Looks good man. You all make getting on the back wheel look effortless. Its like you're barely leaning back at all but it fires up there nonetheless. Good work man, keep it up! Ride or die
-
Yeah I definately liked it man. Keep at it, you have potential dude!
-
Keep practicing dude! You're getting it! Jealous am I
-
Sorry dude... really man... sorry
-
Nice pics man, even better camera phone
-
I really hope thats not accurate dude

Haha, yeah no doubt. I could see myself riding down a big hill and needing to stop, only to launch myself clean over the handlebars for a record 20 ft and change. Best. Endo. Ever.

Aye. I agree completely. I've been practicing that the past couple of days. I've only actually attempted maybe 2 or 3 bunnyhops. I've been practicing shifting weight, and staying consious of leaning backwards to get the front up higher. Just working on doing a hop without leveling... landing back then front. It's coming along definately. I've gotten pretty much everything I could hope for from this thread. I greatly appreciate the help from everyone and the votes of confidence. I'll be happy to post another vid in late June or July.

Whoa, whats the abreviation for that type of measurement?

Grandmaster Flash is the name you're looking for! Or Afrika Bambaataa. I don't ride with music at the moment. But when I find my mini disc player again I think I'll more than likely have metal, some trance (NOT techno), and some lighter stuff to calm my nerves if I'm trying something that needs more concentration. Say what you will, but every once in a while Enya can be very calming. But for the most part, Metallica, Maiden, Dragonforce, Dream Theater, Paul Oakenfold (I think thats his name, look for "for an angel") some Trivium, Coheed and Cambria... thats about it. For more calming stuff I'd play Collective Soul I think.

Fantasy, not 40K. Go ahead and make the stereotypical assumptions. I do a lot of fun things. Some even you would find cool or ace or king or whatever term you guys use. I play guitar, I ride, I compose my own music and I practice Mixed Martial Arts. Please, don't assume that since every once in a while I like to paint a few models and even less frequently play a game or two with some friends that I'm whatever the hell you're assuming I am. Thats pretty ignorant.

What side do you guys have your levers on? In Canada we have front brake on the left and rear on the right.

What Things Annoy You Most When You Ride
Sabiot replied to Monty Man Sam's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Chavs are what we call "wiggers" out here. Super derogitory term. From what I can tell Chavs are young white males who act tough (but only in a group) wear lots of chains and jewelry, baggie pants and listen to Crap... I mean rap. -
and cm are too small if you ask me. But I live in canada and we mostly use inches here. I guess its a toss up, some people like cm but I much prefer inches. I think I'm a little biased since I play warhammer

The forks might be helping a little but I have the spring on the highest tension and the air to at least 10psi higher than it ought to be for my weight. When I try to compress them I get maybe an inch of movement from the whole 100+mm. Another thing, suspension does not work like a spring. A suspension does not get compressed and then shoot back up. Suspension is meant to help absorb the impact of landing a jump or to smooth out a trail that has some dips and rocks on it. If anything, my bouncing on the forks only lets me get less height meaning that if I had a entirely hard bike that even just bouncing the forks would get me higher. Maybe I used them a little. I was getting up because I crouched, literally jumped and pulled the handle bars with me. I honestly think that if I just put more weight forward first, threw it a little bit more backwards (and keep leaning backwards) and then attempt to jump that the front wheel would come up higher and first more definatively and would thus help increase height as well as landing on my rear wheel. I honestly didnt set out saying "okay I'm gunna press on my forks and they'll magicly make me bunnyhop" No. I already said I was having an off day. I'll post some more in a week or so. I'll show you guys my improvement (and beg for more advice) EDIT: Yes, please do. Even one of you bunnyhoping. Make it as slow as possible, even the same hop over and over and over at increasingly slow speeds. That actually helps as I can watch the jump over and over and see every little thing you're doing with every part of your body during the jump. I'd be much obliged Ash. EDIT 2: Love me or hate me, my threads get t3h h1T5!!!

Because measuring in metres is so impractical. It wouldn't really make sense until you could do at least 1 metre. And whats that like 3.89009343568423048320 feet and a half sack of pepsi? Metres are a terrible way of measuring something this small.

Shouldn't you be able to do gaps without a pedal kick? Couldnt you just jump and throw your weight forward?
-
He must have some good rims, those bikes are totally NOT meant for this type of riding. Nice vid though. I like the reggae too
-
I can barely even get on my back wheel but I'll attempt to help. A lot of people here have been saying to just give 'er and throw the weight back. You're gunna loop out eventually. Maybe try sticking your butt towards your rear tire a little bit more on the landing? It might help. I'm sure somone more knowledgeable will come by later today and let you know

Lets see it dude! Make me a tutorial for the uber dense! Lets see some bunnyhops and hops from manuals man! More vids the better!

Holy Crap Minimacaskill. Nice moves man. My favorite was probably when you bunnied over that rail. Absolutely beautiful. Nice gaps too!

One last thing before I let this thread die... I have a stem that would raise my handlebars a solid 1.5"-2.5" plus put it a little more over top of the center of the front wheel. I notice a lot of riders have really high handlebars and they tend to be really overtop of the front wheel. Does this help for lifting the front wheel when you shift your weight back?
-
Is that the devil's advocate I hear in my subconsious? Haha. I totally want to go out and just play around. I dont know if I'll do any bunnyhops but I'm going to go out and at least practice manuals since it seems very similar in technique to getting the front wheel up for a bunnyhop. My GF went around my apartment and showed our friend (and her friends) my leg, I guess it's like a car wreck... it's so terrible that you have to look. They'd kill me if they saw me outside riding the day after. Too bad for them though! They're both at work! HA! Ride on dudes EDIT: If someone has msn, please look me up thefourstringsamurai@hotmail.com I have a few questions about throwing weight back to get the front wheel up. I think it'd be easier in a chat format. I just rode for about an hour and only did manuals and practiced leaning over the handlebars, throwing my weight back and jumping. Basicly doing a bunnyhop without leveling (to focus on getting the front up) I'm not even worried about getting the rear tire up, its easy enough to do that. I just cant seem to get the timing or whatever for getting the wheel nice and high and then exploding from a crouched position

LOL, the shin or my "technique?" hahaha. Anyways, thanks again for the tips guys. I'm very eager to get out there again
