  1. lol you're all a bunch of bastards Good job with the photoshop though ahah
  2. I could come up for the day on Sunday...
  3. LMAO, a red version of the Hulk just with slightly worse gurns At least nobody has got a sidehop gurn photo, as I'm getting closer to Benito/Vince's horse like expressions! But ignoring my ugly mutt there's some nice pics
  4. Dave, I think that comment is SERIOUSLY out of line. Especially considering the huge effort Barbara Wright, Fred Savage, Mick Scrivin and others have put into organising two different events, both including two separate days riding with both UCI and BIU comps. Maybe you should actually go to one of these events before accusing people of needing to put in more effort, its comments like that that convince hard working volunteers to give up on the sport. I agree more than anyone that the national comp scene needs uniting but that isn't going to happen by insulting the organisers! I can understand where your coming from Ali, I certainly think you are capable of doing well at the worlds. But lets be honest you're not going to qualify if you retire from the selection comp? Maybe the selection process could be improved. Certainly if a rider has already qualified then their position in the qualifier should be ignored and the next rider would get the qualification place? Good luck to all those competing
  5. If you're sending a hub back to Hope for a service, its almost always better to send it back as a complete wheel. If the ratchet ring is worn and needs replacing they need the hub to be built into a wheel to remove it. The only time you should send back the hub only is when the hub shell itself is cracked and needs replacing. And if its skipping, then its obviously a freehub issue so new ratchet ring and pawls are in order, possibly a new freehub body if the current one is scored.
  6. Yeah I have a job as well, but Thursday is my day off. Shame you couldn't come Ad it was an awesome day
  7. Hey, bit late notice but thought I would post just incase anybody wants to join us. Me and Fatmike and possibly a few others will be riding Bristol tomorrow from about 11-8. PM me or reply here if you want my number.
  8. I was more than happy with the sections! I did find a couple were quite easy on the Sunday, but I think thats because they suited my riding style more than usual. Because of this I really enjoyed all the sections and felt good about my ride. The only thing I was a bit surprised about was that Saturday turned out to have the harder sections. I was really keen to give Elite a try, but was put off by the danger of some moves and realised red was still challenging. I would have thought it made more sense to have the Sunday yellow route as the tougher day. All the riders are seeded and should be more than capable of riding it, compared to Saturdays UCI where many less skilled riders like myself should be riding yellow. This is a minor point though, I rode Red on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great to see members of the public take an interest, something which will only help the sport grow. This is only possible if the event is run smoothly and professionaly. So a big thankyou to all involved in organising such a top event, I am very grateful as I'm sure everyone is. A brilliant weekend of riding!
  9. Entry sent earlier today, can't wait
  10. Yeah as everyone has said, a great day! Had fun riding and chatting to so many riders, it was a great turnout. I would have liked to have spent more time mixing with a lot of the people out, but I always find it hard on a big ride. Feeling a bit burnt now
  11. Nah it is me, pretty chuffed with my attempt... not. I wimped out and just dropped, it's a pretty damn big line! Maybe next time Nice pics Sam
  12. They don't call him Action man because hes made of plastic! Some nice pics there, good to see you both riding especially Dan, keep it up buddy
  13. Yeah Fatmike and me shall be there, met check says hot and sunny Plus a mystery guest
  14. I definitely think it would be better for the riders to have the old categories. But going on last weekends entry this would mean automatic podium finishes in many classes, a complete joke if we're honest. The elite entry may have been high, but for the rest of the categories it was poor at best. To me this topic is completely side-stepping the real issue! Why do we still have 2 UK federations? I wager that riders are more concerned about the on going rift between the 2 federations, as this has had a much larger effect than any rule changes. The state of UK trials took a severe dive last year, and has yet to make any signs of recovery. Over the last 2 weekends Mike and I have spent over £150 to travel to and enter 2 BIU "nationals." In what way is that fair? Riders are having to pay twice as much to ride in competitions with little more than half the entry they had in 2005/6. Apparently I won Senior/red route on Sunday, but it felt like a very hollow victory with only 3 or 4 26" riders. I'm sorry to write a negative post that will no doubt offend some people. I have enjoyed riding at both competitions and am very glad I went to both. But when spending such large amounts of money on so called national events, it is disappointing when compared to past years. I for one would like to see the nationals get bigger and better every year but we have really taken a step back. It seems that we have let peoples egos and agendas get in the way of what is important. And this has been not just detrimental to the riders but also to the overall state of UK trials and its image. Isn't it time we started discussing ways in which we can have just 1 BIU national championship, with top events that everyone will want to go to?
