  1. Here's mine. Still going strong 4 years on- which shows how much I have ridden in the last few years :- When I bought it was hard to imagine the day when owning a Zebdi would actually be rare! Another sign how much Trials has developed in a short space of time. One of the last frames when a 26" Trials bike had similarities to a mountain bike.

  2. Take a look at the UK Intelectual Property Office for information on patents.

    In summary though...

    - typical patent takes 2-3 years to grant

    - The application fee is £200

    - The fees for hiring a patent agent to do the work could be around a £1,000

    - Fill out the patent application form found here and send it to Company House to apply

    - It will only cover you for the U.K. market. If you are planning on selling it abroad and need exclusivity then you have to get a separate patent for each country

    - It lasts for 20 years

    - Keep quiet about your idea... "It is important that you do not tell anyone about your invention before you apply to patent it, because this may make your patent invalid." Time to start editing your posts :-

read this on registering a Business/ company name

  3. I'm 21 soon and spent most of my A levels ridding my bike. I've never been one for revision, only took 2 A levels aswell.

Anyway got a B and a C and am now doing a degree in Architecture.

Moral of the story is ride your bike, everything will work out fine, P.S. I dont know if it's just pompy uni but if you're a mature student i.e. 21 then you automatically qualify for a place. So screw up your A levels have a laugh for a few years then go to uni and study what you want.

    Lifes a goodun.

That's terrible advice! Not everybody is fortunate enough to be able to pick things up easily and get away without a lot of revision and hardwork. Just because you're lucky enough to be able to blag a few exams doesnt mean everybody else is. You're 20 and handing that out as advice :S

The moral of the story is not what you just said. Its listen to Bongo and his sound advice! Not only wisdom but plant based metaphors. Genius

  4. Ray Parker Jr - Ghostbusters

New Radicals - You get what you give (classic!)

5ive - Everybody get up now (think thats what its called. Pop gold)

    The Scatman :- (R.I.P.)

    Mark Ronson - Ooh Wee

    Maroon 5

    cant remember anymore

  5. Last summer I was working for a multinational insurance broker doing a bit of admin to pay off my overdraft. Was rather dull and repetitive but on the plus side I got to read about some pretty amusing/ stupid insurance claims. Even got one photo sent in of a blooded, severed hand as evidence for a 'chainsaw malfunction' incident! The guy actually seemed pretty proud of it from the way he wrote his letter! I'm presuming he used the other hand when writing it :-

Just got a new job for when I finish uni at Norwich City Council (the same council that denied planning permission to build a statue of Alan Partridge in the city ). My job title is 'Business Planning Assistant', not even entirely sure what that is myself after the interview! Glorified admin possibly, but its only for 6 months and good pay.

What I want to do is get on Dragons Den then setup my own company :P

  6. Good luck JT.

This reminds me a lot of the following book....

    yes_man.jpg

'I, Danny Wallace, being of sound mind and body, do hereby write this manifesto for my life. I swear I will be more open to opportunity. I swear I will live my life taking every available chance. I will say Yes to every favour, request, suggestion and invitation. I Will Swear To Say Yes Where Once I Would Say No.' Danny Wallace had been staying in. Far too much. Having been dumped by his girlfriend, he really wasn't doing the young, free and single thing very well. Instead he was avoiding people. Texting them Instead of calling them. Calling them Instead of meeting them. That is until that one fateful date when a mystery man on a late-night bus told him to 'Say Yes more'. These three simple words changed Danny's life forever. Yes Man is the story of what happened when Danny decided to say Yes to everything, in order to make his life more interesting. And boy, did it get more interesting.

    Which I recommend highly!

  7. Does it really matter that much if it becomes mainstream? I highly doubt that Trials will ever be as popular as say skateboarding anyway, so it will never get to the point where you wont be able to find a riding spot that isnt in use or overcrowded. I really dont think that where Trials is now there is any reason to fear it becoming too mainstream- far from it! Sure Trials has grown a lot in recent years but it is still very much a minority sport. There might be certain areas of the country where its particularly popular but if you averaged it out across every town and city I'm sure you'd find a very different story.

