  1. A crap photo of my caseless computer, it's mounted about 10" off the floor to stop dust/cat hair ingress.
140mm fan on the cpu blowing upwards, the gpu is cooled by airflow from the two 140mm fans blowing upwards from the base (one of them is disconnected at the moment because of an annoying rattle and in reality isn't needed).

The cabling isn't super neat and tidy from that angle but it's all tucked out of the way and without a modular psu there is a load of cable unused that needs to be stashed.

I almost want to donate to you my spare CM 690 nvidia case but then again maybe not cos I want to see you post one day where you say you dropped something and short circuited a few things and wish you had a case.

  2. Just cos the card says it's 4K compatible doesn't mean it'll run everything fine in 4K. What card is it?

Google monitor viewing distance, there's an optimal viewing distance for different size monitors and different resolutions. 4K on a 40" sitting 3 feet away is overkill and you'll be burning your eyes.

  3. I would say it's better to learn pure skills when you re weaker

as soon as you re very strong/athletic, you may compensate actuall technique (like good leverage) with your physical ability

Yes but your muscles don't suddenly gain say 20% extra strength overnight when you turn 18. Hence why I'm confused why they decide to work on her strength now that she's 18.

  4. We delibirated waited and developped her balance/composure/endurace and especially technique first. Now that she has turned 18 we are going to work on her strength. The goal is not to change her style completely, she will also have the more smooth/technical style. but with the training we plan for this winter we hope she will improve a lot next season

Is there a reason why you waited til she was 18 to start working on her strength? If she's physically capable at say 16, working on her strength earlier on would prove beneficial when she gets older no?

  5. They look sweet as but the heat problem is pretty much non existent for trials riders. Unless you get given a pair or you have a fat wallet I don't see trials riders adopting these over whats already out there. And for that price you might as well get the most expensive Hopes or whatever floats your boat and probably have money to spare.

They also look like they'll snap at the 2 ends of the bar clamp, can't see much material there.

  6. Don't you play some sort of 48 string monstrosity?

Apologies if not, but if I haven't got that wrong you're not really in a place to ask condescending questions about tone.

I was asking a serious question. If adding springs adds a certain tone to a guitar and I don't know what it is I'm going to ask what that tone is. But at a guess I assume Booth means it adds to the twang of a strat.

And yes you have got it wrong, 41 strings too many currently. But give it some time, you'll be correct in the not too distant future. 9 strings are coming into fashion at the moment.

Acrylic lacquer is pointless on a body, it offers all the drawbacks of nitro with the yellowing, crazing and poor protection with no upshots. Unless you polish it weekly it'll be flat as hell in a month and you'll eventually polish through. Either use nitro if your dead set on 1k or go full fat and use a 2k product for better protection, build and material strength.

I thought it was just nitro that yellows over time and not acrylic? I've sprayed some plastic models with this 2 part acrylic lacquer (on acyrlic paint, guitar body in question also has acrylic paint) I have and it hasn't yellowed for the last 3 years. Or is that too short of time for it to yellow?

  7. Why do you need 5 springs if you've blocked off the trem? The string tension will pull the trem block into the maple block so you don't even need any springs.

I have a new compressor coming next week so I can start finishing off the surf green body. Hopefully the arcylic lacquer will be okay to use.