  15. Loved it! Really good riding from both of you, your sidehops are getting pretty huge now Matt! But yeah as others have said it is great to see a video where somebody has put some thought into the editing. Especially the mixing with the song, I thought it went really well. The kind of vid that makes you want to ride, but as its 1:20am I might just go to bed
  16. How much do I love you Janson . I would love to browse your trials video collection, you must have the entire web history of trials I'm sure! Yeah I was only about 34 then. More to the point, check out Prawn! I didn't think he'd changed much until I saw that vid. And yeah I'd forgotten just how beasty some of the lines were that Danny and Tim pulled! That really bought back some memories, such a good trip!
  17. Ok, please could somebody try and find and then send me the following video... It was a roadtrip video that Danny Smith made years ago. It starred mainly Danny and Tim Stedman, had a bit of footage of me and Prawn and maybe a few others. The riding was in Bovey Tracey, Worcester and Plymouth and it had an amusing crash section at the end. I think it started with us driving through Bovey Tracy and talking rubbish while listening to SOAD? 10p to anybody who can send it to me
  18. Yeah I think compared to how a mod rides, high BB stocks are closer when it comes to techniques etc. And on the point of geos, I've found that numbers are often slightly different in real life. Couple that with the fact that the geometry of a bike is a lot more complex than just the commonly stated measurements, and its hard to compare frames without actually trying them. My last 2 frames sound similar on paper, but they feel completely different to ride and my riding style has changed quite a bit to suit the new bike. Oh and good luck with the Gu, I hope you enjoy it
  19. If I was to get a high BB frame I'd get a Gu Typhoon. I really didn't expect to like them, but after trying a friends bike I was surprised how well it handles when set up properly. I've heard nothing but bad things about old high BB Adamants and Hi-Fis so I would avoid those. I am very tempted to try a Typhoon, especially as the 07 model is going for about £230 on Tarty.
  20. When I was a street basher I personally found these bars to be the strongest FSA DH400 Still going now on another bike after 3 or 4 years
  21. Hey Amanda, I had no idea you were that good, I was impressed! Was an enjoyable vid to watch with a good mix of riding. I liked the 360, rail rides and flatland stuff, good to see you trying bike trials as well. Look forward to the next one.
  22. Yeah same here. I don't know what people were expecting to see? It was obviously going to be reused footage that everyone has seen before. And as it was taken from already compressed and edited videos you are a bit limited, it would be hard to edit it perfectly to a song etc. Oh and respect for using AHC. I can understand why people don't like them, they have some f**ked up songs. But I love some of their stuff, All Wrapped Up is truely awesome
  23. So I have to ride Elite if I want my result to count I know this is the way UCI comps are run, but I for one think its rubbish! I relish a challenge and competing against people who are far better me, but that's not the only issue in trials. It is a dangerous sport, and if a rider tries to ride obstacles above his level of ability then there is a much greater risk of injury. If the sections are a similar difficulty level to other national comps then I'd be very worried for my safety riding elite. I know you can ride out of class, but to me that is just pointless. You still pay the same amount but your points count for nothing. There are no prizes and your not even competing against all the other riders of that route, only the other amateurs who aren't good enough to ride the proper category. Does that encourage new riders? Basically, if you don't reach a certain ability level by a certain age then you have to drop your category. This may work for some sports where people start at an early age and train in clubs throughout their childhood, but this is trials! The sport is tiny and new and we should do all we can to encourage new riders to help the sport progress. I did my first competition when I was about 18/19, and I know it is a similar story for many other. This is an often overlooked area of the rules and structure of the sport. But I for one think BIU rules are far better in this area! UCI sucks ANYWAY, enough of the rant. I should hopefully be coming down for the whole weekend, although I might be too tired/injured/dead to ride on Sunday!
  24. There was going to be a big group of us coming down for the weekend, but it looks like were going to Hook Woods now.
  25. Beasty riding! Not that original but there was a good mixture of different moves, you have some skills for sure.
