  1. Looking to get a Trials Bike (Look at previous posts for more info about me and what I want) I just found this on eBay; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ONZA-T-PRO-TRIALS-/270591150726?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item3f007d4a86 Is this any good for a beginner? Also, how much should I be looking to give for it? Basically I am after a cheap but decent bike which I can learn on. Oh I also like these 2: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Onza-Pro-20-Trails-Bike-2009-/120581100983?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item1c133195b7 + http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Onza-Rip-20-inch-Trials-Bike-/270590579984?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item3f00749510 (Abit too expensive). What would be the most suitable? Thanks, James
  2. These are hilarious guys, Keep them coming! *My BMX rear wheel had just been run over* Guy: I didn't realise wheels were meant to be that shape? Me: Funny isn't it? (In the most sarcastic way possible) Guy: I was being serious Funny thing was, he was actually being serious. Some people are so stupid these days. James
  3. I've lost my string too! I can't do the technique earlier, where you spin it with your hand then do it normally. Any ideas? Thanks, James
  4. Thanks for that. I knew I was doing something wrong! James Also, I think I should change to one ring on the front, as it would give me clearance which can't be a bad thing!
  5. Would something like this work (Obviously I would have to work out what size I would want): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CHAINRING-Shimano-Alivio-FCM410-22T-Inner-Y1GM98010-/290357991021?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item439aaf566d AND: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310178176824&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT That way I can swap to the above for trials, but if I wanted to use the gears, I would just have to change it back over. Thanks, James
  6. Yes you have helped! Thanks! What would be a suitable stock stem and handlebars that would fit my bike? (Nothing too expensive please!) Also, when you say take gears off, do you mean on the front or back? On the front I know I could just cut the two outer rings off, but I was wondering if I could just get a single ring (the same as the inner ring on the bike now)? That way I could change back to the three rings if I wanted to go on a bike ride. Thanks, James I have to admit I would like to do a style similar to Danny Macaskill, but then a 24" is quite abit more than a normal 20". Is it possible to do things similar to Danny, but with a 20"? Thanks, James
  7. I will eventually get a Trials Bike. I am just trying to make do with my MTB. As I am now used to my MTB which has 26" wheels should I get a 26" trials bike? Or should I stick with a mod? Obviously the advantages of a mod is: 1)Cheaper 2)Harder to break 3)Easier to throw around I would rather spend less so a Mod is looking like the right option. Or do I consider a 24"? Thanks. James
  8. Thanks for the kind words! You should be able to watch the third video know. Thanks, James
  9. Hi Guys, Well as I said earlier, I was out riding for about an hour in the rain! I enjoyed every second of it Anyway, I recorded some videos as I thought you could look at my technique and tell me what I need to improve and how. Sorry about the video quality, It is the only camera I have got! Here is the first video I did of a 'Track Stand' : I had only been practicing for about 10 minutes before I did the video. I can find the balance point quite easy now (you might see me find it in the video). I know its not amazing but I think its a start. I think I can easily improve that if I am honest. I almost held one for a minute but I didn't record it! Here is the second video I recorded tonight : It is just of me trying to balance on the back wheel. I pull in both brakes, lean forward then pull back. I can hold it a bit longer sometimes but not very often (I have only done a long one twice). I could defiantly improve I think so I could do with some advice towards my technique. I am sure quite a lot of it is wrong! :$ My third and final video I did was of me trying to backhop : As you can see it was a big fail. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, James
  10. Thanks for all the help once again Lads! I am currently uploading some videos to try and show you what I did tonight in the hour I was practicing for. Thanks, James
  11. Thanks for all the helpful replies Lads! I am going out now just to ride my bike for a little while. Sorry for such a newbie question, but what is a Pedal Kick? And what is a Track Stand? :$ Thanks, James
  12. Thanks. I'll look into that tonight. Off to school now! Thanks, James I know but that is the £200 option! Thanks, James
