In all seriousness, there's not a lot of benefits to SM-ship. It's a sort of council of elders, discussing forum matters before taking it out to the wider group. We also get priority ordering when each batch of TF merchandise comes in (and the T-shirts are awesome!) as well as a modest discount at a few trials suppliers.
Now being a mod, *that's* when the big pimpin' begins!
So how exactly do you become a senior? Is it to do with number of posts or did you have to sleep with the moderators? I dont mind, i'll do anything to get rid of this trials newbie nonsense.

You could always encourage others on this forum or whatever to email photos/reviews of rides and locations. That way you'd be able to cover a wider area without actually having to go yourself.

if you go through warrignton stop at asda some great gaps and sidehops plus aload of forests with alot of cut down trees and a river to gap but id only sugegst it as a quick "while he's getting food" stop.
When i first read this i thought you were gonna suggest i pick you guys up some food...but obviously not
Sounds good as well. Chances of landing in the river?
Some photo's would be good of your riding spots, it'll help to finalise the plans. Should be writing up the travel plans soon so i'll put them up on here. Would be good to get a load of you guys out for it. Although, rather than doing the roadtrip in a few days or whatever, will probably be over a few weekends so more people are able to make it.

Was just wondering, i'm currently running a fixed cog on the front and freehub on the back of my stock bike. Would replacing the drivetrain for a freewheel at the front and fixed rear wheel make any difference to weight and will it make any difference to the feel/ performance of my bike?
-
Depends, are you using a chain-whip and lockring tool? If you are maybe when trying to undo the lockring, increase the length of the spanner by using a long metal pipe or something. It may be that the lockrings got a bit crusty and stuck.
Maybe even try a few sprays of WD40 or similar to loosen it up.
If its not a standard mtb freehub and lockring then all this advice is pretty useless, so apologies if it is.
Also, i know its silly to put this, but just in case, make sure you're undoing it the right way, ie anti-clockwise.

If you're going to be in the south west at all, I'd strongly recommend fitting in both Bristol and Plymouth for street, and while you're down you could hit up one of the ridiculously many awesome natty spots up on Dartmoor
I used to live down in torquay and plymouth was one of my favourite spots for street. Been up on dartmoor a few times as well so they're both one's which will probably make the list.
Bristols just down the road from me as well so that'll be going on the list.

Basically - 1075 + 20 380CS 73deg - Pretty simple/average geometry, always good to start somewhere. Obviously upping the BB will make the bike feel shorter, but more 'springy', making it longer, but keep the low BB will make it feel longer, a bit more relaxed and slightly slower to move. Shorter chainstays will make the back end more responsive, longer ones will make it less responisve. The head angle effects the cockpit room and the angle of the forks/front wheel.
Probably pretty useless info..but it's there anyway.
To be honest that helps a lot mate. I was interested to know what difference the geo makes, as well as obviously what most people prefer.

- Endo Hops
- Manuals
These two are both ones where finding the balance point is really important. Needless to say you're probably gonna have to go past the balance point a few times (ie eat dirt).
With manuals i find it easier the faster you go. Make sure you've got your finger ready on the back brake just in case. Get up some speed, pull up on the bars and throw all your weight back behind the seat/ over the rear tyre. Just keep practicing and one day you'll just find the balance point and be popping manuals all over the shop.
With the endo hops, you'll need to find your balance point as well. Just keep practicing endos going as high as you can till you can judge where the balance point is. Once youve got that, just preload your body then pull upwards. Not so much with the arms thouyfgh otherwise the back end will just drop down. Try to get the movement coming from your legs/hips.

Good vid, keep 'em coming

natty or street?
I generally prefer street but a bit of both would be good.
i think you need to head up north! Up Shipley/Leeds way, or maybe even further! Darlington, newcastle...should come to the farm, im planning on expanding my personal trials park a bit this summer
I've got quite a few mates up newcastle way so could be a plan.

I can swing my back wheel round, but i can't lift my front end up until the back wheel's on the ground.
Just keep practicing this on the flat or off a curb. Just do an endo then practice pulling up hard on the bars when you're passing 90 degrees.
-
Keep 'em coming. Some pics of good lines or spots would be cool as well.

As the title suggests i'm trying to arrange a roadtrip around the UK and i'm after some good suggestions for locations to ride.
A nice mix of street and natural would be good, and any suggestions welcomed.

I really want to learn sidehopping high but I never get it right no matter how good and far I know to lurch
I know it's the same move as the lurch/pedalkick forwards but I still can't jump to the side...
Start small and work your way up, thats what i did. Start on a curb or something and gradually get bigger.

Well heres my list of tricks to complete:
bunnyhops
Basics mate, get yourself out there and practice your arse off. All else fails come along to one of the organised rides...you'll find you'll pick up loads just riding with other people.

measure it
I could do, but that'd mean actually gettin off my ass and finding a tape measure, lol.
Was kinda hoping for an idea of everyones preferences.
-
All depends on your crank length and the strength of your legs.
Mines 20:16 on a 175mm crank, little bit light to be honest.
-
Good work for getting yourselves into the public eye. You'll have to let us all know if you manage to get it all sorted then perhaps we could arrange an organised session there.
-
I use 20:16 but find there's not quite enough power to each pedal stroke. I'm running 175mm cranks.
If you're one for watching the weight, i'd go for a smaller cog at the front then reduce the size of the rear one accordingly.
-
I'll take the lack of response as a no i guess
I may be a little rough anyway on the sunday. Still tempted though if anyones about.
Consider this a bump.
-
I'm sure all of you guys have certain tricks which you try hard to do but fail miserably. Mines a 360 spin on the back wheel.
No matter how hard i try i can only get it to 180. I'm starting to wonder whether i'll ever be able to manage it. Anybody got any advice?
Also, what tricks are other people struggling with?

Consider myself warned, no nonsense from me...honest

Posts in chit-chat do not count.
Thats such a shame, cos i've got so much nonsense to contribute to this section
