  1. And fill the forum full of the same sort of threads??

Why not? If people want some opinions on a particular item, then feel free to post - thats (partially) the idea of TF :)

As for forums themselves, the idea is that new topics and information is posted quickly and regularly, outdated information naturally drops onto page two and eventually into the abyss (aka the search system), rather than be used as reference system.

You could argue that the forum is already full of the same sort of threads, trials is quite a specific topic!

I'm going to go with a higher percentage of people buy of tarty than look on here. Thats what this topic is about - why it is beneficial to write them.

I'd agree with that. The system they have set up seems pretty rock solid, I personally like that the person must buy the product before they can review.

Saying that, It shouldn't be that much development effort for them to set up some sort of review moderation system, so the staff can review reviews before they're published. But it still takes time (and money - web developers aren't cheap), either way!

  2. From what I've gathered over the past few months, any vector based file should be alright. So that's an illustrator .ai file, or a PDF or Svg really. That sign blazer program I assume could convert one of those files (surely your mate doesn't always ask clients to supply a sbd file?)

If you have a massive version of your logo you could convert it to a vector using vector magic.com, that's what I've done recently. A smaller image doesn't convert so well, so make it as big as possible so its more accurate once it's been converted and scaled back down to normal size :)

  3. Save yourself the time and energy and just mailmerge them direct to envelope!

No can do, got those 'do not bend' envelopes. Fail. I have however printed all the addresses onto sticky paper so that's saved me a good few hours of writing them out,

How is this going? I'm not in a rush or anything but any idea when these will be posted? :)

The man says I should get them on Wednesday. If that's the case then I'll try to post out at the end of the week :)

  4. Yeah. A screwdriver in the opposite end of the headtube to the cup you're hammering out, with the screwdriver blade against the inside lip of the cup. Don't try to prize them out (I'm not sure why anyone would do that but you never know :P)

My mates dad once made a 'tool' to help get them out without marking the headset. Its basically a big washer (the size of the internal diameter of a headtube), with cut 2 flats into it, allowing it to pass through a headset cup, into the head tube, and rest on the lip of the headset cup. Then get a bit of wood and smash it out from the other end.

  5. As a 16 year old, giving a speech at your familys wedding, you have to live with this the rest of your life. Personally I'd go for safe but the point of you being the best man is you should know what to say ;)

I would go with this. Haven't made exactly the same mistakes as this, but similar - and maybe JD is speaking from experience too? Keeping it short, clean and simple seems like a safe bet, and as said a lot of people will probably hear it and you'll have to live with it for a long time!

  6. It could be a different mouse!

Yeah, it could be.. this one appears distinctively fat and cocky though, I'd be super unlucky to have 2 of them. I guess its not out of the question though.

bait it into a cage and keep it? Or go release it and then go pets at home and buy one for the cage that's not wild.

Lol. But... then I'd have a mouse in a cage regardless, I don't want a mouse, wild or otherwise :P

Traps work best.. But we used some special bits of paper which were adhesive on one side but they are attracted to them.. When they walk on there feet stuck and then you can kill it in whatever way you think is best.

Yeah I've seen those sticky sheets on telly, someone caught a rat on one, then stamped on it. Not sure if I could bring myself to do that :(

  7. Get some filler and seal all the holes cracks ect and any way to get out from the floor or whatever other places you have for the guest to hide/live as remember a mouse can fit through a hole the size of a pen so I've been told. This way you will eventually starve him to death and Maybe others or if you seal him out you'll be seeing a lot more of him allowing you to whack the little bugger with a cricket bat or the like if you quick enough of course :P

There are also little black boxes that emit a odour that will entice the mouse into entering then as soon as the mouse enters the mouse will be electrocuted causing sudden death. But this is last resort as imo chasing a mouse with a bat trying to smash it one sounds rather fun.

I'm pressuring you haven't got any pets ect as there are little devices the size of a fire detector that let of ultra sonic waves which sends mice mad with the mice having very.sensitive hearing so they will steer clear of.your house. Actually this could.probably get rid of your current resident if the bat fails.

Just read that the poison can cause a lot of problems and can cost a considerable amount of wonga because if he runs of and dies in a un accessible place it says the rat will smell rather bad because of the poison when he rots away.

There's quite a few holes the mouse can use to get into the ceiling and into rooms. As Muel (was it muel?) said I fear that he'd just make more holes!

I was just thinking about those electronic things. I don't have any cats or anything, so I might just get one. Heard mixed reviews but it can't harm :)

A good old mouse trap and put a bit of mars bar on it as bait. Works a treat. Put a few traps round the place.

I think I'm going to have to do this. The little b*****d came into my room 4 times last night, kept me awake for about 3 hours (it takes me ages to go from 'awake' to 'asleep'). The fourth time I emptied my room of everything apart from my bed - luckily I don't have too much stuff in there anyway. Each time I saw him, he'd run along the skirting board and literally disappear. There was one hole that he could have been using, but i squashed some foil into there after the first time, so god knows where he was going.

I swear seeing the same mouse 6 times in as many hours is unusual. Normally you catch a glimpse of one, and that's it.

  8. This, unless you take it to the middle of nowhere and let it go. Your lucky it's only a mouse especially with that river near your gaff!

Ah, this is a house in Cardiff. I'm only here 2 days a week and it seems like the mice have taken over while I've been away :P

    STEAL! ;)

Tried that, managed to win over one cat who comes into the garden occassionally, but it has no interest in coming into the house.

Don't be gay with all the humane fairy lights and softly softly gently gently. They're vermin, and spread like them.

Proper traps are the only thing I've used that worked, the extra strong ones.

I think you're right. Reading the reviews for this bait, it sounds like its crap. I think I'll get some proper traps.

  9. Well I'm worried now that the reason it was so fat is 'cos its full of baby mice. I'm also reading stories that some mice just feed off the bait and it doesn't actually kill them :S

Steal a cat for a few evenings?

That would be awesome, but I don't know anyone who could lend me one :(

  10. I got woken up last night by what I initially thought was someone trying to break into the house. Natually, like the man I am, I stayed in bed, terrified and attempting to work out how I could barricade myself into my room in the event that they came upstairs.

Once I started thinking sensibly I decided it must be a mouse or a rat under the floorboards. It must be making a nest up there or something, the ceiling below is brand new so its not as if there's any food or bits of wood up there for it to get excited about. So a few hours ago I put some mouse bait out which I happened to have under the sink. Up to this point this is the first mouse activity I've witnessed in this house.

Just now, sitting in my living room, I caught sight of a fat little mouse from the corner of my eye. He walked around for a bit, jumped up and down for a while trying to get up a door, and finally dissappeared into a cupboard. I emptied the cupboard but he's not there, so I put some bait in the cupboard ready for next time. About 5 minutes later the very same mouse strolls up to the sofa I'm sitting on, literally 30cm from my feet, and goes under the sofa (I lifted it up, but he's gone - again). I get the feeling this cheeky chappy is going to be hard to catch. Anyone got any tips? Now I've got to know the mouse, I feel like maybe mouse poison is a bit harsh.. anyone had any luck with humane traps?

  11. Well. You won't believe it but they're actually being printed right now. Should have them by Friday, apparently they need time to dry and there's something about gas, no idea what that is. Then I'll send them out next week if all goes to plan. Once that batch has gone out I can't see myself having the time, wait... Organisational skills, to send them out regularly, so get your name on the list if you want them any time soon!

Not looking forward to writing out 80 odd names and addresses, I haven't hand written that much text since I was in school.