  13. Yes I do. Maybe someone could right a list of parts which would help improve the bike, and I could then choose from the list. That way I can choose how much I want. Thanks, James OR Would it just be easier and better to get a Trials Bike? Hi, Thanks for that. How do I true the front rim? What would a suitable brake be? When balancing do I just hold the bike, or do I try and keep moving my weight or do little hops or something like that? Its just its quite hard to hold it even when its on its balancing point. Whats a track stand? Thanks, James
  14. Sounds good to me! I have a few questions: What should I practice first? Do I need a front brake? Should I get some new rims as the front is slightly buckled so it is a little bit annoying with front brakes? Is there any parts which would make it better for what I want it to do? Is it possible to put smaller wheels on as I think it looks a bit out of preportion. Maybe 24"? Thanks, James
  15. Hi Guys, I have fixed the puncture on my MTB. It is a Trek 3700. There is a picture of it below. It doesn't have a front brake as I took it off as the front wheel is buckled so when it went round it kept moving/touching the brakes. I am guessing it would help with a front brake? I quickly just took it out and found a small step (about the size of a pavement ledge) and just slowly drove into it, back brake on and lifted the front wheel. It came up suprisingly easy. I could balance for about 3 seconds but then the front would go down. What should I do to stop it going down? I also really like the front suspension as I can use it to take the shock not just using my body. I want to be able to balance on my backwheel so I can jump from a ledge to a ledge, or just drop off and land on the back wheel. Is this possible with my MTB? Would this be suitable as a trials bike? If it helps, I could get a video of me 'attempting' to do the above, that way you might be able tell if it is suitable or not. I will be riding it around a farm, which is mostly concrete. I will hopefully be jumping off walls, going over and around obstacles, jumps, wheelies, that sort of thing. The only two problems I have found so far are: 1) I sometimes smack my knees on the handbars 2) There isn't much ground clearence. Is there a way I can make it have more? I was thinking if I could just have one crank (is that right, maybe front sprocket?) instead of the three that are on there. I only really use gears 1-7 anyway. Unless I am getting a lot of speed. Thanks, James Also, I'm not too keen on the big wheels. But I don't think there is another option. Or is there?

  17. Lol. I don't think I will get it if I am honest as I can't find a courier to pick it up! I am assuming your mate is going to collect it? James
  18. Hi Guys, I have seen a bike on eBay that I really like at a good price. The problem is that it is Ashton-On-Trent, Derbyshire and I live in a place called Craswall which is near Hereford. So collecting it isn't really a option, especially as I am 13 so I can't drive. The seller doesn't want to post it. I was wondering if someone could collect it for me (They need to be a trusted user) and post it to me? I would pay them the cost! (Any ideas how much it would cost?) OR Is there a company that can collect bikes and deliver them for a decent price? Thanks, James
  19. Thanks. Would I get more by splitting it up and selling the parts seperately? James
  20. Hi Guys, I could do with a bit of help of finding out how much my BMX is worth. It is a Mongoose Brawler. The only standard parts are the Frame, Crank and Rim (There is only one rim, long story). The rest of the parts are: Brake: Odyssey Evo 2 Seat: Odyssey Juniour saddle Post: Odyssey Intact Pedals: Odyssey Trail Mix or Jim Clinchi Leaver: Odyssey Mono Lever Stem: Odyssey Topload Handebars: WE THE PEOPLE Lock Stock Bars (https://www.customriders.com/prodshow.asp?prodid=10524&cat=7&parent=1001&sidehop=3#) Seat Clamp: S&M Seat Clamp Chain: Half Link (Possibly KMC) I think that's all the parts. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks, James
  21. Nice Riding! Very nice looking bike too, I like the green rims! Hopefully I will be able to ride like that one day... James
  22. None of my friends have trials bikes. I will have to pop into a shop sometime to see. Thanks for that suggestion. James
  23. Looks like I am after a 20" Onza then. Is there a particular model I should be looking at? Here is the 2009/2010 range: http://www.onza.com/v2/products/2010/ I will be buying used but I thought some of you might be able to tell me a few models which I should look at. Thanks, James
  24. Thanks for the advice. How can I tell if it is too old? Is there an easy way to tell if the bearing and everything else has gone? Thanks, James
