  1. Ok, thanks for that! I am tempted to get the 2010 Forks, as I don't think I am going to do be able to tell the difference between the 06's and 10's - as I am not that much of a expert. What do you mean by 'run them properly'? Thanks and ATB James Thanks for the offer. I am a bit worried about buying forks which have had a previous problem - especially a serious one! And they are at the top of my price range. I don't what they would be like with the coils - as no one else has had the same as you done? Thanks and ATB James
  2. Thanks for that information Tomm! Luckily, all of the Forks which I am interested in, all say Dirt Jumper! Does anyone know what steerer length I will want roughly? My headtube length will be 110mm I have seen some quite nice 2010 DJ2's in white, with Black Stantions - I take it these will be fairly rubbish, as they are not Pre-06? Thanks and ATB James
  3. They look perfect.....except for they are a bit more than I want to spend! :$ I have looked on eBay to see if there is any secondhand, but no such luck! As I said earlier, I would really like the forks in white. I am not that fussed on the sanctions now, but I would prefer gold or black - but normal silver would be fine I suppose. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Really gutted that 2010 Marzocchi DJ's aren't any good - seen some nice white ones for sale! Thanks and ATB James
  4. Really tempted Mate! Does anyone know what 110mm Travel is like for street riding? I assume it is too much? Thanks and ATB James
  5. I have just had a look and they are pretty expensive - About the £250 Mark, but probably less 2nd hand! I'll have to see if I can find any decent secondhand ones. Do you know if they are rated higher than the Marzocchi DJ3's? Thanks and ATB James
  6. Looks like I'm still going to have to find some......as unfortunately 'Theta2' Forks are 110mm! The problem I have is that I think I would like the fork to be white - But I don't think Marzocchi did a Pre-06 fork in white?! Any suggestions? In a perfect world, I would like a white fork with gold stantions! Thanks and ATB James
  7. Very interested, I'll just send you a PM now buddy! Thanks and ATB James
  8. Ok, Thanks guys! I will get some forks with 100mm Travel. So basically, the DJ3's will be just as good as the DJ2's? Thanks and ATB James
  9. Thanks again Lads! Very helpful and useful! Just a couple more questions : What travel should I go for? Eg 100m Is there anyway to tell a Pre-2006 fork? Finally, does anyone know the length of the fork (from the crown race to centre of the dropouts)? Most likely 100mm, DJ3's! Oh, also, what is the difference between DJ2's and DJ3's? Thanks and ATB James
  10. Thanks for that - May I ask pre-2006? So I don't really want anything like a 2010 or similar? Also, what would they be like at 'Street' riding? Thanks and ATB
  11. Hi Guys, What would front suspension would you recommend for Dirt Jumping AND riding street? Ideally don't want to spend that much - but I would consider buying 2nd hand! Thanks and ATB James
  12. Don't worry man, thanks for all your help!!! I am currently talking with Marino about a Custom Frame, I am just asking what his advice would be on Geometry. I am a little confused by his email though : "in attach files is inspired Hex with suspencion but for steet and urban is diferent geo same" Does anyone know what he is saying? Also, he has given me a load of links and photos, which is really good - just doing some research and browsing. I have found 3 of his frames which I really like the look of : Two here : http://www.ridestreet.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=12169.0 (Excequiel "xequelo" Silva's + Luis Sepulveda's Frames) And I also like this one : http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/189564_1927512795355_1468230397_32230145_5655828_n.jpg I am trying to find out what Geometry he would recommend for me! Thanks and ATB James
  13. Thanks for that mate. I have just looked on the Marzocchi Website to find out that information. I have found the following information : Dirt Jumper 3 - http://www.marzocchi.com/Template/detailProdotti.asp?LN=UK&idC=1592&IdFolder=113&IdOggetto=58439# Stroke : 100 Fork Length : 477,5mm Dirt Jumper 2 - http://www.marzocchi.com/Template/detailProdotti.asp?LN=UK&idC=1592&IdFolder=113&IdOggetto=58493 Stroke : 100 Fork Length : 477,5mm I think I am going to get one of the the 2 above forks. I have to say though, those forks seem a lot more than between 420mm and 440mm! Any suggestions ideas?! Thanks and ATB James
  14. I would be running 24" most likely. When you say the 'crown', I take it you mean from the top of the tube on a suspension? (The tube which goes into the actual frame?) Thanks and ATB James
  15. Thanks for the advice. I will get in touch with some frame makers. Can anyone give me some advice on Geometry? Thanks and ATB James
