the whole way through france/belgium/germini! I'm off to Custardland™ (essex) at the weekend to rip bits off custards car until mine works again. when I figure out which bit fixes it, I'll buy said part new from audi, and be happy again then I just need to fit my coilies before we go, and sell my weitecs for beer money at the ring!
-
Facebook seems to feed off history too, all my facebook ads are car related stuff, which could be related to the car stuff posted on my wall, but a mate of mine has a GSXR750, and visits a few bike forums, but has never mentioned it on FB at all, yet his FB ads are often bike related.....
-
Right chaps, It's time to act on this. Ferries are now booked for myself, George, and Mr Angel, plus passengers. As well as a mate of mine from work in a leon cupra, and a mate we met at the ring in september in an LCR. To all those interested, I've started a facebook group to confirm and discuss details, here: www.facebook.com/Easter 2010 Ring Trip
-
Ticcy, are you able to confirm or deny this viscious rumour? All plans still stand as far as I'm concerned chaps. If anyone wants to send me the ferry money so I can book us all as a group then PM me, otherwise, the details are set, and feel free to book whenever you like!
-
somewhere around 125-130kph yea, reaching around 210kph in places though, so that brings the average up
-
I'm going to stick to Friday chaps, there are already quite a few people committed to comming who won't want to be changing dates or haivng to book time off. I'm unfortunately forced to take the following week off work without choice, and that, coupled with my week at the ring in september, leaves me absolutely f**k all holday for the rest of the year! The idea behind leaving at 8am friday was that we could get a few hours in on Friday night anyway, plus the whole idea of friday - monday was to keep costs as low as humanly possible, and not need anyone to take any time off work. I'm not imagining any of us are going to do LOADS of laps, say for example you wanted to do 2 laps friday night, then another 6 on sunday, that's 145E. say we had all day friday as well and did 6 laps on both days, that's the best part of £220! That's why I'm thinking a few laps friday night, explore on saturday, check out the new ring complex, the roller coaster, and the absolutely awsome roads that surround the whole place, then a good day there on sunday.
-
Agreed! It's all about the satisfaction of putting together a good lap, trying to hit every apex, and just being as smooth as possible! I actually found it really hard work to keep up such intense concentration and effort for such a long period of time!
-
how's towing it easier dude? More hasstle, double the ferry cost, probably more in fuel by the time you take into account poor economy when towing, plus when towing the MIni you'll be cruising slower than the Mini could cruise at anyway..... Mine made it there and back without a single issue
