  1. Noooo! You can bleed pretty much any brake with anything, coke, piss, battery acid etc and they will work..... How long for though is a very different matter! Hopes and the vast majority of hydraulic systems need proper hydraulic fluid as this lubricates the seals and internals and keeps everything working as it should. Also as the seals are designed for thicker Hydraulic fluid the seals my not be able to keep something thinnner where it should be, causing leaks etc.
  2. Made the switch to water last night after lots of neigh saying, im very impressed! Brake was much quicker and easier to bleed, My Lazy cylinder is now spot on, Brake action much snappier, Lever feels more Solid although i reckon this down to the very old Magura blood. Overall impressed so far Will have to get a proper ride with it to see if it lasts. Seems like a good move for Rim brakes, Those that are bleeding discs with water are just asking for trouble though!
  3. Shorter stem/Higher rise (in Theory) will put your weight more to the back which will make the front easier to pull up (im assuming for manuals etc?). You need to watch you dont go too short though or it will be a dog on the back wheel and can be difficult to get enough movment/power to do larger moves. I used to ride my Sidekick with a 110mm 30deg stem and it rode much like a trials bike, when i got a dedicated trials frame i put a 50mm 5deg stem on to the sidekick and it rode like a BMX, awsome for street stuff, manuals, large bunny hops, rolling gaps etc but its pants on the back wheel when stationary for gaps, back hops etc.

  5. Is the Caliper not the same and koxx forks incorporates a +10/+30mm mount? Use the caliper, buy a new rotor, New brake for £90?

    Help, Magura

The TPA can strip if you have one? Or there could be air in the system
  7. Sounds very simple indeed lol! Suppose it should work grand though will give it a go in the mean time until i get a proper hub sorted Cheers
  8. Anyone reversibly locked out a hope free hub? Im going to be running a FFw on my new bike and im looking at options for locking out the Freehub body on my hope. Ideally id like it to be reversible as id plan to change to a dedicated hub in the next few months and re-use my hope on my Xc bike. Ive been told chemical metal/wedge the pawls in place, does anyone make machined pawl replacements that replace the pawl/spring assy? Cheers Neil
  9. Check you PM's

    Ill take the Echo forks!

    Cheers Neil

  10. Alrite Neil here from Saturday Awesome vid, some excellent stuff from Belfast Let me know what shots you want quote name='TB_Python' date='26 February 2010 - 03:54 PM' timestamp='1267199689' post='2090231'] Fair play to you trav . . . you must be bout 30ish now :L Nah only joking, good song, good riding, that tap at 1.35 was pretty slick Get another one out soon boyo
  11. Oops i think i need glasses! Can you get rear sync with your PW's? been holding off from buying them and just using 301 triggers at the min. Limited functions but havent let me down yet. Id say the PW's would be worth it for the extra functions. Thanks for the vote of confidence
  12. Some excellnt stuff there What triggers are you using? Im struggling a bit with not having the off camera rear curtain sync when shooting at night. Usually shoot with 1dii or 40d and 2x550ex's (usually have both off camera so cant use the wireless function ) Settings for the shots i first posted were F4 @ ISO800 & 1/10-1/15 (to burn in some ambient) flashes were down around 1/8-1/32
  13. Handy wee tip if your only changing the rim... Check your current spoke length and the new spoke length required for the new rim. If its close (within + or - 5mm) there is no need to completely debuld the wheel and re-lace it (unless you want to change the lacing!) Place the new one side by side the old one Line up the valve holes Ensure have the new rim the right way round (ie left holes to the left, right to the right) Tape the rims together in a few places Now you just have to take one spoke out of the old wheel and transfer it directly across into the new rim (once done, tension and true as normal) Much much quicker than re-lacing completely and saves a head ache if youve never laced one
  14. Any one on here take photos of Trials or bikes in General? Interested in seeing what lighting setups people use etc. Was out with a few guys of here on Saturday in Belfast and got some good shots. Struggled a lot though with getting enough ambient light in to keep things looking natural. #Edit found some of the shots http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=148582 Neil
  15. Thought id signed up here Years ago! Ah well.... 26 from Belfast, been into trials for a good few years, currently on a Brisa B26d Was out riding and taking some shots at the weekend end with Ross McAurther and Ben Travis while they were over in Belfast and my mate Louis (Brisa of here). Some excellent riding from you guys! Anyway just saying hello and on the look for a newer frame, im told my Brisa is a bit old skool lol Neil www.ThompsonImages.co.uk