  16. Thanks for the help Man! Where would you recommend I get a custom frame made? If I am honest, I don't want to spend much, as money is a little tight at the moment. Also, I am unsure what other parts I would get if I got a custom frame made - Would need quite a lot more thinking about other parts. If I was to get a Custom Frame made, what Geometry would you recommend? (And I would also appreciate anyone else view - especially Ali's as he certainly seems to know his stuff!). Please bear in mind that I will be using a front suspension, and I would probably go for 24" wheels. Thanks and ATB! Welcome to the Forum Pete! I do quite like the look of the Atomlab, but I'm not sure whether the Geometry would be ideal for what I want to do? Thanks and ATB
  17. Hi again Ali, I understand what you mean about getting used to rigids, but I just feel it isn't for me. I have had my BMX for a year now and I still don't like having rigid forks. Damn and blast, I have found what I think is a very nice bike with that frame, I was actually considering bidding on it! Looks like I will have to give it a miss.....as much as I don't want to! Just to let you know, I will not just be riding street, I will be doing Dirt Jumping, and stuff like jumping off walls, etc (all described in 1st post). May I ask what it would be good for then? What about this bike : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/24-Atomlab-G-I-Dirt-jump-Street-Bike-/180679491223?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item2a11563e97&autorefresh=true (I know bidding has ended!) Thanks and ATB James
  18. Hi Ali, I don't think a suspension is needed at all, but I feel a lot more confident with a front suspension! That's just me I suppose. When riding a bike without a suspension (for example my BMX) I hate feeling the bumps of the roads. When I do jumps I feel less confident and have more of a 'shock' as there is no suspension - I try to absorb the drop with my body, but I still don't feel anywhere as near as confident and stable/comfy when landing a drop/jump. I don't just ride street, I will ride DJ and again I feel more confident with a front suspension. How does the Geo look on this frame? : http://www.scott-sports.com/service/files/images/products/others/photos/T18016078h08343206v16h46S03e98f4.gif It would be the medium size frame I believe. Would it any good for what I want to do? Thanks and ATB James What do you think of the NS Metropolis 2? http://www.damianharriscycles.co.uk/prod/dir_0008_ns/NS/Metropolis-II Thanks and ATB James
  19. Thanks for that suggestion. I did originally think about getting a Trials Bike and putting a Front Suspension on it - But I think there must be a reason why we see no trials bikes with a suspension? Also, if I am honest, the Inspired Hex is waay out of my price range. Thanks again!
  20. Hi Guys, I would be interested in your opinion on what type of bike would suit me best. It is either between a; Dirt Jump/Street Bike Or Trials Bike I enjoy jumping off walls, but more often a speed. Just a simple ride at it at speed, pull front wheel up and just drop off. I enjoy riding at speed, just jumping over things, jumping up and down curbs, going down steps, basically that sort of thing. I also enjoy doing jumps off a ramp. I like the idea of a Dirt Jump Bike with a Front Suspension, as it does absorb some of the force when doing jumps, etc I also like the idea of a Trials Bike, as I enjoy the idea of jumping up and off walls, getting over obstacles, etc I would like to ride a more 'Street' style with both bikes. I think I would go for a 24" wheel size in both types of bikes, or possibly a 26" in a Dirt Jump Bike, but I don't know if it would be suitable for street riding. Could anyone offer any advice? I would really appreciate some help. Thanks and ATB James
  21. I have already tried that, but no luck. Is it maybe worth trying a new rotor or would that make no difference? Thanks and ATB
  22. Thanks everyone for all the help. I will fit a new brake cable and see how it goes. Anyone have any tips for fitting/setting up a new brake cable? Thanks and ATB James
  23. Thanks everyone. I will try some new brake cables! Thanks and ATB
  24. How do I check to see if there is air in the system? I didn't realise you could get air in the system, as they use cables. Shows how much I know! :$ Thanks
  25. Hi Guys, Haven't been on here for a little while. :$ Anyway, I need help with me rear brake. I am running a Avid BB5 with the standard Avid Lever. It is awesome! BUT....the problem is that I can't set it up that well IMO. :$ It grips on the disc with only a smallish pull, but I can pulling and the brake doesn't seem to grip any better. It's not that the brake doesn't grip enough, it's just that the brake feels 'spongy' and not firm. I feel that I haven't got it set up will enough to use with 1 finger as I find it difficult. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks and ATB James BTW, I bought the brakes 2nd hand if that makes a difference.
