can you also get phat pads in a v brake version?
is this the same guy that owns heatsink brake pads...... i apologise i get confused between them
really great pads though so i hear
-
like most things its down to personal preference, it gets said so many times on here but its really the be all and end all
in my opinion......
a rim brake has a bit more bite, and also you can do things such as tar and a grind to the rim to fine tune the brake to your needs. whereas with a disc the modulation allows you to slow rather than come to a complete stop which is useful when getting up onto things.
my point is made much clearer when you look at other cycling disciplines, downhill riders more often than not have disc brakes, due to the fact that the brakes slow you rather than stop you
the point about bending discs when sidhopping is also a good point to consider
but dont just go maguras, a good set of v brakes which have far less maintenence and are more durable in the sense that hoses dont snap if u bail etc
but like i initially said its all down to the rider
-
was it a deus xc perchance?
no but i had it for a while and i reckon my crank bolts were a tad on the loose side which caused it to self combust shame really......... but i didnt pay for it got it with the pair of cranks free of charge

hi lads
im wanting to respray my forks
they have already been painted by the guy i bought them off
what do you recommend to firstly recommend to remove the paint and get the best surface to then reapply another coat
nitromorse? sandpaper? wire brush?
they are really nice forks so i dont want to do a bodge job
thanks
-
i have snapped numerous chains, spokes, bars, brake levers
best one is when i snapped a race face bb by just doing a bunny hop whilst rolling to our next riding spot!!!!! not a happy shopper

i hear you mate
i am 21 and used to ride trials when i was about 14/15 got pretty good if i dont say so myself
now im back into it with a bang
also i have found i am not too bothered about breaking parts or scratching parts etc (a big thing when i was younger ) so i attempt much more stuff and i am now no stranger to letting the bike fall if i dont make the move
i have also seemed to develop more bottle than i had when i was younger and also look at obstacles which i looked at when i was younger and said no way, now i say.... maybe
keep riding mate it keeps you out of the pub, out of the bookies, and it gives you somthing to show for the money you have spent on your bike instead of a urine stain in a shop doorway and a headache the next morning
-
i have no idea mate that wud be upto u wudnt it and its condition etc
but its not for sale so never mind hahah
-
dimon
ive built a trials bike up again aswell
lets get a session on sumtime..... u know just like the old times but with lewis!!!!!
speak soon
-
what did you do?
-
hi
another point to note
when you are just put in the pedal stroke and are "airborn" let go of your break right untill the point when you are going to land and the re-apply
it helps the bike keep its forward momentum..... and also if you have a hope hub or a chris king it sounds amazing, but the important gain is the momentum of course
-
i have just aquired a set of pace forks
the ones with the brake mount behind..... not the carbon fibre ones, if you are old skool enough you will know what i mean when i say danny holroyd ran them on his pace
sorry though they are my dream forks so you cant have them hahahahahah
but i would love to buy your frame!!!!!!!
-
nice video you seem to have a whole array of moves
i cant help thinking somthimes you try and do too many moves in one section (if you get what i mean) as far as videos are concerned i think clean stylish flowing moves are better. look at some of the TRA videos and you will see what i mean.
yes i am a fully paid up member of the style council hahaha
-
do you work at halfords
i would recognise a stockroom like that anywhere haha
-
by geo i presume you mean geometry?
ive had a look at a few bike pics, arnt they so long now!!!!!!
-
thanks guys, seriously want one mite have to dabble......
can you run them straight out of the box on a trials bike, or do u need a trials kit or somthing to that effect?
ive missed this advice!!!!!
-
can you still get pashley frames brand new?
they are like my dream frame!!! but when i was younger i did not have the money to buy one
now i do, so i want one!!!!!!

i am 21 and have just started riding trials again after stopping when i was about 17
there was a big crowd of us in my village who rode from like 13 years old, then everyone just gradually stopped, got cars, got girlfriends, got jobs and lived for the weekend and a week long booze up in magaluf
i went to uni, and rode bmx and really did enjoy it, came home and could never force myself to get rid of my trials bike, and i am so glad i didnt
rode my trials bike for the first time in ages last week, and i am hooked again
re registered on this forum and now spend all my free time trawling for new videos, and looking at new parts
i must admit it has changed a lot, i grew up riding with the trialskings videos permenantly on my desktop, and i found them on youtube and they are still some of the best trials videos around
im not into how high you can front tap, or sidehop i am more into the kind of riding adam burns and danny holryod did.
also anyone getting back into it, or any new riders, watch evolve, be inspired!!!!!

hi
first of all i am very pleased that this website is still going, i feel very old at now 21, last time i posted on one of these i was 15 no doubt wearing a blink 182 t shirt or sumthing along those lines hahah
just been out on my trials bike after building it back up and dialling it back in, which i was shocked i could still remember to do
i am hooked again, rode around all the old spots i used to ride every day when i was younger, and did a few things which i knew i would always be able to do, and looked at stuff which i thought i had no chance years ago and now think..... hmmmmm i think i could probably do that now
thank you trials i have missed you
cant wait to ride again tomorrow and also to get back into the discussions, the top tips and also need to seek out a pashley 26ghz (if they still make them) because now i work i have to the money to get myself one.
so whats changed guys?
chris king still make hubs? or are there better options now, looking on ebay at the moment at them, seriously considering buying one but want to know wether there are other companies, no doubt that i have never heard of which do what they do better
look forward to your replies
tom
Phat Pads
in Beginners Trials Chat

so let me get this straight
i can buy a set of the v brake pads that heatsink do...... which if i have read their website properly you can use magura size pads into their backings
so that means i can have a set of heatsink pads (yellow or white which are better???) and when im sick of them i can bang a pair of phat pads into them!!!!!!!!
everyones a winner!!!!