Do you not think this question was being asked years ago? When there were barely any trials speific parts let alone mail order company's like Tarty and Select. The bigger the sport grows the more people that can find out about it and get involved. I dont know when you started riding? but if Trials hadn't have progressed in the years before then maybe you (or others on here) may have never even found out about the sport. I was lucky that when I started I had riders in my town, otherwise not a chance I would have discovered Trials. And I'm sure the same is true for loads of other people out there now, but they will take up something else unless the sport carrys on progressing and gaining more publicity.

Seems a bit selfish to hope that Trials doesnt get any bigger just for the sake of avoiding a few irritating kids that will quit before too long anyway if they arent really interested.

  8. yeah the FA Cup fina; was sooo boring. I needed to have a cup of tea to wake me up. Cant wait for the Liverpool v Milan rematch though. On paper and form wise you'd have to say Milan are far the superior team, but then Liverpool always have that winning knack in the big cup games. I will never jforget the final two years ago- best pub atmosphere I have ever been in. The whole place just jumping up and down like loonatics and hugging random strangers! dont even support Liverpool. Bring on Wednesday

  9. Comic Relief and Eurovision... two dates in the TV calander that I avoid like the plague :P

Terry Wogan's little comments were amusing about 5 years ago (or should that be 50?) but now they are just tiring. Especially when Britain get barely any votes and he blames it on our foreign policy and politics. Nothing to do with the fact that our entrys are always utter dross then Tezza ?

  10. Jarhead - 6.5/ 10 Was a pretty good film and I did get into it, but didnt live up to some of the hype I'd heard about it. I suppose it doesnt help when you have watched Full Metal Jacket a few days before hand!

and by the way FMJ - 9/10 Absolute beast!

  11. My girlfriend went to see it and there was a powercut 1 hour in and everybody had to leave the cinema  I'm guessing that the man out back pedalling like mad to power the screen must have gone on strike- it was Norfolk after all. Oh well maybe she didnt miss much if Dave's review is anything to go by!

  12. Would you spend £5.00 on a biketrials DVD?

Yes (but only if it seemed worth it having viewed the trailer)

What is our favourite trials style, Street(normal riding around town), natural, Urban(e.g Matt Berridge, John Shrewsbury)?

    Street (to watch anyway)

Who are your favourite UK riders?

Chris Akrigg, Martyn Ashton, Ed Tongue, Danny Mackaskill, Ali C

    How old are you?

    22

Do you prefer your favourite songs on a biketrials video or a simple well made track which fits with the video?

simple well made track which fits the video

Do you want the video to have different sections from different rides/events.

    Yes

Do you like seeing different riders and new places/section, or the same old big gaps as you can appreciate how big they are( eg St.Pauls gap in london and most big riding spots)

this isnt a yes or no answer ? :SThe first one though

Do you prefer a video which sets the scene and has some nice shots and some experimental parts rather than just all riding?

    Yes

Anything else which you think makes a trials video stand out?

Just some different/ innovative lines by a variety of riders. Not the same old tedious lines you see time and time again in obvious locations like Bristol, Shell Centre, St Pauls etc. Boring, boring, boring. Mix up the riders and locations as again I find it boring if the same location or rider is used for too long continuously. Mixture of music too so it doesnt seem to repetitive. Again its about variety.

  13. They left the scene of an accident which they caused where two people were dieing/ died for christ sake. I dont care how irresponsibly they were driving or whether the Gumball rally is right or wrong, that has to be the sickest part for me. I dont know whether they were trying to get away with it by getting out of the country or if they were actually sick enough to carry on thinking about the race after that. Either way they are a pair of royal wankers in my eyes.

  14. There will be a Trials-Forum armaggedon caused by excessive cyber bitching. It will happen on the 18th June 2009. 'Trialsntrials' will cause it.
