  1. I see. I'll probably go for a 26". Since that I pretty much know how a 26" feels.
  2. I can actually imagine that a 20" is easier to ride and learn on. Still, concidering the fact that I always have been riding 26" mountainbikes / dirt bikes, would a 20" be very odd to ride for me? Also, I'm 6ft2", if that matters in the choice of a bike.
  3. To find a bike to buy isn't really the problem. But to find bikes to try, that would be pretty much impossible around these areas.
  4. Well, I know I probably should try both the 20 and the 26, but there is no community for trials anywhere near I live, so finding a bike would probably be mission impossible. Edit: Well, lets wait for some of them 26" enthusiasts to arrive this thread as well then.
  5. Basically that I should go for a 26", haha.
  6. Not what I wanted to hear But sure, it might be easier to learn. But it can't be that big of a deal? I mean, considering you have a larger rolling surface with 26" wheels, you won't fail as much as with a 20". Or am I wrong here?
  7. Hi. So, I have pretty much decided for a 26" bike. I think many of them look very good. Also, I've always rid 26" bikes. The thing is though, that 20" bikes looks very nice to ride, simple as that. And since I'm pretty much a beginner, I guess it will be easier for me to learn with a 20". For information, I'm pretty much going TGS.
  8. Just theoretically. Why do you choose not to go for front disc? People here seem to be kind of anti-disc. Is it a weight issue?
  9. Haidyhoo! So, where do I start. I'm a Norwegian guy, living at the West coast of Norway. More specific, Haugesund. I am just about to turn 19, but it's never to late to start with trials, eeyh? At the moment, I don't have a trials bike, but I'm currently in the process of buying one. Who knows what bike i'll end up with. So I'm just practicing balance and some bunnies on my dirt bike. I'm currently an apprentice, to become an Electrician. After that, I'll probably go University for an Engineering degree. Also doing Ju-jitsu as another hobby, and find that very exciting. Well, cheers for now. You'll hear more from me. /Jan Tore
  10. So, how would it be with a front disc and rear mag then? Virtually every bike I see on ex. tartybikes has this. From what I've read, discbrakes are pretty progressable, but holds less power than a vee/mag? I haven't tried a mag break myself, but are they pretty much unprogressable? Only stop and go?
  11. Well, what can't you do? Take a look around you, and figure out what you can do with different obstacles. Climbing, bunny jumps, pedal kicking and sidehops to name a few. Balance training is also very important, which I myself also has experienced. I must say that balancing on the rear wheel, good balance and pedal kicking is what I personally want to learn the most, since it widens the spectre of what you can do dramatically. Happy riding!
  12. There you see, you learn something new every day Thanks for the link!
  13. One thing I missed around here in the New members chat, was a tips and tricks thread. So lets share some! As a beginner, I do, like all of you, want to learn new things as fast as possible. Which at times can be pretty frustrating at times. Anyway, I find it fairly easy to jump obstacles up to one meter(3 ft) now. This is thought, when I am going with some speed. But how is it done from still standing? Pedal kicking would make sense, but I want to hear from those a bit more experienced Let the discussion start.
  14. I went over budget and made a bike with the Echo Control 09` and Try-All 26" kit supplied with some yellow SL rims. Will that turn out to be a good bike?
  15. Ah, so that's the deal. I currently use a dirt bike, and find myself popping holes in the tube all the time. I've even bought this expensive, thicker tube, but without luck. Can't wait to get my hands on a trials bike now. When it comes to air pressure in tires, what would be preferable for a 165 lbs heavy person?
  16. From the little experience that I have, I must say that urban street riding is my clear favourite so far although I do see that rock and wall riding might be two very interesting alternatives. But at least for me, rock/wall riding seems to be of a higher difficulty range than street riding?
  17. I'll keep my eyes open for sure! One off topic question; Is there a special hose(tube) in trials tyres? Noticed there never seems to pop holes in them.
  18. Sounds like a plan! Thanks a lot for the help guys.
  19. Preferably not more than 500£ on my first bike.
  20. I'm actually looking for a stock bike. Where are those older T-rex's to be found?
  21. Yeah, I saw that one. He was pretty good. Edit: Will I be happy with a Onza bike for a beginning?
  22. Thanks! Will check the movie out for sure.
  23. Thanks a lot guys. Any other advices you might have will also be very appreciated. And to Ben; TRA, what would that be?
